The living room had a leather couch (very supportive) and an easy chair (too soft). The flatscreen TV is above the gas fireplace, so fairly high on the wall, with a fairly limited selection of channels (about 20). There are sliding glass doors to a small patio with seats. Our room looked out toward Lake Sunapee, just 100 yards away.
The large bathroom had a tub/shower with one of those annoying water-saving spray nozzles, but had plenty of pressure and hot water. There was a nice long counter with a single sink and some amenities. You can turn on one light without turning on the fan.
The kitchenette is small, with no oven or toaster oven. It has a two burner cooktop, a microwave, and a dishwasher. There are plenty of dishes, glasses and utensils, but very limited cookware. I wouldn't want to have to cook here for a week, but for a weekend, or just breakfast and snacks, it is fine. There are two benches and a table in the main hallway, which serves as the dining room table. It is a narrow, curved table, to match one of the benches. Again, this is not a good setup for much more than breakfast or a snack.
There is an indoor pool and a warmer soaking pool. They have a free continental breakfast with a few pastries, drinks, fruit, etc. I was surprised since the rooms have kitchenettes. There is parking on two levels so most of the rooms can be reached without stairs. We didn't go to the restaurant. There are plenty of restaurants within a couple miles, and one right across the street.
The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. This is a great place, as cheap as hotels but with much more space and a kitchenette to keep down meal costs.
If only Mountain Edge Resort had a dock on the lake for guest use. (Hint, Hint, Suggestion, Wish List, Dream)
I am pleased to report our guests found the big bed in the den quite comfortable and a huge improvement over the original sofa bed that the den room was furnished with. It would be a nice improvement if a door could be added to the den room for some privacy, but I suspect a building or fire code prohibits it. For the first time in years we also had a guest sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room and am happy to report she told me the mattress was comfortable.
The resort owner Tom, and all staff I encountered were pleasant, smiling and accommodating with extra towels, and even an extra large pot from the restaurant kitchen for large meal I prepared, not to mention the complementary late check out!
If your considering staying here at Mountain Edge, go ahead and book it. I am confident you will be happy. I have been coming back since the resort first opened about 15 years ago and offered a timeshare opportunity in addition to traditional hotel stays.
The location of the Mountain Edge Resort is very close to both the public beach on Lake Sunapee and the ski resort, Mount Sunapee. The area is beautiful all four seasons of the year. Also, the staff at the resort are friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning to the Mountain Edge Resort again!
the suites were beautiful and comfortable furniture and lots of light coming in through the windows.
The beds were comfy and linens were very clean. The continental breakfast was the best ever with a very large assortment of foods and coffee ready at 7:30 ( although we would still rather have a pot in the unit).
The kitchen was basic with a nice full sized refrigerator and minimal cooking utensils/dishware. Stovetop and toaster/dishwasher.
It was a freezing weekend with minus degree temperatures outside but it was warm in the suite. Actually too warm and we could not put the fireplace on as it was tropical after a while. The two downstairs units had huge, clean showers/tub with lots of hot water but the upstairs loft shower had no hot water.
The pool was wonderful and very clean and well maintained. The warm smaller pool was the best ever after a long cold day on the slopes.
we were very disappointed that the restaurant/bar was not open and won't be in the future, as of now. It is a beautiful restaurant and such a waste to not be used. So unless you are cooking in, you have to go out to eat.
The Old Salt Pub is right across the street and we strongly recommend Appleseeds down the street about 10 minutes.
We would definitely return to stay next winter>
We left feeling that this resort is a hidden gem with great potential that is NOT being utilized. If you want the full package its not here unless the management gets it running up to speed, with opening the restaurant, bar, pub, sauna and return shuttles to and from the mountain.

Suite. The room was much larger than we anticipated. The lack of photos on the website don’t do it justice. We were very comfortable in the room even with the four of us. The alcove has a queen bed, closet, desk and two night stands. The pull out sofa worked well for my son. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare small meals and even a counter with four stools. The hotel is very convenient to the mountain. The room was perfectly clean when we arrived but some renovations could be done - especially since we paid over $400 a night. The drapes were bleached out, the wallpaper was peeling off the wall in the bathroom, and the water pressure was bad. Overall I would stay again.
On the day of the wedding a van was scheduled to pick us at at 3:15 pm. By 3:30 no van had arrived. There were several weddings going on in the area that day and other vans and limo’s were picking up various groups of people from Mountain Edge to go to weddings at other locations. The resort owner, Tom, was working hard to make sure all of the Mountain Edge guests got on the right vans and limo’s. Amidst all this, Tom noticed that my husband and I had been waiting a while. I had also texted my brother to try to find out where our van was. In a splendid gesture, Tom offered to take us the 4 miles to the venue in his personal car!!! Talk about Reaching Higher for your guests!! Just as we were getting into Tom’s vehicle my brother called and said they located the van and it was on its way to get us. Tom did not have to take us after all, but we will be forever impressed by his spontaneous generous gesture. Our next trip to NH will include a stay at the Mountain Edge and we will surely recommend it to others.
Now a bit about the hotel. Our mini- suite was spectacular. It had a fully equipped kitchen, a living area with a fireplace, a balcony looking out to the mountains, a master bedroom and bath, and a den with a queen size bed and desk. It was so well appointed and we were very comfortable there.
We did not get to try the spa services due to all the wedding activities and family visiting, but reading about what they have to offer I will definitely try it next time.
The location is perfect for getting around Sunapee, the harbor and the lake. There is a free museum with the history of the area which we really enjoyed. Plenty of cute shops and restaurants are around too. Steven Tyler of Aerosmith owns a home near the lake and is occasionally spotted in town.
All in all, I can strongly recommend the Mountain Edge Resort and Spa!
