The PERFECT hotel for visiting NYC! My husband and I stayed here for two nights visiting from Ohio. It is a little dated but was very clean, friendly staff, and close enough to walk to the subway (about a 10 min walk). The area felt safe. Parking was free which is a huge perk! The hotel is close to a couple fast food places and gas stations if you need something quick. Andrea, the front desk attendant helped direct us how to get to the subway. The rest of the staff was also friendly. The breakfast included orange juice, coffee, muffins, donuts, apples, croissants, instant oatmeal, etc. We took the subway our first two days then drove to Liberty Park to see the Statue of Liberty by ferry. This is truly the best bang for your buck if you’re looking for a budget friendly place to visit near NYC.

This was our third trip to NYC and our third stay at the Holland. Hotel is great for what we needed which was a reasonable place to stay at night after walking all over NYC during the day. Beds are comfortable and the room is spacious enough with a refrigerator and microwave included. Bathroom is nice with a great shower. Outside noise has never been a problem for us and the view from the room we were in this last time was of the NYC skyline. The breakfast spread that they put out each morning is great and just what you need to get the day started before you walk all day. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Path Train but not a hard walk at all. Love that you never have to move your car after you park it once you arrive and that the parking is free. Have always felt safe at this motel with the nice employees that work there.

The Holland Hotel was a gem in the area. We spent several nights there. It was well situated to walk to the Path Rail System for travel into New York City. Lot's of walk to restaurants in the area and most surprising of all, it was quiet even with rush hour through the Holland Tunnel. We do recommend requesting a room on the parking lot side of the hotel. Breakfast was pastries, good coffee and some fruit choices. The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area and getting around in the area. Did I mention the free parking? The rooms are not spacious, but clean and well appointed.

I booked this hotel two months in advance and I thought I had made a good deal. Hotels are expensive in Manhattan so this looked good. I was very disappointed. The room was poor...in the basement with no view..but then again the surroundings are not very appealing. The smell inside the room was like someone had smoked a pack of cigarettes before we came..the door was paper thin and I could hear every word spoken in the hall. The carpet was crusty and old. The breakfast is served in the lobby and it had only room for four people. The only positive things were the location witch was OK only a seven minutes walk from the PATH station that took us directly into Manhattan and helpful staff. I would not recommend this hotel...pay little bit more..you will not regret it.

Holland Hotel is suitably located if you are visiting NJ or NY. The check-in was smooth, rooms were comfortable, well serviced, breakfast was ideal and coffee was unlimited. Most important, the car parking was inclusive and free. The late night food service is adjoining the property and Macdonalds is in walkable distance. If you like to sit and dine/wine, it's just 450 mtrs in walkable distance. Subway train station is approx 600-900mtrs walking distance. Overall, this is an ideal property unless you wish to burn extra dollars for branded star properties. Every dollar spent here in worth more and you feel a return on spending done. Additionally, I wish to Applaud there hospitality as we checked out and continued our trip to another city and returned the next day before heading back to Canada where we decided to see the NYC again by evening. With a request although we already checked out, the front desk lady permitted us to park our car as complimentary for 5 hours which was sufficient for us. I would like to thank you for this and this one gesture will bring us back to Holland hotel everytime we plan a tour here.

This hotel was above and beyond our expectations. It is located in a great location right off the Holland tunnel, and about a 10 minute walk to the Newport PATH station. We were able to walk directly through the mall, so we felt very safe. Even after we checked out they let us remain parked there while we traveled to the city the next day. The room was on the smaller side, but very clean and comfortable. I definitely recommend this hotel, and we will be returning whenever we come back to the area.

Good Budget priced hotel with interior hallways (no elevator so ask for room on lobby floor), similar to maybe a Super 8. But with good amenities. Microwave and mini-fridge in rooms. Nice patio. Usually continental breakfast is offered, but only coffee while we were there due to state health restrictions. Free parking with security in a safe area so you can park your car and walk to nearby Newport PATH Sta into Manhattan ($5.50 RT), walk to shopping nearby at Newport Center mall & several big box stores, and walk to nearby fast food (BK, McD), mall food court or other nicer mall restaurants.

As always when you checkin to a hotel the first contact is very important.
We were lucky that a lady named Judith took care of us at the reception. Extremely helpful. She gave us all necessary info and advice!

I would say this Hotel is a gem for the value you get compared to Manhattan.
Clean room!
An OK brekfast is included. You get feed enough calories until lunch hour...
There are some local stores around liquer, groceries etc.... Then you also have the Newport Centre Mall for additional shopping if you couldn't find you stuff in Manhattan.
8-10 minute walk to the PATH train which takes you to Manhattan. WTC or close Macy's , Empire State Building (33:rd Street)
(Don't forgot that on Weekends and late nights there is a change of PATH lines working and you might need to change train)

If you walk 2 minutes past PATH to Hudson river you have a nice skyline view of Manhattan.

When we get back to NYC I will book this Hotel again.

This was a great place for what we needed and wanted. The room was very nice and since we had a morning flight out of Newark the next day, it couldn't have been better. Although we didn't take any, the continental breakfast looked wonderful. Once we parked the car, we didn't want to drive anymore in the traffic so we asked the clerk for a good place to eat. She recommended a nice little bar/restaurant down the street (about 3 blocks) and we enjoyed a nice dinner and glass of wine. I would recommend.

We loved this place. We wanted a hotel that wasn't going to drain our bank account and that would allow for a comfortable night's sleep after walking the city for hours. The rooms are small but very clean (most important in my books!). The small fridge and microwave are a really nice touch. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
They offer free wifi, parking, basic breakfast, all that combined with the cleanliness of the place and friendliness of the staff - in my opinion that's the perfect combo right there. Yes, the hotel is next to the Holland Tunnel entryway... so there is traffic, but we didn't hear it at all with the ac turned on. Short walk to the PATH trains. Perfect place to crash after a long day of walking and exploring bustling NYC.

I am not sure. We booked it through Hotwire, and it was a prepay. All they did was verify my Credit card.

Answer from Peter Z

The Holland hotel provides a breakfast but there is no indoor seating just lots outdoors, so in bad weather you would have to take drinks/food back to your room. Unless I missed it there is no bar at all.

No. No Bar. There is not even a restaurant. If you are looking for bar or good food, Holland Hotel is not the place for you. There are probably other Hotels in the vicinity that are better equipped.

Does the hotel have free parking for a bus?
Answer from K C
Toronto, Canada20 contributions34 helpful votes
The parking for the hotel is free, but I think it'd be for cars/vans/SUV's. It's a small parking lot; maybe 40 cars. I don't think they can accommodate a private bus/coach. Better to call them, to see if they have other arrangements with the surrounding area when they're full. (201) 963-6200
