I was very impressed with the hotel. It is very clean and modern. The staff was friendly. Only problem they had no non-smoking rooms available so we got stuck with a smoking room and for people who don't smoke it was a problem. But other than that no problems.

I have stayed on Fremont Street many times, but this was the first time I stayed at the California. I was not totally turned off of the hotel, but I was not super impressed. The hotel is old, so it is normal to smell smokey. If the smell of stale smoke bothers you, do not stay here. The smell in...

Caitlyn, thank you for your feedback. We have just undergone an extensive remodel of the casino, restaurants and hotel rooms. The west tower hotel rooms were remodeled last fall and we plan to remodel the east tower rooms this summer. We hope that you will give us another chance after we complete our renovations. See you soon.

Room was comfortable front desk staff was helpful and pleasant. Bell station staff very hepful. Paradise bistro service not great at all. Always had to ask for coffee refill at the breakfast buffett. This is the only part of the California hotel that needs imorovement. Staff at Paradise bistro seem unhappy and other patrons there noticed this too

We are from Hawaii and the hotel was recommended by friends. The hotel caters to Hawaiians and has food that caters to Hawaiian tastes. The food was moderately priced in the four restaurants and several of the meals my wife and I had were very good and others maybe OK. The negatives: It is an older hotel located down town...

The room was beautiful with a huge TV. It was very quiet. The staff was very nice and helpful. Very close to Fremont street. The only problem we had was no Wi Fi in the room. But that's probably why the price is so low. I just took my laptop to the lobby when I needed to use it. Great place

Nice, clean room with a great view of the parking deck and the dumpsters. Terribly unhelpful staff. A 40 year team member at the cashier cage didn't know how the ATM worked, nor was able to explain their odd slot machine card system. Front desk seemed to busy to bother with us when checking in. Resort has nothing to do...

The California's recent renovations/remodel have really freshened up both the main floors. Our room in the West tower was small but comfortable, fortunately the weather in Vegas was cool because our room air conditioner didn't work. The bathroom/vanity area is very small, almost cruiseship-like. Because the California hotel has such a loyal clientele from Hawaii (my wife and I are...

For the past year Cal has been doing a complete remodel of the property. Currently working on east tower. Try for rooms in west tower, facing west toward MSS. Sportsbook is now downstairs with 20 big screens and $15 buckets of beers(6 beers). Eat at Market street for their $9.99 prime rib which includes salad bar, potato or rice, veggie,...
