Grouse Mountain Lodge receives mixed feedback from guests who commend the hotel's friendly service and rustic charm, despite noting occasional service inefficiencies. While the spacious rooms and cozy fireplaces add to the lodge's appeal, some travelers express dissatisfaction with the outdated decor and noise concerns. Although the location is praised for being close to town and attractions, the value proposition is questioned due to high costs and additional fees. The cleanliness and amenities receive varied responses, indicating room for improvement.

Stayed here for 2 nights in early January. I booked a Golf/Nordic view room through Expedia, and ended up on the ground floor with windows overlooking snow-covered tennis courts and nearby grounds. The room was quite large and looked a bit dated, but turned out very comfortable. The lodge has traditional decor, with multiple fireplaces going, both inside and on the covered porch outside, and overall feel and look is very cozy. They are located a short drive from town, and offer free on-demand shuttle to/from downtown Whitefish. I believe they also arrange shuttles to mountain/skiing spots but these cost extra. We walked from downtown to the lodge both evenings; it took 20-25 minutes and was actually a very pleasant walk through well lit main street in a nice residential area with quite some traffic on the street; it felt safe even after dark. We used their outdoor hot tub and indoor heated pool just once as it seemed super crowded in the evenings; it was quiet during the day. They also have a nice gift shop on premises. We had breakfast once at their on-site restaurant and it was tasty and with good service. They also serve nice seasonal drinks at the bar, i.e. hot buttered rum. The only small complaint is what I assume are paper-thin walls. We had a very loud person next door and could literally hear every word she was saying while talking on the phone etc. The hotel did provide ear-plugs on arrival, which I guess was a sign. All in all we had a good relaxing stay here and would recommend it to others.

Grouse Mtn is one of my favorite places to stay. It has comfortable beds, a shuttle to downtown, and a great outdoor hot tub. It's always decorated so lovely during Christmas. There are several sitting areas to enjoy a cocktail or visit with friends.

Rooms were very clean and spacious. Booked a golf view but really couldn't see the golf course due to the trees. Hotel was in very good condition and reminiscent of what you think a "Lodge" would be. The quality of the how things used to be built was evident. Only issue was the price. $150 per night (not $250) would have been appropriate considering the location and other properties nearby. Whitefish is just very overpriced.

The room was unlocked when I arrived, as were all of the entrances located throughout the very large building. This proved to be a convenience in some way, as I realized the 2nd day of my stay that my keycards were never correctly activated. The bedding was very obviously not clean, with other guests hair clearly covering the sheets and pillowcases. The floor was covered in dirt and other shoe tracked debris, both the carpet and tile in the bathroom. The only questions I was asked were the last name on my reservation and what card I wanted on file, so I am not sure if any of the others staying there provided vehicle information or information regarding their identity? The parking lot was beyond packed, so I am assuming vehicle info was not confirmed for any guests. The lobby was quite loud upon check in, with children screaming and sprinting up and down the halls when I arrived after 11 pm. I tried to acknowledge this as a family accommodating hotel, but when it continued throughout my stay despite time of day I was unimpressed. I also was told “uhhh yeah just a sec” when I arrived and the employee at the front desk disappeared into the back for a few moments. The way he seemed to be unhappy to be there and unprofessional in asking me to wait wouldn’t have been as much of a concern if I wouldn’t have realized he never even activated the keys to my room!! This was extremely frustrating as the location of my reservation provided me with opportunity to return to my room and change before needing to arrive at my next event. However, I was late after realizing I could not enter my room and then having to stand in the very loud and busy lobby while I waited to request access to my room. Overall, I am so disappointed in spending the money to stay at this location when the reason I did so was solely to feel safe and comfortable when spending the first night alone as a younger female. I did not feel this way at all!!

The one positive aspect of the trip was breakfast at Logan’s bar and grill, located near the lobby. This was amazing in every way, with the hospitality, atmosphere, and food all being amazing!

Hello alexmtravel2024, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback from your stay. I am concerned to read that your experience was not optimal. Please know we have a sincere desire to ensure every guest has a safe and positive experience while staying with us. I truly apologize if these expectations were not met during your stay. Our Front Desk team and I have discussed the areas for improvement based off this feedback and feel confident that these challenges were just a one off. I am thrilled to hear that your experience in our restaurant was satisfactory. These positive comments have been relayed to our food and beverage team. Again, I truly apologize for the inconveniences you faced while you were here. I hope we got them opportunity to try again in the future. Best, Alex Hopkins General Manager

CONS: Room cleaning service needs to be requested each day online by 11pm or else you don’t get a refresh or any service. Breakfast is $18 per person. The loft provides for no privacy with 2 inches between sliding panels and multiple feet of open space on top (noise, light come right through). I travelled with my elder mom and it was hard for her to walk up and down the stairs at night to use the bathroom as both beds were upstairs.
PROS: The restaurant was great for dinner, reasonable priced for the area with really nice wait staff.
Plenty of free parking.
Short drive into whitefish.

Be aware of extra fees charged upon arrival, even if you pay in full prior to the trip! The room was quiet, and clean, beds were comfy; but as soon as we turned the air conditioner on me and my son’s allergies were triggered and coughed incessantly every single time we went into the room. For over 1,000 for spending 1-1/2 days and literally only in the room to sleep after a full day at glacier, it’s a little over priced in my opinion.

PROS: The lobby and restaurant area were really nice looking and we had a loft, which was a cool set up. Overall, though, it was just was okay. First, the description was misleading. "On the doorstep of Glacier National Park" really means it's a 40 minute drive to the park, which we did not know. The air conditioner and the fan were broken in our room. They sent someone up to fix the aircon but they didn't (or were unable to) fix the fan. Housekeeping does not replace towels unless you ask, and they do not make the beds or clean anything else at all, which was so weird to us. We stayed there almost a week so we expected that at least the beds would be made. Finally, we had dinner at the restaurant - Logan's Bar and Grille, and the kids Mac and Cheese was $13 - and it was from a box. (I think every American can recognize what boxed mac and cheese looks like, with the telltale small tube noodles with no real cheese to speak of). Considering this was supposed to be a more upscale dining experience, I expected a lot more. We got better homemade mac and cheese at the deli counter of the local Safeway - and that was $2.45 for the small size.

Considering this hotel was around $500 a night, we expected more.

I picked this lodge for its location and seemingly luxurious appearance as me and my fiancé’s first hotel after four days backpacking in Glacier. With a $415 fee, I was not expecting to walk into a room furnished worse than a Super 8. The desk was scratched and patchy, the beds were poor quality, and one chair had an unsavory stain on it. The overall experience of the room was not worth what I paid. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, which as one can imagine, was jarring. They had no explanation the following morning and did not offer any compensation for the scary experience that no hotel goer wants to go through. Additionally, the wifi was so poor that often times we had no service in our room at all. The TV was cable, which I’m not complaining about (who doesn’t love Forensic Files?) but if I’m paying this much money for a room, can the TV at least have a TV guide so I’m not just clicking blind through channels? Finally, beware of an amenities fee for $13 that we were slapped with in the end, even though we had been too tired to use any of them. The fee is in their fine print on the website, so I’ll take some culpability there, however this place is not worth a $400 plus room and a $13 amenities fee. I am severely unimpressed with the facility. I never leave reviews, but thought it necessary here so that other travelers can save their money and skip this place.

Hello Neelie Browne, Thank you for providing feedback regarding your stay earlier this month at Grouse Mountain Lodge. I sincerely apologize for the many challenges you experienced during your stay. We appreciate your feedback regarding our in room furniture and offerings. We are actively working on elevating our hotel and your specific comments will be used as areas of focus for current and future projects. I also apologize if we did not properly communicate throughout your stay. I totally understand how jolting a middle of the night fire alarm would be. Safety is our number one priority and while the trouble alarm was resolved and was not deemed a safety concern, we should have addressed this experience to each guest in a better way. Please know I have followed up with the appropriate team members regarding your experience. Lastly, I apologize if we did not properly explain the amenity fee at check in or discuss the charge at check out, especially if you did not get the opportunity to use our amenities. For this, please accept the refund for the fee associated. We hope you had a wonderful time backpacking - and that as we continue to elevate that we get the opportunity to host you again and provide you with the experience we strive to provide and know you deserve. All the best, Grouse Mountain Lodge Management Team

I was staying there with a group of 5 for work and the staff at the lodge was nothing short of incredible.

I travel around the country for work most of the year, it’s very rare to experience such professionals like the staff here at Grouse.

The check in process was flawless, keys were ready to go and parking for our larger vehicle w/ trailer was already coned off for us.

The rooms were spotless, comfortable and spacious!

The complimentary shuttle downtown was a wonderful touch, beyond easy to coordinate with the lodge on this.

The restaurant was top notch, such a welcoming environment.

I’d give this lodge a 10/10, would recommended to anyone.

I feel we had pretty good value for what I paid (it was the slow season so prices were much lower, luckily). I had done quite a bit of cost comparison to other hotels and such and this place was very competitive in pricing while still having great quality. Really the only reason I did not give it a 5 star is due to some minor cleaning issues in our room (found hair in the shower, chip crumbs in the bathroom and in the dresser drawer). I saw reviews about the hot tub not being hot enough but we did not feel that way when we went in there during our trip! The front desk lady (I forgot to ask her name and to look at her name tag) was SO nice, friendly, and very helpful!
The "bar and grill" is much fancier than what you think a "bar and grill" to be but for the fanciness and quality of food/service, the pricing seemed pretty fair.
