Golden Gate sent me 3 nights comped in March and 3 in April. Very generous considering my very conservative play and that I gamble there at most 3 times a year (Craps only at $50 to $100 buy ins each time). Not only was the rate comped on a fairly busy weekend, but the resort fee also waived! Awesome deal!...

The oldest hotel in the downtown district and possibly the best. Great atmosphere and prices friendly staff. Spent a New Years Eve there and enjoyed the wonderful mix of out of town guests and locals who know where to party. Will stay there again.

I booked the Hotel on Expedia due to its location and price point. I did not know it is the oldest hotel in Vegas, 111 years old! The room we had was very noisy and drafty, and it was pretty small. The bathroom was small also, but had the neat old-style tilework in the shower/tub area. If you were sitting...

For many years the Golden Gate Casino was one of my favorite places to play. It isn't anymore. As a matter of fact we walked in, turned around and walked right back out the door. I supposed the new owner wants to attract the 30 year old crowd because they music was so loud I couldn't even hear my husband...

A very old hotel that has been remodeled but still needs a lot of work. The beds are not very comfortable. It is very European looking and the hallways are a little creepy. The showers are the tub kind but did have good water pressure. If you need a cheap room and don't mind a little noise from Freemont street...

Being in an amazing old hotel such as the Golden Gate Hotel and Casino was a great experience. The staff were all very helpful and the atmosphere was great; personally I loved walking through the casino to get to Fremont Street and passing by all of the card tables and slot machines. The old school style of the hotel itself...

We stayed for 2 nights in February. We were in the "old" part of the hotel so the hallway was a little shining-esq but it was clean, so that was all that really mattered. The room was decorated so the furnishings were nice but the walls could use a fresh coat and paint and the bathrooms really need an overhaul....

Reading reviews of this cool old hotel makes me think I must be in an entirely different facility. The staff is lovely and kind. Rooms are gorgeous. I haven't heard a peep of noise. If you don't want noise from Fremont then book a suite. The suites are awesome and on the back side away from Fremont and just a...

Always come to golden gate when in Vegas. Over 20 years. Just to get shrimp cocktail. 3/27/2017. No shrimp, no restaurant. No plans to bring back. Casino just packed with smoke ,rude workers and tons of slot machines.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Accurately billed as Las Vegas' "Most Historic Hotel," the Golden Gate has stood the test of time and then some. Since opening as the Hotel Nevada in 1906, this modest and cozy corner establishment has stood placidly at One Fremont Street while the town -- and the world -- changed around it. Most notably, the Fremont Street Experience was built right outside its door. Very little has changed to compromise the hotel's old school charm in the intervening years, although the Golden Gate has made improvements and modernized. The hotel remains proudly dwarfed by its neighbors, at just 106 rooms. The rooms themselves, on the other hand, have been updated and include modern amenities like flat screen televisions and iHome clock radios. The casino is just as active as opening day -- and just as intimate -- although now its boasts Dealer Dancers from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. nightly. Its shrimp cocktail -- widely acknowledged as the first ever served in Las Vegas -- is as popular as the day it was introduced. Even as Las Vegas builds toward the heavens, the Golden Gate keeps close to the ground, rooted in its rich and wildly successful history. ... more   less
