Last time i visited this hotel I was critical of many aspects - the rather tired decor, the food, but above all the service. I was rather reluctant to go back, but needs must, so returned. I felt that the hotel had made huge strides in its attitude and service. Staff were smiling, friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the exec...

Being close to Newark Penn Station is the main plus - and with a over-street walkway you never have to go outside is a real plus. You are just a few stops to NYC from Penn Station where you get great value. As for the Hotel itself, it is disappointing. The rooms are updated and clean, and you have outlets...

Stayed at the beginning of December for one night to go to the Jets game. Perfectly situated to get around New York. The station has very easy links to Times Square, World Trade Centre and MetLife stadium so travelling is not a problem. Didn't eat in the restaurant and the bar feels separate from the hotel and was virtually empty...

This hotel is a great plce to stop if you want to visit New York city. The hotel is connected to the 'Path' railway and only takes 20 mins to the World Trade centre station for $2.50. There are some eating places within the Gateway which is linked to the hotel which is all inclosed from the weather. The rooms...

A very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were very comfortable and in good condition. An easy walk over to the Penn Station for a easy transfer to Penn Station New York. From there it was no problem to connect to the subway or move around in NYC. I will stay here again.

I grew up on New York and my recollection of Newark, New Jersey was not a good one. I was very surprised to find this area of Newark to be up and coming. The staff at the front desk are exceptional. Felt very welcome and taken care of by the staff. Manager even took the time to show me directions to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. This Hilton is in a great location adjacent to Penn Station - Newark. We paid $189 + tax with $21 per night for parking. The rooms were remodeled, but attention to detail was not a priority. Convenient location at Penn Station - I used the Amtrak and Path connections during my stay and I also used the excellent shuttle service to Newark airport, so no complaints there.
