Stayed for 2 nights with the wife for a getaway. We stayed in the 1 bedroom queen condo. We booked this room because of the balcony but when we arrived the room had no balcony. We spoke with the front desk and things were corrected. Apparently they don't guarantee balconies but I don't understand why they wouldn't have put us there in the first place if it was available. Whatever, they took care of it but we had to wait for them to get it ready.
The room was spacious and clean however I was disappointed the couch had a huge tear behind one of the cushions. The queen bed was the smallest queen I've ever stayed in.
Water pressure in the shower was a light drizzle.
We booked for 2 nights and the wife wanted to take a nap during the day but couldn't as there were workers DIRECTLY outside working on the roof all day. Very annoying.
The room also lacked basic things like extra blankets which were provided after we requested them.
One of the biggest reasons we booked was the indoor heated pool. Unfortunately they had drained the pool earlier in the week for maintenance and although it was filled back up it hadn't HEATED back up yet and it felt like New England ocean water in April.
Location of the hotel is excellent. Staff was courteous.

Dear Mr. Simand, Thank you for taking the time to share feedback regarding your recent visit to our property. It is our goal that all guests, whether local or just visiting, enjoy the service and quality of our hotel. We are always working on ways to improve and we understand that your visit was not up to the standard that we pride ourselves in regarding the condition of our hotel. I would like to inform you that the Sheraton Harborside is under new ownership within the past few months and that we are planning a full renovation of 200 guestrooms and public space. We hope that you will consider staying with us on your future visits to this area and be able to experience this renovation enhancement with us! We understand your concerns, and hope that we will have the opportunity to better serve you again in the near future. Thank you for your time and continued patronage with Marriott.

We recently stayed at the Sheraton in Portsmouth, NH. The location was very good and so was reception. The room was stripped clean in many ways due to Covid and what was most odd was no maid service the 2 days we were there. No one was to enter our room except us. I understand the precautions but what struck me was the reduction in wages and hours for housekeeping staff and yet the same hotel fee! Luckily we got a discounted price so that evened off this issue but it concerned me that housekeeping staff were getting the raw end of the stick while the hotel could still charge the usual rate. Didn’t seem fair.

In addition to an always outstanding staff and team (and, truthfully, the customer service was exceptional this stay), the remodeled rooms at the Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel are a game changer. Hands down, these are the nicest rooms in Portsmouth (and we have stayed in several properties). Clean, quiet, spacious, and just beautifully redone. The location has always been great, and we were thrilled to see they brought back a valet parking option (which is completely worth the additional $5...plus, as with everyone else, the valet staff is outstanding). We can't wait to return again, and you've made the decision about where to stay a simple one!

Room Tip: Do the valet parking! Parking in Portsmouth is often challenging, and this is a great service.

I recently had a very negative experience at the Portsmouth Sheraton, and I wanted to make sure to share this, so others going in this time period are aware.

I will say the staff was friendly as usually, but the hotel itself was not up to par, in any way. We checked in on Friday afternoon, and were unaware that construction was going to be going on. There was no communication during booking or checking in. Upon getting to our floor you were immediately hit with a wall of dust. Dust everywhere, drywall chunks in the hallway, and a smell that reminded us each time we opened the door, that we were in a construction zone. When we entered the room, for our ‘Harbor’ view, I did chuckle a bit since the room was newly remodeled, yet both windows in the room had broken seals, so the Harbor might have been there, but you could not see out the window, due to the broken seals of the window. At that point I decided to have a drink, and went to fill the ice bucket, and wouldn’t you know that the ice machine on the 3rd floor was out of order, so I then had to go locate one on the 2nd floor. This was all in the first hour of our stay, and we almost considered moving to another hotel. We however, opted to stay and meet our friends for dinner.

The next day we then found out that the standard housekeeping services were by request only, as was shampoo. Honestly I don’t recall ever having a negative experience at a Sheraton property, but this one may have been one of the worst hotel stays I have ever had. Just so this does not come off as an exaggeration, I have included some pics of the experience. I just wish the Sheraton would have communicated the situation better, so I wouldn’t have been left with this extremely sour experience.

While everyone recommends a water view room, most rooms face either a parking lot or the railroad tracks. One important thing to know is that if you cannot get a water view and are facing the railroad track, you will hear the loud trains all night long.

As others have noted, it is a property under construction so you will need to confirm that you are not staying near the construction. The renovated rooms are fine but a few things to note. There is absolutely no artwork on the walls. Everything is just beige and white. It's fine but it did seem unfinished. They also did not replace the doors, just repainted, and it is already peeling as was the bathroom ceiling b/c there is no bathroom fan. And the toilet seat was already broken too.

The oddest thing was no washcloth. Plenty of other size towels but no washcloth. Asked three different housekeepers before one - and only one - was found. They said they were out.

All of these things are not really to be expected when you are paying almost $400/night. Self pay parking is across the street and is $30 or valet for $35. I guess they make their money off that extra $5 most people will pay for valet? Make it easier to self park. It's not even a covered garage, just an empty lot by the railroad.

Lastly, the service was poor. The front desk staff was not welcoming in anyway. Maybe like the guests, the staff aren't happy being there?! Has Sheraton not adopted Marriott standards?

Friends stayed nearby at the Hilton and highly recommend that instead.

Yes the hotel is being renovated and yes the last things to do is replace hallway carpeting. So even on our club room floor had the baseboard in the hallway removed. People… you aren’t sleeping in the hallway are you? The rooms are renovated and very nice. Bed is big and comfortable, and a huge TV. Everything was very clean and the staff was very helpful. Dined in the on-site restaurant for dinner and both haddock dishes were delicious and the wine pours were generous. Was there for a conference and the event staff was friendly as well and the food was good as well. The club room is right off the lobby and is a bright and airy place to grab snacks and breakfast.

This hotel is within walking distance to all the shops & restaurants in Portsmouth, as well as being right on the water. The hotel was very clean and they were following all the COVID restrictions very well. The front desk staff was SO helpful & SO friendly. The ladies in the morning serving coffee (and some pretty yummy muffins) were also very friendly and helpful. Our room was very spacious and I found the bathroom and shower to be really well done. We really enjoyed our long weekend there and we can't wait to come back!

Stayed here for 2 days while taking in the sites of Portsmouth which were all within in East walking distance.

Check in was easy as was parking. Our room was a suite on the top floor overlooking the harbor and bridges to Maine.

The receptionists were quite friendly as was the valet.

We had a large two floor apartment with a large living room, dining room, full kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, stove, full sized fridge, pots and pans, utensils) with a balcony. The upper floor had a master bedroom with a bathroom, a second bathroom with a second bedroom. There was a staircase leading up to that floor. There was AC individually controlled on each floor.

I was a little concerned because of some of the reviews about this being an “old looking hotel”. Not the case. I had a really nice stay. I stayed in the club level to avoid having a room where there might have been a dog in the past. Glad they restrict rooms so people with allergies don’t have to suffer.
The club lounge was real nice and had a great evening of snacks and early breakfast there. If my stay was longer I could have spent more time there. It was a nice setup. They fitness center had the latest equipment which made it a joy to go in the elliptical as they provided many options to view while on it not just blinking lights but TV, or trails etc. Room was nice and had no complaints. Overall can’t wait for my next stay.

We thought an overnight to Portsmouth NH would be nice after spending time in our townhouse in Campton. I called Sheraton reservations - twice - the day before we planned to go. Wanted to make sure they were open. Spoke with two different people (they were very nice) and the second time secured a reservation with a credit card. The confirmation was emailed to us. They indicated there were plenty of rooms. Drove over two hours and when we went to check in, we were asked the purpose of our visit. Because we were not essential workers, we were not allowed to stay. Now I understand hotels need to follow the governor's order, but surely a reservation system for such a major hotel should have noted that NO reservations were to be made! The clerk said they were trying to call people if they had our phone. It appears that there was virtually no one at the hotel. Well, I wasn't asked for a phone # AND they certainly had our email address. SO, after walking around beautiful Portsmouth, we turned around and drove back to Campton. Fortunately, the drive wasn't so long that we couldn't turn it into a day trip - but really, Sheraton, you should have done better!

It's a wonderful hotel with a view of the water yet situated within walking distance of everything. Fantastic restaurants, nightly entertainment from plays to concerts to local musicians. Tours of the Albacore(submarine), Prescott Park, lovely gardens, and historical Strawberry Bank. There are many things to do for the entire family and you will not be sorry. I see someone wrote there was no breakfast. There was the few times I've stayed there and their food is good. Nicer rooms/suites are on the top ? floor, though they are all clean and comfortable. You will love it!
