I stayed here two nights on a road trip. This was my reno gambling stop, and I picked the Cal-Neva because I have been staying at the Sands, and wanted a change. The main difference is that Cal-Neva was *slightly* cheaper, and much better placed geographically. Get a room as high as possible, because the windows open up--which in the...

My Wife and I live in California. Every year, after the snow stops, we start booking rooms at Cal Neva, Reno. We drive the 250 miles to Reno as often as possible. This has been a tradition with us for more than 15 years and will continue to be for many more. We enjoy the genuine friendliness, assistance, and cleanliness...

My husband and I have made Cal Neva our quick getaway place to stay at. You cannot beat the price of the room and the service. The dealers and the people at the Casino have always been very nice to us. Me and my husband like that Old School feel that Cal Neva has. You also can't beat the prices...

I had a free three night stay. I stayed out the frist night, the second night I was laying in the bed and saw bugs on the sheets. Called down to front desk they sent up a rude man to tell me to call back down if I want another room. The (gentleman) right took the sheets off and I...

If you want to stay in the heart of downtown Reno, and price is a factor, this is the place for you. Midweek (Sun through Thurs) rates are $29/night, Friday and Saturday are $59 and $69 respectively, with some exceptions like holidays and special events. There are essentially 4 hotels in the downtown core, within a block of each other....

Rooms are cheap; service is friendly; but atmosphere is that of a home for transients -- obivously long term residents using it as that. Stairwell in parking garage should be avoided -- a urinal.

Arrived and NO reservation. Called Slots Manager 3 times on his cell since it was his day off - NO ANSWER NO RETURN CALL. Rate went from $30 to $159. Further investigation showed this employee had made reservation for March 24 instead of April 24. Yes he did a reservation for Tuesday March 24 and March 24 is a Saturday....

The price was excellent! I was afraid this was going to be a dump for the price we paid, but was surprised when we arrived. The rooms we newly remodeled and the beds were very comfortable. The elevator is scary and slow. The staff were nice and it turned out to be a good stay. We would return.

Started playing the penny machines on the main floor and within about 40 minutes the machine hit. So, it payed out $275, also playing max. bet This would have to be one of Reno's original Casino's, so it is "dated" as other reviewers have commented. I went to eat one of the specials in the dining room for about $4.99,...

We stayed over Super Bowl weekend, When we checked in our room we were shocked at all the cigarette burns in the carpet and drapes, the sheer curtains had 3 large tears in them. We settled in our room and went to casino, when we returned to the room I tripped over the carpet in the door way (it wasn't...
