A little laid back but very nice B and B. Upon arrival (we had arranged for a late arrival since the ferry from North Sydney does not get in until about 7PM) we let ourselves in and picked up the phone to access the owners number and in a few minutes Marie came to welcome us and show us to our room. Quite possibly the quietest B and B we have ever stayed in. We were the only guests that night and had the home to ourselves including the large screen TV in th common room. Gerald came the next morning and made breakfast to order with eggs bacon and lots of toast with wonderful jam. Great coffee and juices greeted us while Gerald fixed the breakfast. On our return to catch the ferry back to Nova Scotia we again stayed at the MacLellan though on this occasion it was full up. Beakfast was again made to order but with lots of table company this time. Marie made a couple of suggestions for dinners out which but since there are only a couple options nearby she was a little apologettic. We opted to eat dinner earlier on the return trip and grab an ice cream at the nearby store later that evening. very nice accomodation with very friendly hosts.…
We loved the place. Everything was nicely set up with love for details. The hosts are very heartily and the breakfast really good. It is only half an hour to the ferry, settled in an breathtaking landscape.
Marie was so sweet, we arrived late off the ferry and hadn't eaten. she called a great restaurant and asked them to stay open for us. Breakfast was good. The view of the lake and the mountains was so beautiful. Highly recommend.
This was our third stay at the MacLellan. We love it there! The hosts are so very nice. They really make the Inn seem like a home away from home. The MacLellan is squeaky clean. Breakfast choices include different styles of eggs (including an omelette), bacon, toast, two types of juice, and coffee and tea. There were three couples (including my husband and myself) who had breakfast together and it was most enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again.
This B&B is snuggled in the beautiful Codroy Valley about 6 kms off the TransCanada Highway and less than 30 minutes drive from Port Aux Basques. Gerald was a courteous and friendly host. The Pitcher Plant Room was spacious and bright. The bed was very comfortable. It has a great view of the gardens, river and the hills beyond. The breakfast wasn't gourmet. But the cheese omelette with toast was hearty and kept me fueled for hours.
