The Robert Treat Hotel's prime location is frequently lauded by guests for its convenience and easy access to transit. However, the hotel's value is often called into question due to unexpected charges, such as parking fees. While the establishment's cleanliness receives mixed reviews, with some travelers finding it adequate and others encountering issues with room cleanliness and odors, the amenities and service evoke a range of feedback from commendable to disappointing. Moreover, despite the appealing atmosphere and notable location, the rooms are criticized for their lack of amenities and dated furnishings.

In a word: awful. Read all the negative reviews here. I experienced them all. Staff was unnecessarily rude, restaurant closed, bad room smell. My flight was cancelled and I was given choices. I should have researched on google. Stay away.

Staff were unfriendly and seemed annoyed to be asked to assist me with checkin. When I asked questions like where the room is or where to park I received one word vague answers. As a single woman, I did not feel safe in the evening walking even the short block or two to nearby quick serve restaurants. And, while I was waiting for a family member to come meet me in the lobby and be my escort, the front desk staff and another guest were exchanging curse words and yelling at each other while the security guard stood by and observed (did nothing). The room was clean at least. The bathroom seemed recently renovated. The bed was uncomfortable with springs that poked me. The room was also very warm and smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. There was a lot of noise from the room next door (I could hear their entire conversations) and that went on until 2am. It was so uncomfortably hot in the room that I got up at 3am and opened the window. But then I got to hear all the street noise including many sirens. My traveling companions in another room on another floor had the same experience with noise and room temperature, but their window didn’t open and they also had no cups in the room. None of us slept more than 4 hours. I will never stay here again and I would not send anyone I liked to this hotel. In particular, I would not recommend this hotel to single female travelers. It is not safe.

It’s very close to EWR; we were flying out early so it seemed like a good option. Saturday night stay overpriced, but that’s expected. Many events going on, also expected. Room was pleasantly clean but very bare with no coffee maker or microwave. On site restaurant is good but overpriced. Biggest issue is that we were woken at 4am by someone screaming in the hallway, a blood curdling scream. No sleep after that. Lobby looks nice for the most part. It’s Newark, I wasn’t expecting much and got pretty much what I expected.

When I arrived to the hotel the staff was extremely nice and guided me to where to park instructions were simple and straight forward. Easily found parking without issue even though I was a late night check in they were very friendly and helpful as well as the staff in the morning . I would say the pillows and bed were decent definitely not the best for a long stay but for a night or two or a weekend very doable too and very clean. I felt safe as a single traveler especially regarding the card access with the elevators and the door bolt and door security. Again room was very neat and clean my only single complaint that kept this from making a five star reviews was the smell in the hallway leading up to my door. I don’t know if it was the eight floor alone or if there was a recent water spillage but foul is the only way I could describe the smell in the hallway that seemed to be coming from the carpet is my guess. Even when bolting my door at night I would hold my breath when approaching the door as the smell from the hallway really was foul but unless going to the closest which is right by the door the room itself did not smell and was very clean. I would def book a short stay again due to the staff and otherwise cleanliness of the hotel room but would either avoid the 8th floor and hopefully it’s not the same on other floors, but given my lung capacity it didnt bother me as much as I was able to hold my breath from the door to elevator :) would book again

I had a great stay at the Robert Treat Hotel. The staff was great. I went to a concert at the Prudential and it was a five minute walk. The restaurant inside the hotel was exquisite. I ate there twice and was not disappointed. I would stay again.

AWFUL. Cheap beds and linens. Cheap towels. Terrible customer service. Very thin walls and people awake loud all hours of the night. Miserable experience. I needed the airport shuttle early, arrange it the night before with one staff member, and the staff member in the morning had zero interest in helping me, so I was late for my flight.

Absolutely trash hotel, don't get me wrong the Lobby is very nice, the employees on the other hand, didn't seem they knew what they were doing, first we got a queen bed, was definitely a double and half of the bed springs were broken, they wouldn't even give us extra pillows or an extra blanket, got stuck in the elevator 2/twice, messaged/emailed the general manager with no response, don't book this hotel, spend extra for a nicer one, oh and they said they have a shuttle service that runs from there hotel to the airport every 15-30 mins, but me and my group and another group was waiting outside of the airport for over an hour, TRASH HOTEL, NEVER EVER AGAIN,

This is by no means a “premier” hotel. We were put here by an airline because we missed our connecting flight. The room smelled like smoke. The carpet had burn marks and the ceiling had a big water stain with the stucco missing. The walls were thin and the bathroom was really tiny. The whole place just felt tired. I would not stay here again.

Needed a hotel before flying out of Newark and it was passable for one night. Definitely not Premier like the name of the hotel suggests. But we didn’t pay much for it either! The first clue about the hotel was that they were pretty disorganized behind the desk. One of two was on the phone and the other was dealing with complaints of no hot water in their rooms. The front desk staff was pleasant but didn’t greet us in any way. Just asked for our ID. The furnishings and carpet throughout the hotel and in the rooms were pretty budget. Room was clean and functional but smelled of cigarette smoke from past occupants. There were no hangers in the closet. Nice that they have some parking behind the hotel. And there is an underground parking lot across the street in the park. Also nice that they have a safe and fridge in the room.

Very disappointing. The bathroom was so small both me and my husband couldn’t be in it at the same time. And we are not large people. Ridiculous. One light above the mirror was out. See pics. Good thing I brought my lighted makeup mirror with me! The bathroom light switch practically fell into the wall when pushed on. See pics. Only one washcloth, good thing I bring my own. The room was not clean, there was drywall scrapings and some brown dried chunky substance under the radiator that I was afraid to touch to identify, see pics. The mattress was so old and flat that we both woke up several times during each night in pain in our backs and legs. The bed skirt had crusty smudges on it on one side of the bed. See pics. Absolutely disgusting!!! Only one clothes hanger in the closet. There was almost no amenities, no coffee pot in the room, no coffee station in the lobby for guests, no hot coffee anywhere! The staff was accommodating when we asked for more washcloths and an additional blanket. The restaurant was acceptable. Not great, there were bones in my fish and the vegetables were not cooked well. I had to ask for salt because the food wasn’t seasoned. Our waitress was outstanding! Josie, you deserve a raise! We wish you only the best! Sadly, The only good thing about this hotel is it’s location. It definitely isn’t living up to the hype online. If we ever come to Newark again, we will not be staying at this hotel.
