We needed a room for one night near lake Winnipesaukee and happily found the Yankee Trail Motel. We arrived in the middle of a bad winter storm, to find Kevin clearing snow in anticipation of our arrival (the online reservation system was easy and worked perfectly). He showed us to our room, told us a little about the motel (and their decision to buy and renovate the place a few years ago), and invited us to a hot breakfast the next morning. The room was tastefully decorated, with lots of attention to detail—refrigerator, microwave, and Keurig (with plenty of coffee). And, despite allowing pets (which we needed, since we had our dog with us), the room was immaculate. Breakfast the next morning was delicious.
We stayed at Yankee Trail because we attended a wedding in the area. What a surprise! It has been totally renovated and although it is still styled like an old "strip motel", it is all redone and beautiful. The room was done in gray/white/black and is very tastefully done. The bathroom had a lovely stall shower. The bed was very comfortable (had a great mattress topper). Charlene and Kevin are excellent hosts - they run this more like a B and B. Charlene cooks breakfast to order and it was delicious.
The motel was the perfect getaway spot for a weekend in the outdoors! A comfortable, clean, homey place to come back to after a busy day on the trails! The employee who welcomed us could not have can kinder and even built us a fire to enjoy in the outdoor patio area! Will be back!
we liked the room nicely decorated, clean and location! owners were so nice and outgoing hard working couple making nice improvements on an older property. The pool was nice, the squam lake very close we rented a kayak on lake few hours, 2 deli markets stores nearby which were both nice for breakfast or lunch. I would stay here again the owners care about their guests, easy drive to town of Meredith.
Don't let the old-school exterior of this motel fool you. Inside are refurbished and refreshed rooms that are comfortable and inviting. Also not an amenity is missing. There is a microwave, fridge, Keurig, Dixie cups for water, hairdryer, shampoo/conditioner, soft towels, comfortable beds, plenty of storage space and hangers, a desk and some chairs. Outside there is a firepit and grill for guests to use and an in-ground pool. The owners are very kind and helpful. The room was super clean when we arrived and the housekeeper had left us a kind note saying the room had also been given an enhanced cleaning. Even the TV remote looked cleaned, which was a relief. You are close to many attractions without the hefty price tag. Plus, they are dog friendly!! Enjoy!
The owners are very nice and accommodating, as a plus they still provide free wood for the outdoor firepit. Overall the room was nice, recently painted and very clean. Two small downsides to motel: 1: The AC had a tough time keeping the room cool (outdoor temp was in the low 90's and humid). 2: Close to the road, you can her the cars/trucks go by (the traffic decreases at night). We will stay there again.
We were snooping around Holderness in search of the old White Oak Motel, which is sadly no longer, when we discovered this gem right across the street! It was already late, so we gladly accepted the king room offered to us, and from that moment, we had a truly lovely stay. From getting to know one of the new owners, Charlene (an absolute delight), to eating breakfast at her little adjacent restaurant in the morning before checking out (delicious!), we were enchanted. Everything about this motel and our room was perfect. Price was reasonable, furnishings were new and lovely, right down to the comfy bed and crisp cotton sheets, and it is very close to Squam and Little Squam Lakes. Good-sized fridge in the spacious room, which was spotlessly clean. We adore these small, lovingly renovated motels brought right out of the '50s and '60s, and so appreciate those who rescue them. Charlene and husband, we dearly hope to visit you again, and enjoy another chat! You are an inspiration!!…
Last min trip to NH and booked this motel due to other reviews, we were not disappointed. Our room was very nice, recently remodeled and very clean. The Motel has a fire pit (with free fire wood), the owners were very kind and started the fire for us. Only downside was the noise from the road, not bad at night as there is limited traffic, however it was a bit noisy in the morning. Overall a great place - we would stay there again. We wish the new owners nothing but the best, as they are working hard to provide guests with the best experience possible.
Stayed here with my family and we had such an amazing time. It’s under new ownership and has recently been remodeled. The rooms are very clean & the staff is great. It’s such a beautiful place and a family friendly environment. The restaurant has also been updated and the food was delicious. The pool is refreshing and they also have a fire pit. The owners are always available for anything you may need. Absolutely loved our stay and already booked it again for next month. -Jenn E.
The rooms and restaurant are completely remodeled and look great. The bed was very comfortable with a foam topper. The owners and staff treat you like family and the food in the breakfast restaurnt was outstanding. They have fires almost every night and the pool is all set to go. Can't say enough good things and we will be back this summer 2020
