The Renaissance Newark Airport Hotel offers a park and fly package and a praised airport shuttle service, which many guests find convenient. The hotel's lobby and restaurant have been well-received for their cleanliness and recent renovations. However, opinions on the hotel's atmosphere and room conditions are split; while some guests commend the clean and comfortable accommodations, others are disappointed by the dated decor and have encountered maintenance issues like faulty air conditioning. Service quality varies, with commendations for staff friendliness countered by criticisms regarding inconsistent housekeeping. Furthermore, the value proposition of the hotel is questioned due to pricey extras and lackluster amenities.

This Bonvoy Marriott Hotel recently had an impressive renovation done and it is now my favorite Newark airport hotel. Checking in on the Bonvoy app (room key is scanned to your phone)or at the hotel is a simple process and the staff is very courteous and accommodating. I commend the front desk employees (Jermaine & Nikki) and the manager Renelle as they went out of their way to make my stay an enjoyable experience. I travel a lot and the benefits I receive as a Bonvoy titanium elite member enhance my trip every time I stay at a hotel in the chain. The new fitness center is impressive, large, clean and full of brand new equipment (peloton bikes as well.) The renovation also included the executive lounge and the lobby area. The rooms are very comfortable and there are free laundry machines available on the second floor. The shuttle service is convenient and the hotel is a short distance from EWR airport.
There are many reasons to choose this great hotel & I highly recommend it.

This hotel is very nice. It has a very open floor plan on the main floor with the restaurante, meetings rooms, front desk, breakfast area, all in the same area, yet not crowded.

The rooms are very nice and comfortable. It has a large desk area to work at as well as a huge TV and sitting area for when you are not working. The large windows allow you to see the entire airport area if you are on the side facing the airport. There are washers and dryers but they do not work so well unless you have a very small load.

Overall, this is a nice hotel that fits the bill for price and comfort. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

I had zero expectations for this hotel, I just needed a decent hotel for the night before an early morning flight at Newark the next day. Arriving at Terminal C, I followed all the signage, found the Airtrain and took it to P4. All hotel shuttles pick up from there and it’s pretty straightforward. Just wait for the right one, hand your luggage over to the driver and hop on. The Renaissance shuttle arrived on the dot every 15 minutes. First shuttle was full, and so I took the second one.

I haven’t got any status at all with Marriott Bonvoy, but check in was swift, there were reviewers who complained of impersonable service, but I wasn’t bothered. I got my room within 5 minutes and took myself past the massive professional gym and up the lift.

Room was surprisingly spacious and comfortable! Furniture was a little worn and tired, but acceptable. Most importantly, massive king size bed with clean pressed ironed sheets, thick comfy mattress and nice fluffy pillows. Air conditioning worked well, kept nice and cold, albeit a little clunky. Huge flat screen tv, coffee maker with complimentary tea and coffee.

Toilets could really do with some work. It’s chipped and slightly yellowing, shower curtains didn’t really work. But clean and perfectly serviceable. Shower had good pressure. Aveda toiletries. Nothing to shout about, also nothing to complain about. Please replace the hair dryer though!

Be forewarned, the walls are paper thin. I was on a floor with a group split into different rooms, probably in adjoining rooms, and I could hear every single word they said. But nothing a good pair of ear plugs couldn’t solve.

Dining options are very limited but a simple salad and soup are pretty decent. There’s no complimentary water and it is expensive to purchase at their convenience store, so buy it at the airport on your way to the hotel.

Overall, this hotel exceeded expectations. It served its purpose and I had a really good nights’ sleep!

On a cursory glance, this place appears nice enough. It is not! For the price you would expect clean towels, a shower that drained properly, a towel rack that doesn’t fall when you remove a towel. The towels were frayed. I even had a best western towel in my room. The check in was efficient and the restaurant food was ok. Stay somewhere else.

I have stayed near Newark Airport numerous times and stayed at most if the hotels nearby of the major brands. This hotel has moved into my favorite because ease of access, quiet rooms, great staff and good dining. They have a large workout facility and it is open during Covid. The Concierge Lounge is closed during the Pandemic but if you are an elite Rewards member the give you a daily voucher. The food in both the Lounge and restaurant has been excellent previously and they have a scaled down menu with ample selections. If needed they do provide an Airport shuttle which is only minutes away. I will stay here every time when I return.

They may pull this place the renaissance, but it is clearly locked in the dark ages. The rooms, hallways and elevators are all threadworn and tatty. The bathtub was chipped all over it from too many resurfacing jobs. In the past I was only given one packet of coffee in the room and if you wanted more, you have to pay two dollars for a cup downstairs that leads to the breakfast, don’t do it! Unless you like grainy processed scrambled eggs that were obviously cooked elsewhere and frozen. I am very disappointed because this hotel claims to be a luxury brand. Luxury it ain’t!

Location: The hotel is maybe a 10 minute ride from Newark Airport, so very convenient. As with all the hotels in Newark there is nothing around the hotel, no shops or restaurants within walking distance.
Shuttle: Every 15 minutes, on time, no complaints!
Check-in/ out: There was a problem. I’d booked 2 visits to the hotel. One arriving in the USA and another stay the day before we left the USA. This left the receptionist positive I’d double booked one stay. When he finally understood that there should be the 2 reservations a month apart, he told me that though I’d booked both stays on the app as prepaid, they hadn’t debited the payments. I queried why, and was told he’d no idea. “Just trust me!” I really don’t find that an explanation that was acceptable, and when I told him, I was met with an indifferent shrug! On a positive note we were checked in on arrival, which was just after 9am and a 16 hour flight. Big thumbs up for that!
Covid: Sanitizer was everywhere and masks visible. Very reassuring!
Room: Standard room, a bit on the tight side. But clean and everything worked.
Restaurant:It was part of the bar with standard fare, pretty average and really overpriced. Seems they take advantage of the fact that you have no other options!
Wi-Fi: was easy to access and a decent speed.
TV and Air-conditioning: No problems, with a nice big screen TV set.

Would we stay again? I think so. The basics seem to all be in place, and it’s the usual airport hotel experience, with few glitches.

Low expectations for Newark airport, but was surprised by our experience after recent positive reviews when we arrived. Room was very very tired. Holes in the carpet were filled with some plastic material. Staff were curt and unhelpful - I had a few basic questions about getting to the airport, dropping off car, and the staff just wanted to process the check in and move on. Note also if you do choose this hotel - make sure you confirm what it includes - to my surprise my reservation came without Wifi and if you have a rental car, its $19 for overnight parking.

Very disappointed with this hotel! I have stayed at this particular hotel for years, like 15+ years, so I am no stranger to this location. I have in the past, dealt with Monika, the former GM, but she has since left and now there is someone new. During our stay, we were granted with free Conceirge access for breakfast, which was very nice; however, the overall experience was horrible. My friend and I arrived approximately 11:30 PM after spending the day in NYC. There was no parking in the front, so we had to park around the back. The one main door was all boarded up, because someone drove through it, and the other three doors were locked. I attempted to use the phone that was in the corridor but that did not work, not even a dial tone. We had to walk all the way around the building, in the dark, with our suitcases. Once we got in, I told one of the clerks at the front end that the phone did not work, and his reply to me was "the doors are locked at 11PM'. Obviously he did not comprehend what I said, which that the phone did not work, which should be considered a safety issue, being that no one would ever know if someone needed them back there - no security on the premises, nothing. So now we get to our room and we are not only disgusted but exhausted from the day. We get to our room and find that this room is very much in need of refurbishment. Stains on the bathroom ceiling, paint peeling from the walls, wallpaper hanging from the bathroom wall where it was cut out and pieced back in, missing shampoo bottle, chipped/peeling bathtub and dirty toilet. Out of all the rooms this hotel has, I feel like we may have scored one of the most UNDESIRABLE rooms in the whole building. To say disappointed would be an understatement. The next morning, we tried to sleep in, but had cleaning people outside of our room bright and early. I am assuming they were in other rooms, but their stuff was smack, dab right out in front of our room door. However the best had to be, having housekeeping letting themselves into our room, without knocking or anything, while we were still in there. Of course, I complained to the new GM, but the same old reply, "I will let housekeeping know and have them look into it" - which in translation means, "hmmm sorry for the bad stay, but we are still not going to do anything for you'. Just be aware if you stay here, the hotel is in very bad need of updates, the hotel staff leaves a lot to be desired, and you may want to keep your door locked at all time, because housekeeping staff may let themselves in.

My husband's company hosted a work conference at the Renaissance Hotel and booked rooms for the out of town employees. We were very impressed by the large sized room. The bed was very comfortable! The room was clean and had a large TV.
The restaurant had good food and a good selection on the menu. Will definitely stay again when visiting Newark.
