The view was amazing, the hotel was great. Colin, the cabana boy with our umbrellas and chairs at the best , he's the most friendliest staff member to deal with at 9 am!
But I will be honest, I felt I was being chased out of the hotel when it came time for checkout- Housekeeping came into our room twice (while we had our do not disturb sign out) and it was 9 am in the morning. They didn't know, they walked right in on me. There were literally waiting at the door for us to leave at 11:00 at the dot. Additionally, there has to be a better way w/ the tightness of the small hallways and the housekeeping carts . We couldn't get a luggage cart/caddy down the same hallway where a housekeeping cart was located (we did call out for them but no one answered).
Another improvement I would like to see - I think the townhomes/rooms would benefit from having a small broom and brush b/c of the sand being tracked around.
Also, while this is an amazing place - our check in could have been better. We were two hours before check in (our fault) and stood in line for an hour.. and then, told they would text us our room number.. They never asked for our number, confirmed our number.. we left on an excursion, came back and had to wait in a line for about another hour just for a room number. As we were part of a conference being help there and we all booked way out in advance, I would have hoped they were prepared.

We just returned from a great stay at The Grand Hotel. It was our first stay at this hotel and in Cape May. We reserved a Ocean View Jr. Grand Room (class CJR) and were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was given some of the mixed reviews I've been reading. Room was very clean and had a lovely view of the beach and ocean from the balcony. Note, balcony is not "private", but there are "barriers" in between each room so you can see your neighbors, not an issue for us. Our room was located next to the elevator on the 4th floor but it was very quiet. The only issue we had with noise was on our last morning, people were moving furniture around in the ballroom above us at 7am, but aside from that it was very quiet all weekend. The room itself was functional for a couple, nice beachy decor and comfortable king bed and pillows. One ceiling tile was stained indicating a leak at some point, but no issues during our stay. At these prices, I'd expect the tiles to be replaced but perhaps that is an off season project. The bathroom looked recently renovated and it was very clean. Only complaint was the lack of hooks on the door for towels and very little storage. Adding towel hooks to the back of the door and a shelf above the toilet would be great! The lobby was modern and beachy and the front desk team was very nice and helpful with any questions we had. We used the gym once, it had good basic cardio equipment and weights. It was extremely hot so lowering the AC or adding a large fan would do wonders! We had breakfast at Hemingway 's once and enjoyed it. We are beach people so did not use the pool or sundeck but both looked very nice! The hotel has beach loungers but we like our own chairs so didn't use them. The beach fee is not included in the hotel rate ($8/day or $15/3 days). The beach is lovely and clean and the entrance is very close to the hotel. The hotel is about a mile walk to Washington Mall, but we didn't mind. We enjoyed walking along the Promenade and the beautiful back streets of Cape May! We used Uber one day in the rain. All in all, we had a lovely stay and hope to return again either during the off season or another long weekend next summer!

The Grand Hotel in Cape May was very nice. The location was perfect. We enjoyed the outdoor pool and indoor pool and hot tub. We also went across the street onto the beach. The ocean water was chilly and it was high tide, but it was great having chairs and a beach umbrella provided. We were in room 139; unfortunately the mattress of the King Size Bed was awful. The worst I ever slept on, I didnt want to move since I unpacked all of our stuff, so I didnt say anything until we were leaving. My husband and I booked our stay on the Grand Hotel package "September to Remember". That was great since it helped us with meals and other expenses. The meals at the Hemingway Restaurant were for the most part great except for Wednesday Night Prime Rib Night. We were both in the mood for good prime rib, but instead got the worst meat we ever ate. We both asked for sharp steak knives, but that didnt seem to help. The meat was soooooo tough that we could not cut into it. The Manager was gracias. She saw that we didnt touch the prime rib and credited us. We were not hungry after that, so we split a dessert, Key Lime Bar which was very good. The previous night for dessert we split the raspberry cheesecake which was my favorite. We know that the pastry chef at the Grand Hotel was excellent. The service at the Grand was good. No complaints there. I only wish that there were restrooms at the sight of the outdoor pool. You had to walk to the building of the indoor pool to go to the restrooms. Some areas looked a little tired and needed maintenance, but I was told that a lot of repairs were done during covid. We would definitely be back to the Grand, since there were a lot more positives than negatives. We enjoyed going to the Cape May Zoo and on the Dolphin Cruise. The Avalon Deli on Ocean and Beach Streets was the best deli. I loved their Waldorf Wrap Sandwich.

We just spent a great Autumn weekend at the Grand Hotel in Cape May. We selected this hotel because of the large and wonderful indoor and outdoor pools, both of which were still open, and both of which we certainly tested out. The pools are fabulous, with both deep and shallow ends, pool towels, and plenty of lounge chairs and tables. The outside pool area has a little snack shop, and the inside pool area has a hot tub.
The hotel is huge, with many different sections, and ample parking, It is also located right across the lovely and pristine beach (which sadly, we did not use). Our room was comfortable, complete with a kitchenette and great bathroom. Everything was spic and span clean. The little window shutters are so cute, and are a testament to Victorian architecture.
I think it is a smart idea to have rooms without carpeting when there is so much sand. We had two little chairs outside our first floor door, but some rooms on the higher floors had private balconies with lounge chairs.
This hotel has a very good restaurant, as well as other facilities. I must say that Julia who works the evening check-in was one of the nicest, most patient, and kindest front desk clerks I have ever encountered (and I travel a lot!). The lady in the store does not seem to love her job quite as much, as she never even says good morning to those who come in for coffee.
I would definitely recommend this hotel, although I am sure during the Summer season the rates would be much higher. I actually found our room prices quite reasonable, and it was also Victorian Weekend and Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples' Day weekend holiday, so the hotel was pretty full.
We did walk to the main Cape May mall shopping area, but it is a bit of a hike in hot weather, so visitors may want to drive and use metered parking.
The Grand Hotel is a great choice for couples, but also wonderful for families.

The Grand Hotel could sell itself with the views, atmosphere and location alone; however, my husband and I picked The Grand to host our guests for lodging and our wedding reception because of Katlyn Mogavero (Director of Sales & Marketing, ACPWC Certified Professional, Wedding Planner).
From the very first meeting, Katlyn was professional, personable, organized, knowledgeable, fun and efficient. She made us feel comfortable from the minute we shook her hand. When you're newly engaged and have no idea what you're doing when it comes to planning a wedding, I can't emphasize enough how much of a relief it is to have a person like Katlyn in your corner.
Throughout the entire process, she guided us along, easing our worries, giving us advice and recommendations through her years of experience in the industry. She helped us pick our table linen colors in less than 5-minutes, a decision I was harping on for far longer than I'd like to admit. She answered every email concisely and with urgency.
If all of the above doesn't sell you on The Grand, maybe feedback from our guests might - (The Grand hosted our 160-person wedding reception) -"The food was hot when it came to our table, large portions, and delicious" -"That was one fabulous wedding - the setting, ocean view, food - spectacular" -"The service was phenomenal - friendly, efficient, amazing bar service and wait staff"
Everybody at The Grand was so accommodating, answered all of our questions and made hosting a large reception as easy as it could be. I would recommend them over and over again.

Good afternoon and thank you for sharing your entire experience with us. We do appreciate each and everyone of our guests taking the timeout to do so. As for Katlyn, we are very fortunate to have a very experienced individual who is one of the best in South New Jersey. We have and continue to receive rave reviews regarding Katlyn, which is a big reason why we are very successful with our weddings and events. We congratulate you and and thank you for choosing us for your special day.

The hotel is fabulous! The location and view was worth the price. We stayed in a jr suite which was on the 4th floor with a balcony and an ocean view. The amenities were spectacular. Directly across the street is the beach… towels, umbrella and lounge chairs were provided and set up at the location of our choice. The comfort station was conveniently located with easy access. The outdoor pool had a tiki bar and live music! Inside was a large jacuzzi and another large pool. Bicycle were available daily and complimentary. The room itself was spacious, and comfortable. The only downside to the room was there were no shelves in the bathroom to store toiletries, and no mirror in the main room. For us ladies it was not set up for being able to “ get ready” while someone else showers. Other than that, it was a perfect stay. I highly recommend spending the extra money for the quality. I’ll be booking a week next summer! Happy Travels.

This hotel is very overpriced, we were there in the fall, not beach season, and the prices were high. There were two weddings in the hotel the Saturday night we stayed and everything about the hotel centered on the weddings. The only dining in the restaurant that night was sitting at the bar, the breakfasts were buffet only, not what an expensive hotel should have for its guests. Parking is horrible, jockeying for parking that runs along the street with wedding guests taking spaces. The worst the hotel has either air conditioning in the room or heat, no mix. In the fall, the room is warm in the day and AC kicks on but at night there is no heat. I asked at the front desk, they said we will send up a space heater. After two reminder calls a very perturbed service guy showed up and rudely gave us the heater. Customer service does not exist at this hotel, avoid weekends if you stay here and next time we will book a smaller B&B very nearby, they look delightful and are only a block or two further from the beach.

A family member was getting married in October so I booked a room for three nights in the Grand Hotel where the wedding and reception were being held. I chose the Grand Ocean View room since it was described as a superior room with the best view of the ocean. I requested a quiet room away from the elevator and had to put down almost $300 for a deposit. When we arrived from Texas on a Wednesday at 5pm we were told we had a room by the elevator and they could not move us since they were sold out. I was also told that the room was $51 dollars more than my printed confirmation stayed. And that we had to pay the entire amount of almost $1000 before we could check in. I have traveled quite a lot and I told them I had never heard or been subjected to either of these things in the past. Their reply was that was their policy so take it or leave it ( they knew they already had almost $300 of my money and that our family members were staying here.) The hotel website also brags about their covid measures-guests and staff must wear masks, special cleaning, blah, blah, blah. No one including staff and restaurant workers were wearing a mask and the hotel clerk actually coughed in my direction without covering his mouth. I tried to use a hand sanitizer machine but it was empty. When we got to our room I saw the reason for the policies. Our room was tiny, old, and had NO ocean view. It faced the hotel next door. If you walked out on the balcony and looked to the right you could see the beach. This is not what I would call a superior ocean view. The furniture snd carpet were old. One nightstand for our king sized bed. No closet. We had an 18” rod in the corner with five hangers for the two of us. No closet. Bathroom was tiny with one towel rack, no hooks, and no counter space for the tiny sink. Only mirror in our room was in this bathroom so if a woman wants to fix her hair she must subject it to the steam and humidity of the bathroom. We went to dinner at the restaurant that night and waited almost an hour for our food. Today when we left our room the maid cart was outside. I put the maid service sign on the door and we came back several hours later to a dirty room. No service for us! There is no way this room should be more than $200 a night (and that’s stretching it). It is a beach community in off season and there are numerous places to stay that look considerably nicer than this dump. We are paying over $350 a night. We feel that we are being taken advantage of since they know we are here for a family event. Though with their deposit and pay in full before check in policies anyone could be taken advantage of.

I would have given this hotel 5 stars but the dining room was it's downfall for me. On Oct. 1 we went to the dining room at 6:20 and were told we had to wait until 7:15 b/c a charter bus with 40 seniors arrived without reservations and they accommodated them. Ok we wait and weren't served until 8:00pm. On Oct. 4, before check out, we arrive at the dining room at 9:20 and weren't served until 10:10. The waitress apologized saying the hotel booked a breakfast buffet for 80 people during their busy time. Good thing we packed up before we went. We finished breakfast at 10:30 which was only eggs, bacon and home fries. The hostess should have told us and the people after us that there would be a long wait. I left my relaxing time aggravated. You think they would have offered us something off our bill since it was their fault that service was so slow.

Having our wedding here was the best decision. Not only was the venue amazing but we were so satisfied with the hotel rooms. They look recently refurbished, were all clean, and we even had a beautiful view of the ocean. All guests who booked within the room block were also happy with their rooms. We will be sure to go back every year for our anniversary.

The room was old by my standards and we stay at the Marques De Lafyette which is really old, but updated. My wife booked at the last minute and that was how we got there. Would rather almost sleep in my car then stay there again.
There are more places to choose from in the Cape May area.
