Everything I needed for a tent camping trip. I felt very secure. No Moose! I enjoyed a campfire almost every night and most mornings. Lots of local services nearby. I used this as a base for shamrock tours of New Hampshire. Even made a stop at Bike Week.

We rented the smallest cabin for four nights. All of my comments are based on that cabin. Other/bigger cabins might be set up differently. As with all of my reviews, I think that expectations being met make or break a trip.

The rate was reasonable. Our cabin was very clean, lots of hot water for showers (great water pressure), small air conditioner which kept the cabin pretty cool, screened windows, nice t.v. with cable, radio, alarm clock. There is a fireplace in the cabin for Duraflame logs only, but not sure you could really use it as the small kitchen table and two folding chairs for dining are very close to the fireplace.

Cabin includes a very comfortable bed (on the hard side which we like), four pillows, clean/comfortable bedding, nice towels, paper towels, Kleenex, toilet paper, dish soap, pans for cooking, plates, silverware. Bring napkins if you plan to eat in the room. Also, they have an apartment size fridge, coffee maker, toaster and microwave. There is a small sink with two electric units for cooking connected to the side.

Outside the cabin front door was a small cement entryway that had a roof cover (not enclosed) with two chairs, nearby was a picnic table on the grass, and a small grated area for a firepit.
Tips: They supply small bar of soap and small shampoo (nice surprise), but if you are staying for more than a night, bring your own bath soap and shampoo. No hairdryer or iron/iron board. Bring your own if this is important. They do have a container of hand soap for the bathroom which was another nice amenity. There were coffee filters in one of the drawers, but not sure if that is usual or left from the last occupants.

Bring your own towels for the river/pool. Housekeeping is not every day like a hotel (I’m not sure how often, maybe once a week?) There are lots of towels in the room for showers, but you will want your own for other water activities.

Amenities: On site, there is a salt water pool (very clean), mini golf, arcade with a pool table, I think horseshoes (but couldn’t tell if those were on someone’s RV site), cute play area for kids with swings/slides, etc., clean laundry room, and a very well supplied store. This store had a little of EVERYTHING, and the prices were reasonable. Check out their gold panning stuff and try it on the river! I see from other reviews that there might be someone at the river who will give tips, but we never met that person. I asked in the store about more info on the gold panning, and the (older) woman said she didn’t have any idea and couldn’t say. That was ok. We’ve panned before in other states and were just there to relax. But, if we had never done it before, it might have been helpful and fun to have someone who was in the store at a scheduled ½ hour a day or something to ask questions of. Maybe there was a sign in the store about the person at the river, but we didn’t see it and the woman didn’t point it out to us, so I’m thinking not. They could probably sell a lot more of the gold panning stuff if they had more info.
The cabins are across the street from the river. Very easy walk. But, bring good water shoes to climb down and over wet rocks, (or they sell them in the store – very good ones at great prices). It’s a little tricky to get down into the river. They also rent tubes and provide transport up the river for people to ride down the river. Lots of families were doing this, and it sounded like they enjoyed it a lot! The water was warmer than I expected, even though it was August, I thought it would be freezing for a mountain river. It was cold, but I got in without a problem and I HATE cold water!

There were lots of families, and some dogs, but it was quiet and friendly. Lots of firepits burning at night, so might be something to consider if you have breathing problems.
Tips (for the smallest cabin only – I don’t know the setup of the other cabins): We totally enjoyed our stay, but there are some things to mention so that you have the right expectations if you visit.

There is no storage area (in the smallest cabin). There were hooks behind the door in the bedroom to hang a few hangers on (hangers included – another surprise!), but nothing in the bedroom or cabin to put things into – no closets or drawers). So, our bags were out in the living area and in the small corner of the bedroom. It was ok for a few days for two people with no kids/toys, etc.

There’s a futon in the living area (not comfortable to sit on and can’t imagine how crowded the room would be if it was pulled out to sleep on) and a hard chair (almost like an office waiting room chair) to sit on. Since you can’t see the t.v. from the bedroom, it was uncomfortable to try to watch tv or just sit and relax indoors. Probably not so bad for younger people, but we’re a bit older (late 50’s), and other than the bed, there wasn’t anything comfortable to sit on. The chairs outside are hard plastic, and the chairs at the dining table are regular folding metal chairs (small cushions on them). I have to say, this was probably more noticeable since the weather was not really great and we spent more time indoors than we normally would.

The only other thing that was a bit of an inconvenience was that in the bedroom there is nothing near the bed on either side like a table or shelf. I like to have a bottle of water nearby when I go to sleep, but I had to put it outside the bedroom on the table in the living area. In the dark, that’s a bit inconvenient. Not huge, but it would be nice to have a little shelf or something near the bed.

Tip to Owners: Where to put the dirty bath towels? There wasn’t anywhere to put them and since there is no housekeeping, that was something we wondered about. We use them over again and don’t need them changed every day, but after 4 days, there were dirty face towels, etc. Where to put them? We didn’t need more, and maybe there was a drop off somewhere, but we were kind of walking over them by the end of our stay. Maybe a netted bag on the hook on the back of the bathroom door to put them in?

All in all, we were pleasantly surprised at the amenities, the friendliness of everyone, and the cleanliness of the campground and the cabin. We would definitely visit again.

Family owned campground just isn't what it used to be. We travel with 50 or more people every year here, I've personally been going with my family for a 6+ years (the rest of the group for 15) and we enjoy the extras like theme bbq night, ice cream socials, DJ karaoke, ceramics, bingo etc.. as cheesey as all these sound, we all love them and all do them every year until, they go away. Now there aren't anymore kiddie friendly activities. Overall I think there are so many RULES that it's hard to just have fun. If you are in the pool and look around you can see the work "no" about 100 times, how about a sign that says have fun? At 7:59pm you get the announcement that the pool is closing in 1 min, and they mean it, get out! How about look and if there are 15 people swimming and having FUN, (I know not a word they know well) then give them a 15 min warning. It's those small things that go so far. The DJ was a blast for everyone and now it gone, again small things, bring it back or folks aren't coming back. Why is your free WiFI only until 8pm? Just make it longer, again, the small things?

I did have a nice greeting from a woman that works there, when I finally found someone to check me in but we did like the place and our cottage was nice enough we had big trouble with the furnace (gas), which was unplugged when we first got there so we plugged and was not working so they came in and pilot light was out and making very loud noises (scary), we did not feel safe there at all. So this went on all night and the next morning we had to keep tracking them down tell them it is still not working. We did not want to spend another night there with no heat and our bathroom sink was totally clogged and stopper was broke which they did come and fix. When the young woman came into to our cottage to return some of our money (which I requested) she tries to blame it on the the gas man that delivered the next morning after we were having trouble already with the furnace all night and the next morning. (I did not like her blaming him) Let just be honest here.

I am first going to start off writing about the positive points of this campground and then go into a very bad experience.
The campground is VERY clean. Sites were immaculate and very roomy and nice and grassy. We stayed over the labor day weekend and they had activities for the kids which was fun. We took part in the ceramics, bouncy house, flashlight candy hunt and fireworks. All of that was great. The staff was also very nice.
Now for the bad experience. We were situated next to a VERY large family reunion. That being said, I'm all about family as we were 3 sites ourselves. The problem was that the owners allowed campers and tents on the same sites and many vehicles. There were just too many people in one small area. So, for 3 nights straight we were kept up very late into the night because of their music playing, loud voices, kids screaming and lots of drinking(drunks). The 10pm quiet hour was not enforced to my liking. My neighbors were extremely rude and were talked to by the owners, but 5 mins later they would start back up again. We complained many times, but the owners yelled/reprimanded, but no real action was taken. By the 3rd night police actually had to step in. I believe if the owners addressed the situation earlier in the weekend it would not have come to that. I also felt very concerned for our camper and vehicle as they were so close to the party. And the party kept encroaching on our site. They would pass through it like it was theirs. It was not a very relaxing weekend. Especially when I have a 2 year old who still takes naps. It was a very trying and disappointing weekend.

Just returned from my fourth trip to Twin River Campground. Clearly I enjoy my time there! The campground has so much to offer. There is a river to tube down with very reasonable rates to rent the tube and get shuttled up to the launch. There is a river to pan gold in (for real). The first time I went to the campground I thought it was a hoax! While panning for gold in the river we met Judy- she works for the campground and is always so nice and helpful. I didn't know anything about panning for gold but she took the time to explain the process from start to finish! The campground also has a nice big salt water pool- so refreshing after a day in the river. They also have a game room, playground and mini golf course for kids. Our sites were across the street along the river. Very private and spacious. We choose the sites without electricity because the view of the river is so beautiful it is worth going without electricity.

Some of the sites are in the middle of a field- if that is not your thing- just make sure you mention that when you book your stay!

The facilities are very nice and are also very clean. The camp store is very well stocked- one of the better camp stores that I have been in.

Thank you Twin River and Judy for another great experience!

Campground is in a field with no trees right next to the highway 302. They are not kid friendly. We went with a group of 6 campers with 12 children ranging from 5 to 19. Children got yelled at for everything. Do Not Jump In Pool, they will yell in front of everyone! Kids were told not to ride bikes in front of store. When confronting owner, reply was "we're not use to that many kids". 4 wheeling trails were railroad beds - 7 miles one way, 17 the other way. I do have to say Scott is the nicest one to talk to. This campground will not be a repeat.

Have stayed here before ( Last June ) . Planned another larger trip for this year ( Aug 20th ). Based upon the current economic situation in this country , we needed to cancel our plans, ( a week plus 7-26 ) , before our arrival date . We are now being charged $ 70.00 for cancelling . What angers and upsets me more than the $70 charge , is the attitude of Sandy , ( I believe she is the owner ) on the message she left and then the phone conversation we had . It was a matter of fact attitude , did not care to listen to me at all !!!!!! When I commented on their cancellation policy , she said " It does not matter , we are going to charge your card !! "
We had a nice time when we stayed , but I will never go there again !!!!! I refuse to be treated this way , especially when I was following their printed policy !!
My advice to you is , do not make a reservation unless you are sure you can commit !!
Sandy , I hope you resolve whatever problem is consuming you ! I am also a business owner !!

Scott is the worst useless thing of a person. The most rude and obnoxious thing on the planet! He almost got his face smashed in when he started about the permit thing! I do not take kindly to someone telling me that he has to see my permit when I will not be doing anything on his precious property! Also what the hell is the thing over on the river side? Man I tell you will never go back to this waste of time! Plus what a dump this has become! The river showers are never clean and bugs all over their showers and what nots on the floor! OMG just nasty! I guess the dike does not do her/his job!! I think they get there water from the river smells like sewer and as dark as the river! This place has become the nastiest place over the years! Never will step foot there again!

The only good thing about this campground is the fact that there is WiFi and clean bathrooms. The owners are awful and unfriendly. The owner actually rode up on her golf cart to ask us to be quiet in the morning because she heard “The kids laughing” at 6:30 am. Not one person in our entire group came out of our tents until 7:30. I tried to explain this but was talked over and decided to let it go. Shockingly rude. The entire place is plastered with “Rules” and the owners police the place constantly. Any activities outside of the pool cost additional money. For $40 a night you would think mini golf and the ice cream social would be included. The only reason we didn’t leave is because we didn’t want to forfeit the $360 we paid. This is a great campsite if you’re 90 and you hate fun. There are so many significantly better places close by that actually like people to spend your money.

"There are two non-electric tent sites on the river side which are very private and beautiful. The cabins along the river look pretty nice, although not much privacy. The 4 tents sites are pretty nice, R9 being the only one right on the river if you don't mind sharing the walkway down to the river with the other campers. You may want to avoid that one if your dog barks at people."
