My husband and I stayed here for 5 days in June. We loved the hotel with that old vegas style, the stale cigarette smell in the casino was comforting, the food at the cafe was great and cheap. BUT there was an incident that really...More

The EL COrtez is a fun, decent place at a reasonable price. No pool. Just 1/2 block from the Fremont St. Experience which is really something when the sun goes down. Bands, individual musicians, all kinds of shops and casinos in close range. For an elegant dinner, contact the restaurant on the top floor of Binions. One of the nicest in Vegas and easy to get to. Great view from the giant glass windows. Check out the top saxaphonest in the nation in the middle of the street on Fremont. He is unbelievable and plays at the biggest jazz concerts in the world.

Well if your "play" in the casino logs enough hours, you can get the hotel bill waived, including the resort fee. Remember roulette during the day at this place is $0.25 minimums, and they offer $3 min on Craps during the week as well. Even on the weekends you can find $5 BJ and Craps. It's not how much you lose. Like any casino, comps are based on a formula that accounts for your average bet x the amount of time you stay at the tables. If you don't play much then sure you'll get charged the resort fee. Good luck!
