There isn’t anything wrong with this place per se. The suite was big (too big), bed was comfy and my teen said he slept well on the fold out sofa bed and he liked the fitness room (although the barbell weight clips were hidden away). We were disappointed the hot tub was broken due to a storm surge earlier in the week (that was the reason we chose to stay here over other options in the area). But the surge also affected the heat, which we learned by the room being 80 degrees with the thermostat off. Mainly what we didn’t like were the paternalistic rules. Lots of them. We felt anxious and uncomfortable, as though we were somehow at risk of breaking a rule. This was most apparent in the “grab and go” breakfast area, where an employee hovered over us continually telling us what to do and not do, and insisted on filling my travel mug for me lest I pushed the lever on the coffee dispenser incorrectly. This woman stood too close and made us both anxious - I wouldn’t stay here again just to avoid interacting with her. On day one I brought a small bag to carry my items back since we were staying in the opposite end of the hotel. The next day there was a “No bags” sign (with a pictograph of a grocery bag with a line through it) and we were told not to “go shopping” although we were allowed to carry the same exact items to our room (or could place them on a tray). Because we were on the “Suites” side, there were other, different rules from the hotel side - you must strip the sheets (which they said was due to Covid - which makes no sense - do the sheets on the Suites side transmit Covid while the sheets on the hotel side are sterile?) take out your garbage and recycling at the end of your stay (the dumpsters are at the other end of the parking lot from the suites) and you have to check out an hour earlier (10 vs 11) even though you have to get up earlier to do your own housekeeping. On top of that, there are multiple signs in the room asking you to leave tips for the housekeepers, and an envelope with a suggestion of $4-6 per day per person. Really? Because I should pay extra when I take 4 days of my own garbage out instead of 2 days’ worth? I’m fine tipping when someone makes my bed and cleans the bathroom, but this was just annoying.…
Just returned from a week away in the lovely Lake Winnipesaukee area (first time there), Our stay at the Fireside Inn was perfect. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and nicely appointed. Our king size bed was very comfortable. Each morning's "grab and go" breakfast was a very nice addition to our stay (especially on a snowy day). In particular, the staff was wonderful--very personable and accommodating. Thank you to Kristal and Debbie at the front desk, Barbara in the cafe, and Zeke in housekeeping. Thank you!
Fireside Inn & Suites was a marvelous place to stay. Their staff is friendly, professional and always helpful. Their daily breakfast (to go) was fantastic and a great idea for serving food while keeping everyone safe during the pandemic. We loved the pool and hot-tub and I even worked out once in their exercise room during my stay. Overall, I was very pleased and would return again.
The room was fine. We stayed in a suite. Everything is really dated, but it was clean and serviceable. I am giving one star for two reasons: 1. When we checked in at the front desk, we were told there is an unadvertised additional $15 service/resort fee that we were charged on top of the rate that we'd already paid. This appears nowhere on the website. A bait and switch like this is against the law (or should be). 2. The hotel requires that guests strip their own linens (sheets/pillowcases/blankets) and towels, and take out their garbage at the conclusion of the stay. We were told about this directly after the extra fee, which I had to at least smile at. I've never had to do this at any AirBNB I've stayed at, much less a reputable hotel. Yes, it's extra labor for the hotel to do that themselves, but pushing this onto guests is a horrible experience. Why am I paying $600 + tax for two nights in a hotel when I'm getting nickel-and-dimed while being treated like an employee?…
The front desk could not give directions from 2miles away...there is no signage on the main road, and we drove by it twice because they didn't say it was across the road from Patrick's Pub, a well lit restaurant...Then the TV didn't work and they refused to change the room when the hotel has about 20% capicity. The room is dated, and right near an airport,if you like the sound of planes...to top it off, they had the nerve to add a $10 fee, after the room had been paid for,and couldn't explain what it was for. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! George Barrett
This hotel is our favorite place to stay when attending a concert. It's in the perfect location, it's super clean, and we love the amenities. We love the beach access too, when the weather cooperates!
I have to agree that staff was friendly, but establishment was old, dated, and the mold smell was overwhelming. The bathroom was an adventure with an angled toilet that rocked to and fro into the wall while in use. The residue on the floor was hazardously slippery - just hope it was soap!
We 'walked in' without reservations during Laconia Motorcycle Rally Week, looking to stay either one, two or three nights. Staff worked OT with us juggling options and rates with what they had available during this peek week. We stayed two nights. The room was SUPER clean and friendly staff, from the front desk, housekeeping, breakfast area, and owner / manager Frank and Facilities manager, Ray ! Great location . . . Highly recommend this Fireside Inn !
The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel had an indoor pool and spa. A continental breakfast was provided with individually wrapped pastries and pancakes, along with yoghurt, cereal and oatmeal. The hotel was within walking distance to the lake and there was at least one restaurant across the street. The downsides are the fact that the hotel seems dated. The hall carpets were a bit worn. Also, the hotel was in a large parking lot area off the main road - so not any great views.
This was our second visit to the Fireside Inn and Suites. We enjoyed this resort very much. All the people that work here are extremely friendly, ready to do whatever is necessary to help make your stay that much better. In past times they have a full breakfast room to enjoy a wonderful breakfast every morning, but because of Covid, they just had a sort of grab-and-go breakfast set up, but it was fine, with an assortment of muffins pastries, coffee, yogurts, and other things. Everything was wrapped for safety. We had a one-bedroom unit. It was very spacious, well decorated and everything eas up to par. Huge TV in the living room with an abundance of channels, modern full kitchen, and very comfortable bed. The l; location, for us, was great and there are several stores nearby. We would definitely recommend this resort to anyone.…
