Stayed here for two nights. My colleagues stayed at airport locations but I didn't and regretted it. Gateway Plaza is being redone, and Newark Penn is being renovated and I have to think this hotel will need a substantial renovation as well. The hotel is old and worn. There was no food at all, which was interesting because I had dinner with colleagues at the Newark Airport Marriott so it's not totally a COVID thing. The first impression is of an armed guard at the front door who asks if you're staying here. There used to be a poorly marked skybridge from the station to the hotel but that's all under construction, so you get to play Frogger across the street. No cookie! Which I'm guessing is because the oven is in the kitchen which is closed, but this again seemed like a simple touch that they just couldn't get right. The room was acceptable. I wish they had USB plugs in addition to the outlets. Also I had a Corner King room which sounds big, but the only difference I could tell was the bathroom had an antechamber with another sink. Which was weird because the actual bathroom (sink, toilet, shower/tub) was really small and they could have just knocked down that wall and made a really nice bathroom. They don't have the money I'm guessing. And they won't have more of mine. I'll stay in Harrison at a newer hotel and just take the 5 minute cab/Lyft ride.

Access to this hotel is less than ideal because the train station across the street causes traffic jams on the access roads. The hotel is a typical average middle-of-the-city experience. Attended a conference here and found the conference rooms quite dark - getting much natural light was hard.

Great location - great service. Staff took goo care of us. Room was very spacious, comfortable and clean. A little hard to get into hotel at rush hour because of train station. Parking EXTREMELY expensive - be warned!
