Met some very interesting fellow travellers in this B&B. Room was excellent as was the breakfast but beware...only available 08.30am - 09.30am so if you want to make an early start you would miss it. Free parking.

We just had a 2-week vacation and stayed in 6 different B&B's, and Martin Hill was one of our favorites! The innkeepers, Meg and Russ, were very friendly and helpful. There was a very comprehensive information notebook in the room. Our room was very clean and attractively furnished. The family-style seating at breakfast was fun and we met interesting people...

My husband and I LOVED the Martin Hill Inn! It is situated in a pretty residential neighborhood so you don't exactly after the shops and restaurants right outside your door. However, you are within walking distance (maybe 11 minutes) to downtown Portsmouth yet you aren't paying the exorbitant prices of the hotels in the downtown area. The inn has free...

we arrived thursday afternoon and parked our car in the reserved spot and it seemed rather quiet. we took a ten minute easy walk to the village where we were pleasantly surprised to find shops and restaurants a plenty. museums are nestled among the shops. everything is within walking distance. we Enjoyed restaurants both on the water and inside taverns....

The Martin Hill Inn is a bed and breakfast about 3/4 of a mile from the main drag in downtown Portsmouth, so it is an easy walk which enables you to avoid the traffic/parking issues. The inn keepers are very accommodating as we needed to check in early since I had an event to go to on our arrival day...

This is a very attractive B&B with exceptionally well-appointed rooms that satisfy all the traveler's requirements. A large informative notebook in the room is an excellent guide to Portsmouth. The inn is located within easy walking distance to the fine shops and restaurants of downtown. There was an exceptional breakfast served in the morning by our ever helpful and charming...

We stayed in the Cathedral Room which was spacious with a large bathroom and decorated with the charming details you would expect in a New England B&B. The nice surprise was the addition of modern conveniences such as power strips to plug in electronics and a mini fridge. Breakfast is served between 830 and 930 am and was very good....

We stayed here mid week last week and had a wonderful time. It is just out of the downtown (10-15 minutes) and certainly worth the walk, especially on a beautiful summer evening after a terrific dinner at any of the amazing restaurants in Portsmouth. The breakfasts were delicious and very filling--no need for lunch after the lemon mousse and tart...

Oozing romance, attention to detail in the room and at breakfast, and a good location make this inn a perfect place to stay. We were in Portsmouth last year for a night and stayed outside of downtown, so when we returned this year for a few days, we wanted to stay close to downtown. This inn is a short walk...

My 17 years old son and I spent two wonderful nights at Martin Hill's Inn. I love the B&B concept, and have stayed in quite a few around Europe, Canada and the US. I have to say that Russ and Meg are doing an excellent job here. You can tell the minute you walk in, how passionate they are about...
