When we checked in, I was welcomed as a Hilton Honors member and offered a can of soda or a bottle of water, along with a bag of popcorn, chips, or cookies. We were informed there was a happy hour from 4:30-6:30 when guests could receive a free can of soda, bottle of water, $2 bottles of beer, and snacks. The employees behind the desk were very friendly and when we asked about restaurants and how to get around in the downtown area, they gave us helpful advice. Our room was very nice and comfortable. Finding the hotel was easy.

As a longtime HiltonHonors member who has traveled the US far and wide, I can say without reservation that the Hampton Inn at 99 Durgin Ln is one of the best Hampton Inns I have had the pleasure of staying at overnight. Recently, my significant other and I visited Portsmouth to attend a concert. I booked a room at the Durgin Ln hotel because it was easily accessible from the highway we were coming in on and the price was VERY reasonable. It was far enough off the road to be in quiet surroundings, yet there were several restaurants and shops nearby if needed. I’ve always found most Hampton Inns to be very clean and comfortable, but what made this one even more exceptional than most places was the wonderful service provide by the staff during our stay. From the desk clerk, James, to the lovely lady who serves complimentary wine and snacks in the lobby from 4:30 to 6:00 PM, to the hotel staff who greeted us with a smile whenever we passed by. The breakfast was fresh and well prepared with a variety of offerings. In summation, if you are traveling in the Portsmouth area, don’t miss the opportunity to stay at this hotel.

It is always such an honor to receive such positive feedback from someone who has been an Honors member for so long! Thank you so much for the time that you took to write such a thoughtful review for our location. We are not one of the newest Hilton properties around, but we definitely do our best to try to win our customers over with our customer service and some extra amenities that are not offered by the other hotels in our area!

Nice clean hotel. They follow several procedures to be sure the rooms are safe and disinfected after/before each guest. Due to Covid-19, shuttle and recreation areas, gym and swimming pool, were not available for guest. Disappointing but it is not there fault and we were glad they follow the guidelines for the current situation. Breakfast is also adapted to the current situation, grab and go options, not hot breakfast. Hotel is dog friendly for an extra fee. We brought our dog with us and we did not have any problem. However, just want to mention that one of the guests, against the rules, left the dog alone in the room for hours and the dog did not stop barking. Really sad for the dog, and inconsiderate and annoying for the rest of the rooms.. Hotel staff was very friendly. Located near several stores. Free parking at hotel. About 10 minutes away to downtown.

Thank you for your review! I am sorry to hear that there we another pet owner who did not follow our pet policy guidelines. I have reviewed our policy for this with our team members and have given them some additional ways that we are able to reach out to guests should this happen again in the future. I am happy to hear that you appreciated our additional cleaning procedures and that you felt safe at our location during these uncertain times!

We arrived late March. With the COVID-19 going around we were very pleased with our room. It was like a small apartment. Full size refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, a small dining table, living room, separate bedroom and our bath. We stayed a month. They didn't object to me cleaning my own room and were very anxious to help and support me with whatever I wanted or needed. The front desk people, like Debbie or Coleen were always cheerful faces as we passed in and out. The hotel was kept very clean and disinfected. Also they put out breakfast to grab and go every morning.
Thank you to my home away from home for making us feel safe and welcome!

Tucked in the trees between two shopping malls and close to I 95 yet nice and quiet in my room. The staff folks were professional and friendly and the breakfast (free) offered hot and cold choices and variety. I was handed bottled spring water on arrival and could keep it cold in the room’s refrigerator.

The front desk people are genuinely happy to see you. When you are a returning frequent visitor they know you by your first name and your preferences on what type of room you prefer to be in. The evening manager happy hour with finger food or other items to eat along with the beer & wine is a great way to wind down from a long days work or sight seeing of the area. The rooms are always clean and the bathrooms are spotless when you arrive at your room.
This facility is pretty much central to the downtown area and with free shuttle service from the hotel to wherever you want to go downtown, Strawberry Bank or immediate area to the downtown business district and pick up for the return ride to your hotel, well you can't get much better than this.

Thank you so much for writing such a thoughtful review about our location! We are beyond fortunate to have such a caring team and we have also tried really hard to add some special touches to set our hotel apart from the rest. We are not located directly downtown; however, as you mentioned we provide the shuttle and we also serve complimentary beer and appetizers M-F! How can you compete with that!? Once again, thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to leave us a review.

The hotel is not walking distance to downtown, but it is a very close drive. There may be a shuttle? Ample parking and they pretreated before bad weather. Nice. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts good and ample. The pool decent size and is open with no restrictions. Beggars can’t be choosers so I will not mention the size of the towels at the pool. Fitness center small. Signs everywhere saying wear your mask, but it is located in the Live Free or Die state so no one, including staff complies. Maskless people will be cleaning your room and maskless guests will be leaning over the breakfast food. Wish it was the Love Your Neighbor state and maybe people would wear masks, but I digress. Shoes are apparently optional in the lobby and where people eat. YUP. Beds very comfortable. Rooms clean. The lobby sitting area nice but small. There is a little area to buy sundries including wine and beer. Room had a decent size fridge, microwave and small coffee maker. Closet good size with full size iron and iron board. Lighting and decor very tasteful. Good shower with ample hot water and good water pressure. Rooms are average size. It’s a solid hotel the is clean and has what you need.

Thank you for staying with us and for your thorough review. The mask mandate has recently been removed in the city of Portsmouth. We have removed the signs stating masks are required and will still supply masks to guests who wish to wear one. Mask wearing is optional for our staff who are fully vaccinated and required for those who are not yet.

I’d love to give this hotel a better review but for over $300 a night, I can’t. The rooms are very outdated with the exception of the updated bathrooms. There was stains on the carpet all the way down the hall on the 4th floor and our room smelled somewhat musty. The bed was super comfortable and they provide you with plenty of towels, washcloths and facecloths but for a king size bed they use standard pillows. The room temperature was easy to control which is rarely the case in any hotel. The staff was extremely friendly which was nice. Please update the pool and hot tub area. Also the pool towels are the size of a face towel. Please spend some money in the area as it clearly needs some TLC. If it weren’t for our free stay with Hilton points, we would not have been happy if we paid well over $300 a night. Just not worth it. The breakfast was still not back it pre-Covid level so we went to the Friendly Toast in downtown Portsmouth, which I highly recommend!

Our company uses this particular hilton property for its prime location in relation to our companies needs.
The staff, management and overall condition of the property are consistently high quality. Over the past
two years this property has steadily improved its physical plant and service to customers.
Breakfast could be better but its always good.

The hotel was overall very clean and welcoming. However, the pool was closed and it was not stated on the website. We were in a suite and the dials on the stove popped off when we tried to use it. We talked to the front desk right away and the women that was working seemed to have no interest and didn’t even put in a maintenance order. Thankfully the person working the night shift put one in for us, but the stove never got fixed anyway.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us. While it appears you may have had an enjoyable experience overall, it is disappointing to read that we missed opportunities to exceed your expectations due to some mechanical failures. We are and have been working diligently to restore the pool to service. We are scheduled to receive the needed parts this week and once installed, the pool will be ready to re-open. Additionally, a new stove has been ordered to replace the one in the room you occupied that was not working properly.

Is the hotel walking distance to things to do?
Answer from Ashley Lionetta
We are about 2.5 miles outside the heart of downtown Portsmouth, however we do offer a complimentary shuttle service every day from 8am-10pm that runs every half hour within a 5 mile radius. We have one central pick up and drop off spot downtown and the area down there is very walkable, I recommend checking it out to everyone that stays here! There are several chain restaurants within the immediate proximity, but I do suggest driving or taking the shuttle to get to these locations as there is not any great walking paths until you get to the main road. Hope this helps!
