Very happy with the el portal motel. The room is dated (which im fine with,) and it is very nice and clean. The beds are also comfortable!! The office staff was friendly snd accommodating as well. I will stay here again next time, and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean and comfortable place in beatty!!

Enjoyed our stay at El Portal where the managers were very helpful. The room was quite large and clean. Having muliple sensitivies, I very much appreciated that there were no heavy cleaning chemicals odors. Even the bedding was relatively chemical free. When we had auto problems, they went out of their way to help us out. They helped us pick... More

Great place to stay while exploring Death Valley and surrounding area. If you are particular about your bedding comfort, you will not be disappointed. Superior bed and luxurious sheets. Don't expect a lot of frou frou frills if you are into that, though. Very nice and very helpful front desk.

We needed a stopover en route from Flagstaff to the Sierra and Beatty was it. With limited choices obviously, we looked at TripAdvisor and the reviews were spot-on. This motel is friendly and so well maintained! Right from the phone call to book it, I could tell the owners care. It is a family-run place with the original building dating... More

Check in was amazing, the lady in the front was really nice and welcoming, making us feel at home. Room was huge, a little dated, but very clean and bed comfortable. Bathroom was spacious and had cool toiletries. Beatty is a small town and at night you get the feeling that you are in the middle of nowhere, but if... More

We stayed here as a base for our daily trips to Death Valley. The management was so welcoming with very helpful local knowledge. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was enormous and immaculately clean.....very comfortable bed. A fridge and microwave were included along with reliable, fast wifi. The El Portal proved to be the perfect choice for our Death... More

I found this motel to be a real gem. That being said, no one would ever confuse it with a Ritz or even a Marriott. However, it beats about any hotel or motel I've ever stayed in for value. First, the owner I met was extraordinary in terms of friendliness, helpfulness, and attitude. She's couldn't have done a better job... More

Just stayed one night on our way through Death Valley, we had a great welcome with good recommendations for our route through Death Valley and also places to eat in Beatty. The room was very spacious with comfortable beds. Only complaint was there were no coffee / tea making facilities in the room.

El Portal makes me remember the old, faded-color travel reels they used to show us in grade school. Basic motel, functional, clean, and no-frills. WiFi is good. Service is polite. While the motel is on Main street, it is not the principle road through town, so traffic noise is very minimal.

A very warm welcome with good explanations of what there was to do around and other suggestions. A really big and pleasant room. As a gateway to Death Valley, it is somewhat on the "wrong side" of the main attractions, but the hour's drive was still worth it. No breakfast though.
