I was a little wary of this hotel based on several negative reviews. However, I was pleasantly surprised on our stay. It was clean, comfortable, and located in the middle of town for food and services. Also 15 minutes to Gunstock Mtn, which was the reason for our trip. To all the haters out there, get a life! This is not a luxury chain with concierge service. It's a reasonable hotel with complimentary breakfast and parking. This hotel was also HALF the price compared to the other chain right off of the bypass for the same amenities!! I'll look at this hotel first the next time I'm in the area.
My family and I had some issues with our reservation. The hotel manager went above and beyond to help us resolve the issue, well beyond our expectations. Their help enabled us be able to feel better about the situation. I can’t thank them enough for their kindness.
Young Indian woman at the front desk was very rude and unaccommodating, did not want to help, I asked for a late check out and was told they charge $10 per hour.. will definitely not be staying here again
We rented 3 rooms to stay the night before my daughters birthday party which I rented the breakfast and pool room for. Halfway through the party the staff came and started taking pictures of the room we were in. He then came and told me that I was not allowed to decorate the room or put things on the wall and that the were going to charge me double because I did. I said that nobody ever told me I was not allowed to decorate or that there were any restrictions so I was not aware but I assure you the room will be just as it was when we arrived, (actually better as it was still a little messy from breakfast). Then he came back and said I had too many people there and he was going to charge me another $160. I said I was never told there was a limit of people and that they can't come two hours into a party with all these rules and such that were never told prior and then throw charges at me for things I was never told. We took down all the decorations and did the cake and ended the party because he would not leave us alone. I asked to speak to the manager and she refused to talk to me. I gave the employee my number to have the manager call me, she refused to. Once we finished cleaning the room he came and looked at it and it was spotless, he said ok after I had to ask him to come look at the room when we were leaving, after ending the party early because he was ruining it and escalating the situation. When I was walking out he asked me for my credit card again. I told him I am not paying anything more until I speak with the manager and I left. By the time I got home, he had charged my card another $109 unauthorized.…
I booked our stay for the Laconia, NH Pumpkin festival then read the recent reviews and got a little nervous. I can say our stay was better than expected after reading previous guest’s experiences but definitely could use some improvements. I appreciate they honored my request for upper floor accommodations and the room was clean and mostly comfortable. The bathroom was small and there was sediment in the sink from an apparent clog (plumbing issues). As other reviews have stated, the lines through the cable tv were frustrating and the service could have been much better. Check in was super scripted and the front desk employee at checkout was on a personal call and basically shushed me and simply told me to just drop my keys in the box even though I had questions about our stay. The reason we chose this hotel was the proximity to the event and we were then charged for parking, even as guests of the hotel, pretty frustrating.…
We used the hotel for trips to White Mountains., and the beautiful area. Easy access to the hotel. The hotel are right in the city centre, not far from restaurants Nice big rooms and hot breakfast in the morning.
I would not recommend this hotel. Staff are not friendly. Very noisy in the parking lot and could see drug addicts outside yelling from our window. Breakfast was cold. Bathroom door would not close. Small bathroom. Air conditioning was not working and would come on for 5 mins and then turn off. Very dry in room and hard to sleep. Lady at front desk would not compensate us and told us to call the manager. Could not get a hold of him. Tv was awful too…horizontal lines through the tv…very difficult to watch! Overall poorly managed hotel. Paid $150 US…not worth it!
This is an old hotel that has not been renovated in decades. That Is not the worst of it. The hotel is dirty everywhere. You walk into the lobby and the furniture is dingy and there is an odd smell. The floors are dirty and unkept. Our room was on the 4th floor and the hallways are also dirty and smell bad. The room had an odd smoke/damp smell that wouldn’t go away with lavender spray and turning the ac on frigid to try and get rid of the musty smell. The bathroom was also dingy and the water in the sink wouldn’t drain. If there had been another option, we would have left. To add insult to injury, they get +250.00 a night for this atrocity during leaf peeping season. Stay as far away from this place as possible. Shame on the owners for such a shoddy stay.
Sink would not drain water and bits of sediment were bubbling up. Could also hear water backed up in other rooms. When I checked in, they charged my card $100 hold. I paid for my reservation in full at time of booking. After checkout, they charged my card an additional $143.31. No one was able to explain it to me, or correct it. Filing a police report. Same happened to my friend. The front desk person, Pavi was extremely rude. She continued to reference the $100 hold and deflect my request regarding the erroneous $143.31 charge. I still don’t have an answer. She then went on to state “oh my god” while on the phone with me and not answer my questions. I come up this way all the time for events. Never again will I stay there. Very sketchy.
Best (worst) Western, Laconia. Picked this hotel because their website said heated indoor pool, it wasn't. The signal on the TV had lines on every channel, and the remote worked intermittently. Would have given 2 stars, but need to bring it's 3 down to two. Also: Mattress and pillows were lumpy. Doors were hard to open or broken. Tp and kleenex were like sand paper. Gym was under construction. No safe in room. Breakfast was closer to Continental, with a waffle maker. Definitely not a full breakfast. There were scrambled eggs, but they were cold and watery by 8am. Got the room thru a 3rd party for half what their website had listed (Oct. 2022 pd $140+/night) On the plus side the room was clean, except for a spider on the shower wall. Would not go back.
