We checked into the Ridge and found that their COVID19 process was very good. There was communication via text as to what to do and it all went quickly and efficiently, not so with some of the other “gerbil wheels” we have experienced with other processes. The reception team gets an A on that one.
The property is located at 7,500’ and the view and forests are breathtaking. There is a heavy haze from fires near Reno but there is no noticeable smell of smoke. The temperature is in the low 80’s on the mountain and the evenings cool off nicely with the windows open. Try for a room as high as possible (we are on floor 7) facing the lake and close the curtains when you get up to prevent the rooms from the morning sun heating the rooms. Fans are provided but the altitude and air make for some dry noses! Bring along a spray sinus moisturizer. There are plenty of activities and things to do on property but no conceriege to help with off site activities.
We stay at many time shares around the world and most have some difficulties to overcome and each have strengths and weaknesses.
The suites are large and comfortable and were easy to locate with the maps provided. Parking is good but somewhat limited in covered spaces. The living and bedrooms are furnished and clean, not so for the kitchen and baths. Both bathrooms had dust, hair and dirt in the corners and tubs. The shampoo and soaps provided were small, too small, easily dropped while showering. The hair in baths and showers was areal turnoff. The master bath had no bath towels, small pool towels were substituted and after a longer than wished wait, arrived.
We were preparing dinner and needed a spatula to flip some pancakes and there was none to be found. After 2 calls and 60 minutes later, a person showed up with a frying pan. When I called, politely to point out the wait and incorrect delivery, I was told by the operator.... (this is a major reason for my lower rating) “You know, there are 900 rooms.” WHAT! I pointed out that they were certainly not close to full occupancy and what does that have to do with poor service! Either you are in the tourist business or not, that is management’s issue, not mine and should never be communicated as an excuse. I have to admit that I have not heard that one used! I have heard that there is low staff but that’s not my problem either. I could blame the reception operator but is actually poor management process and lack of training! Shame on you Holiday Inn Vacation group.
We may return but will certainly will explore our other travel accommodations.

Believe me, I was a bit skeptical returning to the Ridge after I read some horrible reviews. Prior to our arrival, I called to confirm our reservation and to request a unit that would include a washer/dryer. It did take me three attempts, until I finally spoke to someone. Either they left me on hold or hung up on me. Check-in was surprisingly quick. The Ridge took all precautionary measures and gave me all the needed information. We stayed at the Plaza building, third level, where it was extremely clean and comfortable. The 2 bdrm. unit that I reserved from Interval International had a washer/dryer as requested and fans for the bedrooms. There was plenty of parking, even though it was the 4th of July week. The hiking trails behind the tennis courts were amazing. During the week, we grilled twice, while our girls played tennis, at the indoor courts. We didn't use the blue shuttle, only because we spent most of our time at the Lake. Overall, it was a great stay. If there would any suggestions, it would be to give a bit more training to the reservationist on customer service skills, so they can answer calls accordingly.

This is a complex of 7 buildings the experience is quite different depending on what building you are in. First stay was up near the office. Easy access to the tram which takes you to the ski lifts along with the pools and spa. However the rooms seemed a little worn. Fully equipped kitchen, humidifiers in rooms and two bedrooms connected by common living area.
The second set of buildings are located farther away from the ski lifts and the large pool but do have a small on site, closed at the time we visited, pool and spa. This two bedroom unit was two separate rooms, one with a full size kitchen and living area the other with galley kitchen and sofa. This unit seemed to be either newer or more recently updated.

We rented five 2-bedroom condos for my 50th birthday celebration. The staff at the Ridge were so helpful in making sure we were all in the same building and on the same floor. This resort is very spread out so being all together made a huge difference.

The rooms were very nice and clean. We had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. I will also note that these condos are really sound proof. We were all playing games in one room and you couldn't even hear us in the hallway. Big bonus! No air conditioning, but because it's up so high there is a very nice breeze that goes through the condo when the windows are open. There are ceiling fans that work very well in each bedroom and in the family room. We didn't have any issues with it being too hot.

One thing I will say is the bed is a sleep number. None of us figured that out the first night (probably didn't pay attention close enough), but all our beds were on the hardest setting so we all felt like we were sleeping on a brick. The next day everyone figured it out and those that wanted softer beds adjusted their sleep numbers and were in heaven. Sadly our sleep number was broken so we were stuck with a very hard bed. Made the best of it. I did talk to the front desk and they sent engineering right away. They made some adjustments but it didn't help much. When we checked out, they told us that those beds are at the end of their life cycles and they will be switched out in the coming months/year. But like I said, the sleep numbers that worked well were amazing.

We enjoyed pickleball, the pool, hot tub, and the fantastic restaurant in the main lodge. We had 6 teenagers with us and they enjoyed ping pong, the pool table, and various games in the main lodge.

There is underground parking for cars and easy access to the elevators to our rooms. We would absolutely stay here again. Fantastic experience.

From reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, we didn't expect much but we were desperate to get in our car and take a road trio. We booked a studio for a week , but unfortunately our low expectation were confirmed and we left early.

We had a studio in the Tower Building and when I called to ask about the "kitchenette" I was told that the studios in that building had a cooktop as well as a microwave and refrigerator. Our unit had NO cooktop and we were told that we were not eligible to be assigned to a unit with a cooktop, even though they had plenty of availability. This would not have been a problem if we had been told that in advance, but we had brought food that needed cooking in order to avoid restaurants during COVID. Ended up eating a lot of sandwiches and throwing away a lot of the food we had brought.

The resort itself is in a nice location but is unremittingly ugly with bad architecture and has not withstood the test of time. The room itself was pleasant and looked to have been recently redecorated. There is NO air conditioning and only two of the four windows in our room were operable. Also, very few units have balconies.

They did seem to take seriously the need for sanitary cleaning and wearing masks. Unfortunately that did not seem to be the case in the towns and beaches that surrounded Lake Tahoe. Large crowds and little mask use convinced us to limit our activities to outdoor locations away from the crowds.

Lake Tahoe is a beautiful destination but we will not return to this timeshare.

Our family has been coming to the Ridge for the last quarter century. This is the most disappointing stay ever.

I'm an IHG Platinum member. Note that there is no welcome gift, no upgrade, no acknowledgment at all of status.

You might see advertised that you can buy high speed internet, but that's no longer true. All rooms have the same generic login and we've been unable to use ours consistently for the past few days. It crashed again as I write this, so had to resort to my phone's hot spot.

Small things, like a room that hadn't been cleaned after we dragged our luggage there after check in, an inoperable instant hot water dispenser in our new room, spa lockers that don't lock, or electronic door locks that don't respond to the key so you're stuck outside in 30 degree weather until someone can let you into the building...those things make the resort seem cheap. I'm not used to that here at the Ridge. Is this the new norm?

Tonight I stepped out into the hallway, which smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, and saw a woman running towards me from down the hall, quickly hiding her cigarette behind her back, dashing into an open room and closing the door. This is trash behavior (smoke if you want, but not inside and not in a room clearly marked non-smoking). And outside another door, next to mine, the guests have left a small bag containing a dirty diaper, twice - even though the garbage chute is about 5 yards away.

The worst part of the stay was at check in, I got a hard sell to go to a morning one on one meeting to talk about "my benefits." You know, I already have an expensive ownership in the Ridge, and come here to relax. Getting a sales person (two, actually) trying to push me into a meeting after a 4 hour drive, with my family waiting to check in, is not my idea of accommodation. And, the lobby now has an area that's roped off labeled "owners lounge" but to get to it you have to pass through the salesmen again. Not only is this not inviting, it's incredibly infuriating. I've never considered selling this membership, but now I am.

We have been owners for almost 20 years and enjoy coming up a few times a year. We were in desperate need of an escape because of the pandemic and were looking forward to a change of scenery. I started looking at the reviews since it has been 2 years since we've been up and I'm not going to lie I was nervous.

When we arrived check in was excellent. We waited in our car and received a text saying to check in to the lobby. Our room was ready and off we went. We stayed in the Cascade building. They DO NOT have any air conditioners in the rooms and are stuffy and even a bit hot. We opened the windows and balcony door to air it out. A swamp cooler and fans were provided. The cleanliness of the rooms are questionable. You would think they would be even more clean with the pandemic but I guess there really is a labor shortage as I did notice some items on the floor. We ran the dishwasher immediately so all the dishes were clean and wiped down all services to make sure everything was sanitized (we never have done this while on vacation). Over all the room was great and clean enough. I didn't feel that it was filthy just some overlooked items on the floor.

We also spent a lot of time at the pool. The stairway to the pool is in desperate need of repair and seems like a trip hazard waiting to happen. Myself and family were pleased with the resort and our stay. Can't wait for the next time.

My family has owned a timeshare here for the last 25 years. It has always been great - very close access to skiing, can see Lake Tahoe and the valley, lots of amenities and activities (even in COVID times) and lovely staff. We just stayed for a week and my only complaint is that the room could’ve been cleaned a little better (spots left in kitchen, moldy soap in shower, moldy drain tray in fridge) but otherwise everything is in great shape and we love staying here whenever we do! We skied for two days - the skier express has such quick access to Stagecoach Lodge. We participated in a snowshoe hike and played racquetball. Whatever we needed, the staff was very prompt about making sure we got it. Thanks for another great stay!

After reading reviews I was hesitant about the resort. After arrival & check in we were pleasantly surprised w 2 bed unit in the Tower. Very nice, carpet and couches not the best but everything there you could need. One bedroom was extremely hot but staff helped get us fans to get the air moving. We made conscience effort to keep drapes drawn during sunniest times of day. It did help, although the windows are in fact screwed shut and will not open. We hardly heard a peep out of anyone else in building and it was a very restful vacation. The shuttle was convenient to run to town, and the resort had a lot of outdoor activities to offer. There is a pool closer to the preview center that was quieter & more secluded. Who doesn't mind a pool with a mtn view? I would definitely like to return.

I have been going to the Ridge for many years and worried that htis year wouldn't be as good since there had been so many negative reviews recently. The check in and check out process went very smoothly and I felt that the resort staff were trying their best to be helpful although I think they may be short staffed. The tennis pro, Adam, is great and the tennis program is well done. My husband went on the hikes that were provided and he enjoyed them as well. The gym was open and masks were required, but I often noticed people working out without their masks-a sign is needed in the gym reminding people to wear their masks. They provided disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer in the gym. Our unit was clean and we had mid week housekeeping who did a good job.
