This is a lovely little B&B in the cutest little New England lake town.

Our room was immaculate, the bed was comfortable, and the nautical themed decor fit the area perfectly.

The owners are friendly and accommodating.

We stayed only one night, but would not hesitate to stay longer in the future, if our travels bring us back to NH.

Topsides B & B was a great experience. Oversized room, bed was firm, new and comfy, bathroom was spacious and the extras where over the top. From the towels, to the bath rug, to the sheets, just perfect. I would recomend this B & B to any one who wants a carefully thought out room for a peaceful vacation or business trip.

My stay at Topsides was wonderful. A genuine and warm greeting from host Cindy. Comfortable and nicely appointed rooms with tasty daily continental breakfast. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back. Met a lovely assortment of guests from various parts of the US and the communal breakfast table is a great place to exchange travel tips and meet new friends and fellow travelers!

We booked Topsides for 2 nights, as we came to Wolfeboro for a wedding. We stayed in a first floor bedroom towards the back of the house. The room was okay, but no place to put our clothes, so we kept them in our suitcases. The bathroom was okay, but the toilet was dirty and towels were never taken and replaced. The main house was closed off by "private" signs on the doors, so we only had our room and the back open porch, which was nice. There was no lock on our bedroom door, which we thought odd. They also kept the front door open all day until 8 pm and the back door remained open until midnight. Without having a lock on our door, anyone could have come into our room. The breakfast was a joke, and the worst breakfast we ever had at a B & B. We had the same thing both days we were there...cold cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, and store-bought donuts and pastries. We can get that at home. No hot food and absolutely nothing homemade were served. The male host of the house was finally seen our second day there, and he walked through the dining room and never said a word, not even introducing himself. The female hostess must not be consistent in her cleaning, or what she serves for breakfast, because what the other guests who gave Topsides an excellent rating must have experienced things entirely different than what we experienced. We have paid the same amount at other bed and breakfasts, and had much nicer rooms, friendlier hosts, and delicious breakfasts. We will NEVER go back there again!

Firstly we arrived at 3.15pm having previously booked and there was no one to meet us, We entered by the unlocked back door where we had parked and called out to summon someone and when nobody arrived we went to the front door and rang the bell a couple of times and still nobody came so we knocked on an internal door marked 'private' but still no answer. Eventually we gave up and went down to the town for a look around before returning a while later. This time the owner was there and quickly told us where to find the tea and coffee etc (in the hall) before showing us to our room 'Martha's vineyard'. The room looked lovely decorated in blue and white but on closer inspection the bath was decidedly dirty with tide marks from several baths by the look of it along with hairs. The bathroom floor had the last occupants many long hairs over the floor along with accumulated grime next to the toilet roll basket and round the edges of the room. The bedroom floor was also full of dust bunnies so obviously hadn't been hoovered for a time.We visited in October and it was chilly but the room had no heating on. My husband asked if we could have some heating as I was very cold and was told that the heating would be turned up but it never came on at all and I spent the evening feeling very cold and uncomfortable. Breakfast was a disappointment...There was a small assortment to help yourselves to.......Bacon, waffles with fake maple syrup, yoghurt. melon and banana. There was no bread, rolls or toast. As I don't eat bacon or waffles, after having a banana and a thin melon slice I was soon hungry again. You had to go out to the hall to get your own tea/coffee. When asked if I'd slept alright I replied 'Yes but that I had been cold during the evening' I got the uncaring answer "Yes, the thermostat shuts off when downstairs reaches the set temperature, and anyway I think it's better for you not to have heating".We were staying another night and were not offered a heater to make us more comfortable. The house on the outside appeared very pretty and nice but there was a strange vibe about the whole place and I didn't enjoy staying there although I cannot explain why (apart from the grubby bath and floors). There are no keys to the room doors. On the plus side it is fair to say that the bed was very comfy and the linen soft and fresh smelling, including the towels. And there is a very nice veranda area in which to sit on warmer days. I would choose somewhere else if visiting Wolfeboro again.

Hunt room very dirty and rug probably not vacuumed in weeks
Furnishings very dusty. Bathroom extremely dirty. Breakfast not what you you expect. Muffins and donuts and cereal boxes that are stale. Stay elsewhere. Owners Are nice but I do not think they Have the money for upkeep. Not worth what they charge. This place has been going downhill for the last 2 years
But dirt is something we cannot tolerate. We have been going to this bed and breakfast for 2 years but No more! Going down hill fast. Owners are not paying attention to the dirt around them. We will never return. Towels are damp and dust is everywhere. Terrible!!!!!

After seeing the website I was really looking forward to a top class B & B. We were very disappointed.
Cindy was out when we arrived and her husband showed us to our room explaining she would sort us out on her return. That was the last time he spoke to us.
The bedroom, Martha's Vineyard was spacious and bed coverings were quite pretty in blue and white. Dust under the bed which we discovered when we dropped something. Bathroom not clean at all, bath old looking and grimy, behind the taps in the sink were dirty and hadn't been cleaned for a while, around the edges of the floor were dirty. No glass for drinking water, shampoo but no conditioner. We stayed for 2 nights in June and was quite shocked when we returned after the first day to find the room hadn't been touched, no bed made, towels and the bathroom untouched. We have never stayed in a B & B, motel or hotel where the room hasn't been made up, this is the service guests are paying for.
Breakfast the first morning was cereals, some sort of cheese flan, fruit and shop bought muffins, tea or coffee. The next morning there was a choice of cereals, waffles, 2 muffins (I think left from the day before) some fruit.
Tea was available in the hall along with an electric kettle (someone had written a note to ask for coffee but I never saw any), it was so cluttered with so many varities of tea.
The bedroom was on the front and was noisy particularly as we were there during Laconia bike week with motorbikes passing until the early hours of the morning. I only mention this as we had spent the 2 previous nights in Meredith at a B & B and the contrast in every way could not have been more different. The owners of that B & B emailed me when I booked the room explaining about the traffic and the motorbikes just so that we were aware and could make a decision to stay. However, they were in a quiet location and noise was not a problem at all. The gourmet breakfasts were delicious, fridge stocked with beer and wine, homemade cookies and the owners could not do enough for the guests plus it was $40 per night cheaper than Topsides.
Cindy was pleasant enough but we felt that her husband rather resented sharing the house with paying guests and the $400 we paid for 2 nights was way overpriced.
We would certainly look for alternative accommodation if we ever visited Wolfeboro again.

We stayed at Topsides because of the stellar reviews in the Fodors guide and on this website. However we arrived to find our pretty room poorly kempt and quite dusty -- there were other guests' hair in the bathroom and dustbunnies in the corners. Nobody tidied our room or bathroom during our 2 day stay. Maybe it was a fluke, but we did not find this B&B to be deserving of its praise.

This B&B looks the part, a charming Victorian house in a charming New Hampshire town, walking distance to the shops and restaurants...BUT find another place to stay.
The house is cluttered to overflowing with chattels the rather diffident owner has collected and they are all covered with dust and grime. We have never stayed anywhere so grubby.
We perched in our bedroom, defeated by the lack of space to put anything and by the overall feeling that nothing had been cleaned for a very long time. Especially the bathroom.
Despite the assurances of the owner, South Main Street was like a motorway from 5am.
The breakfast dimension of this B&B was laughable. There were four guests staying and there were 4 thin slices of melon and 2 or 3 Danish pastries (which we were assured came from the supermarket opposite) cut into pieces. One guest asked whether there was cooked breakfast available and when she was told no, asked for some toast. This was duly delivered, but in the most offhanded manner. None was offered to the others.
The owners were keen to tell us about themselves and you all know what that is like.
Wolfeboro does not offer many places to say, but I would certainly avoid this one.

This was our second stay. We got lucky and were able to walk to the school next door to watch the fireworks. Huge bonus! We were greeted so warmly by Cindy. A nice clean room and an amazing breakfast spread in the morning. We will definitely be back!
