The historic Hancock Inn is a gem of Hancock, NH, itself a quiet village lined with 18th c. homes. I love staying here - no matter what room, on what floor. Whether public rooms or private bedrooms, each cozy space feels like the 18th century without the fleas, outhouse, or grime. Traditional decor is cheerful and bright, and the restaurant...

Thank you for your very nice review! We are always grateful that the character of the inn continues to shine through the modern amenities that succeeding generations of innkeepers have added to its hospitality - wifi, cable television, central air conditioning, etc. The town of Hancock is such a unique place, and the inn is such a unique place, that...

The hotel was wonderful. We loved the attention to detail in the historic decor, food, and the way in which we were looked after including helping us to organise our activities. The owners helped ensure our stay was memorable. We would totally recommend the Hancock Inn.

Thank you for the very nice review. Staying in a place is one thing; experiencing the place is another. We are always happy to point people in direction of activities that will reward them with new experiences. We hope you will come back soo. Very best, Jarvis.

We stopped here quite by accident on our way back to the condo we were staying in. The history was what drew us in not knowing it was the oldest inn in New Hampshire. We stopped by for just a glass of wine so we could see the restaurant. The bar area only has 5 seats but someone was just...

Isn't blueberry season great?! We work with nearly 30 local growers, farmers and artisan producers to bring the very best flavors to the table here at The Hancock Inn. While it is a pricier route, we agree, it's worth the splurge and so worth supporting local farms and businesses. Thank you for stopping by and we hope you fall in...

due to a large party in the main dining room, we were given seats in a back room which was not very appealing and was near the kitchen. what we saw of main dining room was not particularily attractive. nice little town.

Thank you for your comments. If you were here last night there was, indeed, a Rehearsal Dinner going on in our dining room, which meant serving our other restaurant guests in the private dining room, the tavern and out on the terrace. The private dining room is quite removed from the kitchen, so we assume you must have been in...

Great location, food, accomodation and hosts. Hopefully we will get to return. The local produce is very welcome at breakfast and dinner. Good location for exploring New Hampshire and the hosts very helpful in suggesting where to explore.

Thank you for the nice review! Yes, hopefully you get to return! There is more to explore, including some of the farms and places where we get all that produce. They love visitors. Thank you, Leigh. Jarvis.

The Hancock Inn is an absolute gem. Beautiful furnishings throughout that aren't gaudy, as some B&Bs can be. I stayed in the Stahl room and it may seem small compared to most people, but living in NYC, it was huge! The bed is fantastic - i like a firmer mattress, and the mattress was firm but not stiff like a...

Thank you for such a nice review! We're glad you enjoyed your stay, breakfast and all, and found your way next door to Main Street Cheese - the makers of the BEST goat cheese ever - really. We hope yo'll think about coming back soon. Jarvis.

My friend and I had the nicest evening at the Hancock Inn. Marcia and Jarvis are most welcoming. They are gracious and display the grace of an older time. We had a wonderful meal and the turnip (maybe they called it a rutabaga) side dish was out of this world. I can't wait to visit for their Sunday supper! Thank...

Thank you, Rebecca!!! Yes, come back for Sunday supper sometime. For those that don't know, on Sunday's we serve a prix fixe, three course menu that changes every week. No decisions about what to order because there is only the one, three course affair. $17.89 per person, excluding beverage, tax and alcohol. Because supplies are limited, reservations are highly recommended....

Thank you so much! If he hasn't noticed already we will look forward to sharing your comments with Mark. Thank you very much for the nice review. We are glad you enjoyed the inn and the surrounding countryside. It is, indeed, picturesque and charming. It is also uncrowded, which, this time of year, is one of the pleasures of a Monadnock Region visit, we believe. The region lacks the "vacation sprawl," as people around here describe the experience of...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hancock Inn is a historic property in Hancock, New Hampshire. Built in 1789, it is New Hampshire's oldest continuously operating inn. The inn has 14 rooms for overnight accommodations that are exceptionally well-appointed with period antiques and inclusive of modern amenities, such as in-room chargers, waffle-weave spa robes, flat screen televisions with built-in DVD and wifi throughout the building. Many rooms have gas or electric fireplaces. There are numerous common areas around the inn for the enjoyment of our guests, upstairs and down. The two sitting rooms on the first floor, one with with a Rumford fireplace, are hallmarks of the inn's warmth and hospitality, separating it from the usual of being away, making it feel closer to home. Outside, the inn's 1.5 acres of gardens and field (which includes a professionally maintained croquet pitch in the summer) connect visitors to the Monandock region's preserved landscape and scenery. In the winter, join countless avid snowshoers and cross country skiers and, other times, experience the lakes, rivers and trails that crisscross our corner of the world. The inn's fine dining restaurant, The Fox Tavern, is open seven nights a week. The farm-to-table menu features New England favorites relying on locally raised beef, pork and poultry, plus cheese, fruits and vegetables from area growers, including vegetables from our own gardens. The Tavern's reknowned, cooked-to-order breakfast is served complimentary to house guests. Come to the Hancock Inn and learn why it has been characterized as "the near perfect expression of the New England village inn." ... more   less
