We've been staying at this hotel for many years and always come back because the rooms are comfortable, large (in the main building, less so in the annex), there's plenty of free parking (we can park our truck there), there is inexpensive and fast transport into NYC. It's not fancy but it's a great value. In the winter it's cheaper and there's plenty of space available. In the summer it's more expensive and in demand so you have to reserve further in advance.
I came last minute and was given great service both by the woman on the phone and the man behind the counter. Check in was swift and easy. It was easy to find my room and I was pleasantly surprised for a room off the 440. The room was clean and almost everything worked. The bathroom was spotless, the rug wasn't sticky, I only had one cigarette burn on my sheets and no bedbugs! It had a mini fridge and microwave. The colors and art were warm and inviting, a plus when you're in the midst of a psychotic episode and a binge. The bed was really comfy which made a great place for crying and going catatonic. There was nice heavy, stable furniture, useful for when you have to barricade the door.to feel enough to sleep. Just a word to weary travelers from out of town who may be unaware, but these kinds of hotels aren't happy places and they're are where dreams go to die. You'll find a host of sketchy characters and everyone looks at each other with extreme suspicion. Probably not best for a woman or you'll be mistaken for a "working girl". Come for the debauchery and destitution but if you want safe, maybe look elsewhere. …
During this crazy time in our world it is nice to have staff at this hotel that are caring and thoughtful. I would like to thank Dave and Bridgette. Bridgette you have great customer service. We will visit you as soon as possible!
We really enjoyed our visit. Would return to this hotel if we make another trip to ny. The only thing that I would like to see change is that they had hard boiled eggs and I would like hot eggs. Also it would be great if they had bacon, sausage and breakfast pastries. Not much of a selection for breakfast and it was the same every morning for the 5 days we were there. Everything else was perfect.
Useless for this hotel to offer “high” speed internet when you need to go outside for your phone to work, or to make a phone call.. breakfast is on one counter not kept up.. the attendant is the hotel clerk who cannot make coffee without the grounds in it.. if staying ask to be on the top floor as you can hear stomping etc down below
