This was our second stay at the Argo-the first being several years ago. This time we were in town for a geocaching event, so we literally only needed a bed for the night. That was too bad in a way because we missed being able to experience the "breakfast" part of the B & B. This location is a delight...

We are attempting to stay in the oldest hotel in each state, so on a swing out west, we spent a night at the Argo. It is charming, quiet, and offers variety and comfort in the selection of guest rooms. It is also very reasonably priced. Our breakfast was delightful and we enjoyed chatting with the owner, who gave us...

My husband and I spent the weekend at the Argo Hotel, celebrating our 20th Anniversary! We stayed at the Argo Hotel 20 years ago on our wedding night. Our room was beautiful, we had the deck to soak in the sun, fantastic fish dinner, and kind service.

We were so happy you stayed with us to celebrate your anniversary! The two front upstairs rooms with access to the balcony are very popular. The weather cooperated for you to enjoy sitting outside, although you can always sit on the covered front porch if the weather doesn't cooperate. We are happy to provide additional fish dishes for the Lenten...

Wonderful place to get away from the crowds. We are staying in room 1, the Lesie Brooks room, a somewhat famous movie star who grew up here. We chose this room due to it having a fireplace but the fireplace is NOT working. Somewhat disappointed!!!Wonderfully appointed room and spacious sitting room. Access to the front balcony. The bathroom was spacious...

This hotel was like being in a home setting. The comfort , ambiance, privacy, and welcoming experience could not have been better. Sandy the owner goes over and beyond her call of duty. We spent a terrific night at the Argo! We were looking for a quiet, different stay for our 18th wedding anniversary and we found it! When we drove up to the Argo, we immediately appreciated the stature and craftsmanship of the building. Inside, it's a tribute to beautiful construction, furniture, photographs and a different and simpler time. Honestly, I’ve never...

It is easy to serve guests who are as charming as you both. Thank you for choosing the Historic Argo Hotel to celebrate your anniversary. There is a lot to do in the area, even though we enjoy the benefits of a small mid-western town. I and my staff wish you many more happy anniversaries and hope you will spend...

The Argo is a great place for a weekend getaway. I'm so happy you appreciated the beauty of the hotel with its grand oak staircase, antiques and chandeliers. Built in 1912, it is a chance to see what accommodations were like in this town during the railroad boom while still being able to enjoy modern amenities. I'm proud of the...

We had an AWESOME stay. We had a wedding reception in Niobrara, NE. So the location of the hotel was perfect, close, but not to close. The rooms were clean and neat. It was nice and quiet too. The owner was very friendly and helpful. She made a delicious breakfast for us. We will be visiting this hotel again!

We wanted something special for a hotel near my great grandfather's burial. And we didn't want a chain hotel. And there was no Air BnB. So we picked the Historic Argo Hotel. Built 100 years ago. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Historic Argo Hotel was built in 1912 to serve the railroad traffic of the time. It is located in the heart of Crofton, a small town in northeastern Nebraska on Hwy 12, also known as the Outlaw Trail. It is near Lewis and Clark Lake and Recreation Area on the Missouri River. The hotel has been restored back to its former grandeur. The exterior of this brick bed and breakfast is reminiscent of hotels of the early 1900s. Inside, transom windows over the doors, metal ceilings and a large oak staircase add to the periodic charm. Go back in time to the 1900's and imagine travelers coming into town by train from Chicago and Minneapolis/St. Paul who were then picked up by stagecoach or horse-drawn wagon to be taken to their final destination. Indulge yourself with a stay here and enjoy a taste of history. The Victorian-style rooms on the upper floor are decorated with antiques but have modern amenities. They feature free Wi-Fi, cable TV, air-conditioning and private bathrooms. All suites provide sitting areas, while most have Jacuzzi tubs and some offer full living rooms or balconies. Enjoy a delicious hot breakfast in the morning after a relaxing night's sleep. Doc's Bar and the Leslie Brooks Dining Room are open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings with menu items including steak, chicken, seafood and pasta. ... more   less
