First off: this would be a six-star review if it was solely based on my interaction with Kiara Miranda. She was very quick to respond to a pre-trip email noting the special occasion for which I and a young teen relative were visiting, and even had a cupcake sent up to the room for her birthday, which blew her mind. Thank you, Kiara! I've stayed at this property back when it was a Mandarin Oriental and have always enjoyed its rooms, location, pool, and lack of casino. As a Hilton Diamond member, I was happy to see the property join the family, especially since Diamond status combined with FHR benefits here can be a strong combination of benefits. The property is still beautiful (although the pool was closed when I visited), but there were a few things that I found less than ideal during my visit with a young teen relative: * I'd booked a room with two beds and noted that if there was an upgrade available to a better, larger room that would accommodate a rollaway for my guest, we'd happily take that. At check-in, that subject came up. I was told that there were two different upgrades to such a room available, and the associate described each. It was only when we chose which one we'd like when we were told that would be an extra ~$185/night. Now, I'm not one to try and get something for nothing, but the room I originally booked was eligible for a space-available Diamond upgrade. And if that wasn't available, totally fine. But to be eligible for a free status-based upgrade and then told only after selecting that the upgrade was a paid one was bad form. Had I been told up front, "We have no Diamond SA upgrades available, but we do have XYZ paid upgrades," I would have simply declined and moved on before getting this kid all excited about a fancy room. I think we were eventually upgraded from city to strip view (although that wasn't mentioned), but the way the initial upgrade opportunity was presented was less than ideal. * During the day (at least on weekends), when Skybar is closed and the lounge is being used for tea service, your only option, if you want to entertain guests and have any type of drink, is to sit at a table (not a bar or lounge) at Zen Kitchen. I had a guest arriving for a short meeting on a Sunday afternoon, and the formal seating situation at ZK was less than ideal. A hostess eventually let us sit on the couches in the empty Skybar, which was kind and solution-oriented, but there was no service. I would have made arrangements to meet elsewhere had I known this was the case. I still feel that the WA is a good option if you seek a non-casino luxury hotel and you want to maximize your Hilton / FHR benefits. If I didn't have those benefits to maximize, I would have booked the Four Seasons instead.…
This hotel is a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the strip. Yes, it's fun and exciting to walk through the busy hotels that have lots going on, but it was so nice to come back to a peaceful place after lots of walking in crowds where there's a serene and relaxed vibe. We were also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food! Room service was REALLY delicious, as was the sushi at the on-site restaurant, Zen Kitchen. Afternoon tea was also GREAT, best scones I ever tasted! Staff all around was superb; everyone was very welcoming and helpful. Rooms were always cleaned, and we never even saw the maid service. Very close to Crystals (high end) mall, as well as Eataly Italian food emporium. Highly recommend this hotel if you're visiting Vegas but don't necessarily enjoy having a casino downstairs, making your way through crowds in your lobby, and the loud drunken antics that you see a lot in Vegas. As a bonus, we met an extremely famous musician in the elevator who was playing one of the larger hotels on the strip; apparently he was a guest at the hotel, and wanted to "get away" as well! Overall, highly recommend this hotel for adults. If you're on spring break and want to act like you're 21 again, I'd recommend staying elsewhere. …
Staff not very knowledgeable during check in. Old carpet. Outdated TV. Old piling bathrobe. Amenities in the room is bare minimum. Room is stuffy. Bed is uncomfortable. We did not get much sleep nor rest at all.
Dirty rooms, desperately in need of renovation. Restaurants were crowded and food subpar. Facility is not worthy of its name. Staff, in contrast, was spectacular. Location is great, but Aria is immediately adjacent and a far superior property.
ROOM: The room was spacious and comfortable with a large bathroom. It had a wall of windows that faced the Las Vegas strip and the condos across the way. It was nice to have the natural light in the day and the black out curtains at night to block out all Vegas lights. SERVICE: Service was good, especially from the room service staff. LOCATION: The hotel is located on the Las Vegas strip and was a particularly convenient walk to Aria and the Cosmopolitan hotels. OTHER: It is a non-casino hotel which we liked. It was quiet and if we wanted to gamble, casino hotels were just a short walk away. Room service was delicious.
