We reserved a special room with balcony and water view. Over $300. Per night. Plus a nightly fee of $50 for our small, non shedding dog. The linens are very old and tired. The towels should be donated to an animal shelter… frayed and no longer soft but rough. The bathroom had just one bar to hang two towels. There was no counter or vanity. Just a freestanding washbasin. The toilet was very low and challenging. The sheets on the king size bed were so very loose that becoming twisted in the filled bottom was the norm. Even trying to tuck them in was useless. We had been told of the amazing fireplace in the lobby. When we asked if they would light it we were told it was too windy. That very night it was lit… and the flu was closed so the alarms went off throughout the inn and restaurant. Twice. Upon leaving this morning, I spoke to the desk personnel about these issues. I did not complain but stressed our disappointment. The response was “ we will be remodeling over the winter”. I then asked if there was some financial adjustment that could be made to our bill. The answer was “No”. No explanation. Just “No”. Sorry. I CANNOT recommend this inn. The location is great. But we were hugely disappointed. …
Spent my birthday weekend at Wolfeboro Inn. It was cold outside but warm and comfortable inside. Not only from the roaring fireplace in the cozy common area but also from the very attentive, accommodating and friendly staff. Gabrielle enthusiastically checked us in and greeted us each morning to make sure our stay was perfect. A gaze out any window offers stunning, peaceful scenery of gorgeous Wolfeboro and Lake Winnipesaukee. Wolfeboro Tavern is historically charming and Mike made us feel like we were visiting a friend when we sat at his bar. Tasty food and great spirits. You can't go wrong when booking a room at The Wolfeboro Inn.
The location of the hotel on the lake is pretty spectacular- we upgraded to a small suite to have a balcony with a view and the reception staff were very helpful However there were a few issues which we did not anticipate with a hotel like this First there is no housekeeping service any more- the ongoing excuse appears to be covid The facilities were poor- the Wolfboro Inn was only open for very limited hours and on the Sunday not open at all. The website promotes the Inn and the great food so this was unexpected . there were no tea or coffee facilities in the room. There were no facilities therefore for having a drink or a tea or coffee after 11am in the morning when the drinks were taken away from reception. On the Sunday evening when we returned to the hotel we were told by the receptionist who was most apologetic that she had no access to the kitchen to obtain any drinks and that the hotel had run out of bottled water so we could not get any sort of drink at all . Vey poor considering the cost of the hotel that no amenities such as tea coffee or even water were available It was quite chilly when we were there but despite the large reception area having a fireplace laid ready to light no fire was ever light which might have added a degree of warmth and comfort The rooms whilst comfortable were tired and need updating especially the bathrooms Generally had the feeling that the hotel was going downhill and that the comfort of guests was not highest on the list of priorities- this was not from the staff who tried their best but we never saw a manger or anyone "in charge"…
Read the reviews by others and do not choose this hotel. It needs to be entirely redone, including replacing the management and adjusting the prices to reflect stains throughout, both on ceilings and floors, filthy dirty windows, barely running water in the sink, not honoring requests for a certain room type, providing zero amenities (not even housekeeping) and yet charging a $20 high season resort fee. When I went to the desk at the end of our stay to provide feedback that the room needed some serious attention, I was met with a snotty attitude and a "sorry about that". The employee was not at all interested, wasn't inclined to even look at my photos. We looked forward to a beautiful Columbus Day weekend and attending a wedding. Not a single wedding guest who stayed at this hotel reported a good experience. Very sad, as this place could be a gem. Both the hotel and the employees reflect a lack of pride in this property. I've stayed at better roadside hotels, and this place describes itself as a luxurious accommodation. Not even close.…
We booked into the Wolfboro Inn for a combination get away/family wedding. This hotel needs a lot of TLC and updating and was very disappointing. To start, I ordered a fruit and cheese platter, which was not ready when we arrived and when it did arrive it was cheap crackers, tired grapes and a small weird selection of cheese. Our suite had an unpleasant odor, dusty dark drapes, stained and torn carpet, a damaged wall in the bathroom, mold on the shower curtain, worn out robes with rips, and a dresser drawer that didn't close. After a shower, the water wouldn't turn off and needed to be serviced. There was no vanity in the bathroom or hooks and the bed was uncomfortable. The couch and chair in the living room area were old and I didn't even want to sit on them. The continental breakfast was pitiful and when I asked for milk for my tea I was given slightly sour milk on the first say, and the second day when I asked for milk I was told that they were out of milk as it had expired. Kudos to the guy keeping the fire pit going on friday night. (Best part about the whole stay) But after Friday there was a wedding that occupied the fire pit area. Definitely would not recommend this place!!!…
DO NOT get married here. It is not worth your time or money until new ownership/management. My wife and I had an enormous amount of stress and anxiety leading up to the wedding day and while we can say the day itself went off without any issues, it was due to us hiring a wedding coordinator 3 weeks out to ensure our day was what we envisioned (even though the Inn bills itself as having an onsite wedding coordinator as part of their package). Here are the cliff notes – read on for the full review • All communication was one sided – we initiated all calls, meetings, and emails • Staff is very unresponsive, often going weeks without a response (if we ever received one) o Some questions were not even answered o Emails (if responded to) would only address one or two questions, not any of the others we had asked o Calls were not answered and voicemails never returned • Wedding Coordinator (our second as the first left) was condescending, rude, arrogant and we felt like we were always inconveniencing her • Information provided by us (in person, over the phone and through emails) was never captured, leading us to have the same conversations repeatedly • Rooms were not clean the two times we stayed ahead of our wedding, with reports from guests on some cleanliness issues (trash in rooms, mold on shower curtains, heat/AC not working) • Rentals we brought in got lost by the Inn and we now must pay for the replacements • Escalations to general management were ignored until we finally escalated to corporate (their holding company) • Our wedding start time, meals and numbers had to be corrected multiple times – with some numbers still not correct 2 weeks out Here is a recap of just one meeting with our second coordinator (in March 22’ – 4 months out) • She was 30 mins late • She was unprepared, and details already given to her were never documented • She put-down vendors we were working with • She contradicted everything we had already agreed with our first coordinator and when challenged, became very agitated and rude • She told us our wedding was not her priority • She blamed the prior coordinator for everything • She was quite rude and condescending 2 weeks prior to our wedding, we had to email corporate as our escalations were going unanswered. We heard back from the GM that she would be handling our wedding moving forward. To be fair, she did a great job making us feel more at ease. But, we shouldn’t have to be escalating concerns 2 weeks prior and then be getting on calls with our 3rd coordinator to explain all of our details as they never were documented. We had rented linens through a 3rd party and 1 linen was not returned. We asked the Inn about this and they were adamant they packed it. I requested they reimburse us for this, they claimed they weren’t at fault and the liability clause in the contract protected them from reimbursement of any ‘lost, damaged or stolen’ items personally brought onto the premises. This refusal, after everything we had to deal with, is what led me to write this. While I can appreciate contract protections and the Inn being right in claiming this, it’s the principal of business to acknowledge any errors or issues and work with the customer, especially given the bad experience you already put that customer through. In conclusion – it’s just not worth your time dealing with everything we had to. If done again, we would opt to choose another venue with similar charm.…
This is a very worn out inn. Needs lots of repairs from painting to the little things like: huge stain in carpet, hook on bathroom door broken off, refrigerator caked in ice, shower head coming out of the wall. Weatherstripping peeling off the slider. The tavern served flat beer (they knew it was flat when I ordered; told me so!) the burger (18$) came with oven warmed frozen onion rings. The menu was sparse and the staff could not keep up with the patrons yet only 25% of the seats were filled. The plastic shower tub had a hole 1 inch above the bottom which was patched with caulking. All this for $350 or more? The day before we stayed in Laconia for the same price. Had a beautiful room with antiques, whirlpool and glass shower. Superb dining attached to the inn. Facing the water with a fine balcony and a very clean facility. I would not recommend the Wolfeboro Inn to anyone. Motel 6 could give an equivalent experience. We are stuck. No cancellations without 7 days notice.…
Located very convenient to the primary tourist area and the website photos lured my husband The condition pre-Covid appears to have been nice. It could be a lovely stay, but they desperately need staffing for cleaning. While the furnishings are dated, the disrepair is obvious. There’s a trip and fall issue at the main entry with missing tiles. Damaged tiles in restroom within our suite and frankly it was not particularly clean. I couldn’t recommend. Don’t try the Tavern either. Same issues. This hotel is a bait and switch. Looks great on the website using photos that don’t represent the current conditions. Reminds me of the realtors that use a photo of themselves which is at least a decade old.
We have been staying and eating here for 20+ years and what a disappointment to see the hotel in this condition! The exterior is looking worn, but the inside was a shocker… no AC in the reception area, smelled throughout the hotel. We started in room 223- beds were dirty with stains and debris in them. Toilet had urine all over the seat.. Used towel on the floor. The room as the rest of the building smelled. Asked for the receptionist to go check it out….never did. We were promptly moved to the bridal suite-best in the house. Same situation… the bed had dead bugs, blood and just gross. Two for two… they are not changing sheets between visits! Upon checking out I showed pics of the rooms and the gentleman replied with “That is not what we represent, however there has been issues with housekeeping!” Asked for a manager to call me, day 3 and no call. They evidently do not care! Don’t get me going about the restaurant… use to be one of the best in town…out of 8 of us, 2 completed their meal. Food was not noteworthy and service was non existent. It is apparent the establishment needs new management all around, and get out of the covid rut! You’re forced to give a star, one is too many!…
Room condition was extremely poor. Lobby A/C was down at check in in July. Hotel entrance/lobby and hallways in need of a renovation. Not sure what the “resort fee” is for- continental breakfast wiped out and not replenished, batteries in remote didn’t work, no one at front desk at check out (smoking outside). Just poor all around for $300 plus a night.
