My partner and I really loved our stay at the Inn. We slept and had dinner at the Inn. The rooms, a re-creation of what the inn looked like in the 1940s, were immaculately clean and extremely well appointed. The dinner was fabulous (the chef used vegetables and fruits from their garden) and so was breakfast the next morning.

We just loved our stay here. The room was beautifully appointed, spacious (we were upgraded to a larger room at no charge), very clean, and looked out over the back yard and gardens. The en suite bathroom was also well sized and also very clean. We slept like babies. Each morning, our breakfast was perfectly cooked and served promptly with...

Warm host & hostess in a quaint country inn setting. We had drink and dinner here. beautifully furnished and an outback flower garden. You need to say "hi" to Katie the beagle tied in the back yard. There were 6 in our party and the service was great!

After dining at the Horse & Hound Inn a couple years ago, we vowed to return for a winter getaway of XC skiing, another fabulous meal, and a stay at this gorgeous country Inn. Even with such a "high bar", our expectations were exceeded. From our first welcome at the door to our final goodbyes, we were treated like house...

This will be our go-to inn for future visits to Franconia. The staff was incredibly attentive and gracious. We felt right at home. Our room was simple - comfortable, fresh and spotless. We loved the understated cozy decor in the common areas. Breakfast was classic, well-prepared fare with excellent coffee. I'm skeptical of small-town inn fine dining but we're very...

Hats off to the owners of this wonderful inn. Restored to perfection. Wooden panels, fire places, cosy corners, books and board games. The bar is sufficiently stocked. The dining room is divine - the food is even better (breakfast and dinner options will delight the taste buds). We recommend a night cap in the library complete with background music and...

Went up for a short 2 night stay and wish we could have stayed longer. The Inn is on a quiet road and very quaint without being kitschy. The rooms are large and the inn has a nicely decorated library, lobby, bar and dining area. The staff were incredibly friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. Only a short drive from the Franconia...

Our guestroom at the Horse and Hound was spacious but slightly spartan – a refreshing change of style after staying in a number of historic-house b&b’s full – sometimes to overflowing - of interesting furniture and curios. The Horse and Hound’s common areas have been beautifully renovated/restored and furnished in a rather different, rustic style. We particularly enjoyed the ambiance...

Out of town, but conveniently located to all the outdoor attractions. It has been completely renovated during the last few years and presents itself well. For those of you who like hardwood floors, a large wood paneled reading room with tea and coffe provided and comfortable rooms, you should enjoy this inn. Very peaceful and quiet setting backing up on...

This is a beautifully restored inn with a wonderful chef on staff. The food was delicious. The owner has a beagle named Katie and she was very sweet. It is set in a quite location but close to the freeways and natural attractions in and around Franconia. The furniture in the bedrooms was custom made by local craftsmen.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
THE RETURN OF A CLASSIC. The Horse and Hound, located in the rugged White Mountains of New Hampshire, first opened in 1946 as a tasteful inn, tavern and restaurant. With three fireplaces and knotty pine paneling throughout, the inn welcomed everyone from Hollywood stars to local outdoor enthusiasts and quickly established a reputation for great food, elegant lodging and warm hospitality. Now celebrating its 65th anniversary, the Horse and Hound was closed from December 2010 through June 2011 while undergoing a comprehensive restoration to its classic lodge style. Now completed, the cheerful tavern, gracious dining room, elegant lobby, handsome library/lounge, and nine restful guest rooms once again invite you to unwind and relax after an active day in the Great Outdoors. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to welcoming you back. FOOD, SPORT & STEWARDSHIP OF THE GREAT OUTDOORS. ... more   less
