We stayed here for 4 nights as a family of 4. Overall our stay was not too bad but as soon as we got there we were told due to flight cancellations of previous guests that our room was not ready. We waited for nearly 1 hour to check in, it was getting late into the evening and it was rather annoying after a long 7 hour flight and young children. They gave us a voucher for $30 free appetisers which I said we don’t want and could we exchange for some bottled water etc and they agreed. Room was eventually ready and was quite big. The beds are really small though so it was a squeeze. The sofa bed is not comfortable and make a horrible noise. We needed to ask for more towels as there were only 3! Couldn’t get more little milks for the room and couldn’t buy any in the limited food store at the hotel. It’s in a good location for PATH train.

Hotel is a great place to stay in Jersey City, clean Spacious rooms, great service, Jessa at front desk was wonderful, 5 min walk to path trains into manhattan in less than 10 min, or you can take the ferry, large mall 2 blocks away and grocery store 5 min walk, lots of dining and shopping nearby, However have stayed here many times and was disappointed by the breakfast offering, it was a not as it was, no music, just a dead zone, no salmon, no cooked to order omelette the staff doesn't seat or greet you just a 34.00 seat yourself and sign when you leave, completely self-serve, way over priced for the offerings provided. Other than that it was a great stay. parking 32.00 a day safe attached garage.

I didn't get to pick this hotel, it was where I had to stay for a wedding. But it wasn't bad. The rooms are decent sized and clean. My main complaint was the charging for everything. We arrived at 2:30 pm (official check in is 4pm) and were told that "while we have a room ready, you can't access it unless you pay a $25 early fee." What? Talk about not being hospitable. It's like they want you to have a chip on your shoulder the minute you arrive, instead of feeling welcomed into the home you'll be staying at for the next number of nights. Who charges for checking in as "early" as 2:30pm? I couldn't believe it. And though I am a Hilton Rewards member, I still had to pay $10 for water and $5 for a teeny tiny bag of potato chips from the front-desk store. They just seemed to charge excessively for everything, making you feel not so much a guest, as a customer they could exploit for the duration of your stay.

From the time my family checked in on Tuesday until we checked out Saturday, we had no wifi in the room. The first day the person at the desk told me the hotel itself was having problems overall. The next morning when we still couldn’t get on I was told by a different person all the wifi in the building was fine and to contact support. My daughter spent over half an hour on the phone and nothing was resolved. I walked down to the front desk and was told to try connecting in the lobby and maybe the connection would continue in my room (it did not). He also said he would let the manager know and she could call support as well. On the third day I received a check-in text from the desk asking how things are and I repeated that we still had no wifi. No response. My daughter called support again and spent another half hour on the phone with no result. The next day I had a text conversation with the front desk. He claimed he went to our floor and checked empty rooms on either side of us and it worked fine. (That may be true, but I am dubious.) He then offered to show me on his phone that the wifi worked. I complained and asked what good that would do us if his phone worked. He finally apologized and offered to comp the expensive $27+tax daily parking fee for our week. Upon arriving home I found we had been billed by the hotel even though we had prepaid through a third party. I called the hotel, who told me to email the manager and gave me her email address. After emailing on Monday I had heard nothing by Friday, so I called her and she said it was in process of being refunded. When it finally was the next week, it was for almost $40 less than what we had originally been billed. In looking at the invoice I see they had neglected to comp us for one day of parking. I replied by email explaining this and including screenshots from my text conversation where this was agreed upon. No answer. After two weeks I emailed again, including screenshots of the texts, invoices, etc., and got no response. This is not an inexpensive hotel and to be treated in such a shoddy fashion is unacceptable to me. Not to mention lack of wifi could be a serious problem for anybody trying to keep in touch with the office, as well as infuriating for teenagers staying in a room for vacation. Can’t recommend this hotel.

Stayed 3 nights with my wife and 8 year old boy.

So the usual debate, do you pay a much higher price to stay in Manhattan or do you save the money on the hotel and stay at Jersey side?

We decided on the latter as it was the holidays and we were planning to drive into Manhattan. (as it was near Christmas/weekend) we manage to find free parking on the streets sometimes...

Room itself was sufficient and had a good view of Manhattan. The roads are always busy in and out of Manhattan so do take note.

Overall a good stay.

Hotel Room: 4 Stars (Overall a comfortable room)
Room View: 3 Stars (Good view of a building & Manhattan)
Service of Staff: 3 Stars (Standard service, self help with luggage)
Lounges/Restaurants: 3 Stars (Average breakfast)
Room Service: NA
Location: 4 Stars (Relatively quick drive to Manhattan)

We stayed for 4 nights in early Feb - family of 2ad and 3 kids. Opted to stay here as we could get a corner suite which had two rooms, sleeping 6 with city view for 1k - allowing us to have more space in our accommodation and balance with cost of ubers in and out of city (although the PATH train service is super close by and super easy to navigate).
Accommodation was spacious, spotless and the Hilton Honours app and feature to chat with hotel lobby personnel directly was excellent. Staff were super friendly and helpful.
Easy to walk to nearby Newport mall with some food and shopping options and 5 minutes from direct commute train to NY. Would recommend and would return.

This hotel is amazing! If you are visiting NYC with a family, it's hard to find a room big enough in the city, and parking is expensive. This hotel is new, and the rooms are clean, comfortable, and quiet. They have comfortable beds and sofa beds (yes, really) with the option of getting a rollaway bed. The staff is very helpful with things like teaching you how to navigate the subway system with Apple Maps. (This is very handy!) The only complaint we had is that instead of a continental breakfast, they are doing a la cart breakfast items for sale. You get a $12/pp credit for up to two people per room per day. But the breakfast offerings are very slim and overpriced. You do have to pay $27/day to park, but this is half of what you'd pay in the city. We were impressed with Jersey City too. There is a great view of the city across the water, and it is a well-kept and well-landscaped area. There are a lot of restaurants near the hotel, and the subway is just a couple blocks away. It's a breath of fresh air after spending a full day in NYC.

We have been traveling a lot during the college search for my eldest daughter. To save some money and have our vehicle, we have driven the last two times to visit universities in NYC. I don’t trust myself to drive in the city yet, so we stayed at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel & Suites in Jersey City. It is the perfect location - easy to navigate, quiet, less expensive, and only about a 7 minute walk to the Newport PATH. The rooms are spacious, and as Hilton Diamond Members, they take extra care of us with upgraded rooms overlooking the Hudson at the City and comped parking. We found this hotel a year ago, just stayed a second time and we will continue to come back. We want to thank Betsy at the Front Desk who went above and beyond to make sure this stay was extra special.

Small bed, sofa bed for terrible children, we asked to change rooms and we were forced to sleep in a small room to avoid the sofa beds. The bed in the first room was a queen size and when we moved, we specified we wanted the same size bed. As a result, we had to sleep on two small double beds (two parents and two children).
Nevertheless the place is nice and pleasant, the restaurant is correct and the location too. However, it is difficult to get in because there are several access points…
