Absolutely amazing establishment. If I could give more stars I would. The building is finally appointed. Stunning. The hospitality A+. Our room was perfect. Every detail checked off. If you have an opportunity to travel in this area, stay here!
Perfect spot in Portsmouth. Employees were excellent! Beds were so comfy - continental breakfast was great. Very clean hotel ? Inn? Parking is free walkable to downtown. Very impressed. Hope to be back!
I stayed at The Hotel Portsmouth last night. It was a last minute trip. I chose them simply for proximity. I am so glad I did. What a delightful surprise. This is a wonderful boutique hotel. It has been lovingly restored keeping the original antique features while perfectly blending in modern amenities. The gentleman at the front desk when I checked in was was warm, welcoming and funny, as was the gentleman that handled my check out. The room was warm and comfortable with the softest bedding. And a light breakfast is offered with delicious overnight oats and berries, yogurt, pastries, etc. I will definitely be back for a longer stay this summer. They are in walking distance to beautiful downtown. Thank you for such a wonderful visit.
Very convenient for a stay in downtown Portsmouth. Affordable price, nice room and good Continental breakfast. We like that it was walkable around town, easy to park and an easy drive to our kids house. And they welcomed our dog, who was very well behaved!
We were extremely pleased with The Hotel Portsmouth! Such a beautiful historic space, conveniently located within walking distance of almost everything in the town of Portsmouth… The room was spacious with a comfortable and cozy bed, and the common sitting rooms were charming and a beautiful place to rest and read. Super convenient free parking and breakfast as well! The next time we come here we will probably go for an upstairs room because our downstairs room was a little too close to the common entrance hall and kitchen. Otherwise, an excellent experience and we will definitely come back!
We had a nice visit over the weekend. Great accommodations and they were helpful with refrigerator space and reheating some food. Our pup had a good time as well. The hotel is nice and cozy and everyone was friendly.
The hotel is quite lovely. Converted old residence from the late 1800s, it has 32 rooms yet still feels very intimate and makes you feel special. Their breakfast was absolutely fantastic. Not the usual boring offerings. Gaslit fireplaces added a nice charm to the common area rooms. I will definitely return to this hotel for another state.
The Hotel Portsmouth is a lovely establishment with helpful and friendly staff. The rooms are bit utilitarian/spare/basic, but it was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The lighting was also quite dim with older lamps. We were a little disappointed that they are not cleaning the rooms while one is staying there. I understand that people have different feelings on this, due to COVID, but for the price-point, I think it should be automatic and one could chose to opt out. They did however, have a clever system, where you could text for clean towels and for dirty ones and trash to be removed. The staff were very responsive to this. The hotel also offers a pretty common room with a fireplace and it was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The room was bit cold/drafty, but I guess this goes along with an old converted house. Our first day, they offered mulled cider, but they had run out of it the second day. It felt like a combination of a luxury hotel and crashing at someone's place. The location could not be better. You can walk to everything and there are many choices of places to eat, drink, and shop. The only reason I am giving 3 stars instead of 4, is because of the price compared to the lack of cleaning and basic feel to the room. When we checked out, they did give us a nice gift card for $30 to be used another time. The staff were very kind and friendly.…
This is our second visit to this lovely hotel. We do an annual Christmas overnight with some friends every year. We discovered The Hotel Portsmouth last year and loved it so much we decided to visit again this year and will again next year! From check in with very informative and friendly Justin, who is also a great host, starting a fire in the common room, giving us lots of information on the history of the hotel, places in the area, etc. Rooms are very clean, we had a Queen deluxe, love the sink and counter area outside of the bathroom shower area. Beds, bedding and pillows very nice! Robes, hairdryer, glasses, ice bucket even an umbrella in the closet if you need one! We love the common room with working fireplace, beautifully decorated for Christmas and nice Christmas music playing, we hung out there with drinks and snacks we brought and talked and laughed with our friends for hours. Great location to everything, free parking is a plus and if not raining could have walked to many spots. Breakfast was very nice with small plates. Breakfast room is adorable with nice touches, water, ice, fruit out all day, coffee, tea. We will be back!! Thank you Justin for being a great host!…
Once again we stayed at the Portsmouth Hotel on our trip to see a show at Jimmy’s Jazz Club. Some hotels make you feel like you just got home and this is one of them. Well situated in Portsmouth. Ample parking so park and walk the town. Attentive staff that flys under the radar. Well stocked room for breakfast with coffee and tea all day. Look forward to our next visit.
