We stayed here for 6 nights as a large family(3 rooms total) All 3 rooms were very clean the only complaints were 1 door was very hard to shut. Luckily we were constantly in and out of each others rooms that keeping it open wasnt a big deal but when she shut the door it shook the hallway. There were water stains on the ceiling in the bathroom near vents and near air conditioner. Also all 3 of our shower curtains tried to suffocate us as we took a shower, they were wrapped around you or stuck to you which was unfortunate. OKAY onto the great parts of this place because there were many! This is a wonderful family resort. There were lots of children around for our kids to play with, every day the staff had activites planned for the kids(movie night on the beach with free popcorn and snowcones. games. free snacks. smores and a fire on the beach etc) The beach bar was nice but over priced. We only had 1 issue with a bartender making awful drinks and lacking customer service. The other bartenders we explained our issues to helped us out. The water is nice and shallow for awhile with a floating dock for kids to jump off of. The beach area wasn't as big as we had expected but it was nice. There are ducks everywhere at this place that are some what aggressive due to people constantly feeding them. We did have a issue with another guest at the resort near our room and the front desk was very helpful and on top of fixing the issue. Every time we called for more towels they were at our room within 10 minutes. Customer service is great here!!…
This was a multigenerational trip with grandkids. We were pleased with the helpfulness of the staff during the booking process and follow up calls. Every staff member we encountered was professional , helpful and friendly, we had rooms in the lake building which was a perfect location for the beach and restaurant access. The convenience was wonderful…. That being said, they are renovating the rooms in that area and ours needed some for sure! Clean upon arrival although I would suggest they replace the blanket and light fixtures. The air conditioning kind of struggled in the heat wave but not enough to lodge a complaint. The renovated wing has replaced the carpeting in the hallways with flooring and that is a great idea. Loved having the fridge and coffeemaker. The rooms were quiet and housekeeping came to service the room when requested on the app. Loved the beach bar service and restaurant. Kids enjoyed the raft and being able to rent paddleboards at a very reasonable rate. We used the connecting tunnel to access the indoor pool and front desk. It was clean and very enjoyable. There were some additional activities for the kids, a craft, a hula hoop challenge and s’mores on the beach and a movie. We all enjoyed our stay and the convenient location to everything. Would recommend…oh and as a wedding professional I loved the look of their wedding tents.. great spot.…
I recently stayed here with my mom, aunt, and cousin for a few nights as a short girls getaway. I must say this was one of the cleanest resorts I've ever seen. From the beach, to the rooms, to the restrooms everything was kept immaculate. I would highly recommend this for a fun family vacation if you do have children, it was very family friendly. The food at the beach bar was great we really enjoyed that they came around to the beach to let you order, it was very convenient. We will definitely be making this out go to resort on Lake Winnipesaukee.
We stayed here for a weekend for a friends wedding. I have never been up here ( my husband has but it was at a friends house when he was a kid). We would have never came up here if it weren’t for our friends wedding ( our vacation spot has always been Florida). But I have to say I am so glad our friends wedding brought us here because we had a great time and plan on coming back here as our new mini get away place ( we only live a two hour drive). The location is great. The beach was great. We loved our room. It was clean and the bed was super comfortable. The mini fridge was so good to have. The food and drinks at the beach bar was great and the wedding was perfect. We loved the indoor pool and hot tub and the outside patio. The staff was amazing and so nice and accommodating. We didn’t get to do any water sports since my husband is recovering from surgery. But we cannot wait to come back up here. The amenities in the area, you can’t beat it and there is so much to do in the area.…
We let the front desk know that there was mold in the shower. The woman at the front was nice and tried to get maintenance, but they weren’t available. The woman in the front offered to wipe it off with a magic eraser. I don’t think she realized the type and extent of the mold. There was no offer to change rooms and give us any accommodation. See photo.
We had a brief stay over this past Summer in the Inn. We chose the Margate because we never stay in that area and we had nostalgic family connections to it. The lobby was welcoming and adorable at first impressions. Has a nice modern lake-life theme. We spent quite a bit of time in the indoor pool because the lake did not have enough beach chairs/ seating. We did get to play on the lawn. The beach itself was just swamped with a crowd but it was July! The outdoor pool at the inn was quiet and private but it was beyond cold haha! My kids found it refreshing but as an adult it was too much. Our room had two sections so we had 4 full/queen beds. The TV in the main room was very small for the wall but it did the trick. I think the room could have been cleaner but the little things that existed were not enough to complain. Our door did not lock properly but someone came to fix it quickly. The restaurant appeared closed while we were there but we never really checked on it again. We were so close to plenty of food options. We would go back with the family.…
The condition of the rooms and hotel itself is disgusting. We've never stayed at a hotel that is falling apart like this. Furniture is extremely worn down. Our toilet seat didn't even have enamel left on it. This room was advertised on the website as 'newly renovated.' Our room was dusty and unclean with other people's hair all over. The building is old and creaky and we could hear very loud plumbing noises all night. Kelsey, the manager, told my wife that the room conditions and noise weren't acceptable when shown photos and that we would receive some compensation when she spoke to her in person but as soon as we were gone, Kelsey said via email that we would receive no rate adjustment. We paid $430 for two nights and I would say this room is not worth even $90 a night. We were hoping to work with management to find a solution and make them aware of the room's issues so that other people didn't deal with the same problems, but they weren't not interested in that. Just lying to your face to get rid of you.…
We traveled up to Lake Winnipesauke (first time) and tried out the Margate. The hotel resort was everything I expected. After diligent research and reading tons of reviews, I was prepared. The resort is perfect for kids. Indoor/outdoor pools, nice updated lobby, friendly staff (that worked very hard) and great accommodations. Breakfast was "grab n' go"--but it wasn't much to choose from. I don't blame Margate for that, I blame COVID. The only drawback was 1.) not enough lawn chairs for guests outside and 2.) not much to choose from kayaks. I believe there were only 3 kayaks and they looked beat up. Other than that, staff was out every day cleaning the premises and helping guests. We picked room #403. It was quiet with lakeview.
We spent one night away from the kids in the Margate. Generally we had a good time. The beach front is beautiful with the lake to swim in (not too cold), and the bar had seating on the dock so we ate in the evening looking out to the lake - glorious. We also tested the indoor pool, hot tub and sauna. There are also canoes etc that can be rented, but we didn't do that. The dining room was closed due to Covid, so we had dinner in the beach bar. The food was good and the service from the bar staff was excellent. I enjoyed some chipotle wings, which were delicious, and fish tacos, which were decent. The selection of beers is very good indeed - I enjoyed two local IPAs and my wife had a frozen strawberry cocktail. Breakfast was served in grab-and-go bags which were ordered in advance. The contents of these (cereal OR yoghurt, Muffin or pastry, a piece of fruit, juice or milk, coffee) was ok but not spectacular. I'm sure it wouldn't have been too difficult to have a bacon roll on offer or something. The breakfast is also not friendly for people who are gluten free, and there was no protein offered apart from the yoghurt. Overall, although we enjoyed our stay I think this hotel should be a little more luxurious for the price (which after tax was around $300 for a lake view room). For example, the room had a great view and sliding doors overlooking the lake, but the sliding door had been permanently sealed due to 'safety'. The room was nice, clean, comfortable, but not of a luxury standard and is a bit tired in decor. We were told from the website there would be coffee pod machines in each room, including decaf. When we arrived there were coffee bags and no decaf (and no tea, hot chocolate, herbal teas etc which I would expect in a luxury hotel). When I asked the front desk for decaf the response was 'we don't have that". They did manage to rustle some up after I pushed them on it. When we were about to check out, we found that a $102 restaurant bill had been added to our room tab on top of what we had spent. This was cleared up but its a silly mistake to make which leaves a bad taste. Check in is from 4pm (when we arrived at 3:45pm our room wasn't ready). Checkout is 11am. Again, I'd hope that check in could have been earlier (perhaps from 2pm) so those coming for one night could enjoy the beach and facilities a little more. Overall, we had a good time, and the staff were nice, and the lakefront is wonderful.…
Let me start off saying that we have been coming here every summer for the past 35 years. We always stay at the West Building and never had a problem. This year was different. They rented out several rooms next to ours which we think were all friends. These people stayed outside our room every night until 1 am. They were beyond loud - swearing, drinking, yelling. We called the front desk to complain (many times) and they said they would send someone over. I don't know if they ever did but it didn't stop them. Early mornings they let their children outside at around 6 or 7 am and they were equally as loud. Needless to say we opted to leave the hotel early and they were nice enough to not charge us for the remaining nights we didn't use. However, they need to do better. I know it's not their fault that people are rude but I do blame them for not doing something about it. IF we stay here again, it won't be in the West building. Totally ruined our vacation.…
