Accurately billed as Las Vegas' "Most Historic Hotel," the Golden Gate has stood the test of time and then some. Since opening as the Hotel Nevada in 1906, this modest and cozy corner establishment has stood placidly at One Fremont Street while the town -- and the world -- changed around it. Most notably, the Fremont Street Experience was built right outside its door. Very little has changed to compromise the hotel's old school charm in the intervening years, although Golden Gate has made improvements and modernized. The hotel remains proudly dwarfed by its neighbors, at just 106 rooms. The rooms themselves, on the other hand, have been updated and include modern amenities like flat screen televisions and iHome clock radios. The casino is just as active as opening day - and just as intimate - although now its boasts Dealer Dancers from 6PM to 2 AM. Even as Las Vegas builds toward the heavens,Golden Gate keeps close to the ground, rooted in its rich and wildly successful history.

Been coming regularly for business and pleasure since they remodeled the place. Been awesome with the free parking and low room rates. Love the vibe. Everything is so close and if you go when it is warm it is a rock party every night on the street.

Hotel's Favourite
Such a gem of a hotel. Really like the vintage feel and the friendly staff. The rooms are very comfortable considering the age of the hotel. The black and white photos of the movie stars of the 1940's and 50's are neat to look at and an important part of Las Vegas history. Love coming back every time.

The building has a lot of history. It's at the end of Fremont so you get to have music right outside the casino doors and walk the Fremont Experience with ease. The rooms are cute but unfortunately, ours was very hot. Due to it not being "summer season" we weren't able to get any cool air in the room, so we opted for a box fan. It was still very hot and sweaty for sleeping.

Old town Vegas hotel with great charm. Rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Right on Fremont Street where there are may things to do and all within walking distance. Great food choices, bars and entertainment are right there. No worries having to drive to the next hot spot.

Every October a group of us go to Las Vegas for 4 days of casino action and good food and drink. I love the Golden Gate Casino and the recent improvements and remodeling. It has drastically improved in the quality of the finishes and the overall feel of the place. I first learned to play craps there in the 80's and love the history of the place. Never stayed at the hotel though. Recommend a visit to check out the remodeled casino and the great staff and dealers.

What are the hours of the restaurant? Lounge?
There is no place to eat at the Golden Gate. The bar is open 24 hours. If you have comps they can be redeemed at The D casino. The 4 Queens has the best prime rib and Hash House at the Plaza has excellent breakfast and lunch. Both are just short walks.
