Our stay at Fransvliet was most enjoyable and highly recommended. Keywords: luxurious appartment called 'Shyraz' , lots of privacy, nice and quiet, staff very friendly, lovely and tasty breakfast with a daily specialty and a specially prepared fruit juice every morning.Great location surrounded by vineyards just outside Franschhoek.

We spent a very relaxing couple of nights here whilst visiting the wine region. The room was lovely, with stunning views from both our room and the pool. An added bonus was the beautiful gardens, which as a garden designer, I appreciated. I would have loved the opportunity to chat to Shirley, the owner, about the plants. The breakfasts were... More

Beautiful big rooms and very nice bathrooms. The all estate is very pretty and very well taken care. The only point of improvement would be to have some beverages or an honesty bar available for guests. The breakfast was very good and very fresh.

Franschhoek itself has lots of accommodation on offer but if you're prepared to stay just out of the town then this is a real gem. Shirley Guy and her team have created something really special at Fransvliet: a luxurious, spacious, relaxing, and yet homely place to stay in a beautiful setting. The accommodation is arranged as just a handful of... More

My wife and i spent 4 days here out of a two week holiday around the winelands. It was the highlight of the holiday and more enjoyable than the four days spent in a 5* hotel in Cape Town. The staff were both helpful and friendly and happy to advise on, and book, excursions. We loved the breakfasts that were... More

Unfortunately we spent only two days in Fransvliet. The rooms are very pretty and the breakfast is amazing. The portobello with the poached eggs were o so delicious and the scrambeld eggs with aspergus en smokes salmon the next day to. Perfect location for visiting the vineyards. We will definitely return next year!!

This is a place we have already booked for next year because we loved it so much. The daily special breakfast is to die for and Shirley makes sure that everyone is well taken care of. Shirley, Victor & the team are very welcoming and helpful. The accommodation is bright, light and comfortable and the breakfasts are amazing. A great place to stay, a bit away from the town, with easy access to loads of restaurants, activities and walks.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Fransvliet Guest House is a tranquil, luxury retreat, only 4 kilometres from the heart of Franschhoek. It is situated on a working farm, growing grapes, olives and figs. Wake up to the call of the birds and in the evening perhaps hear the resident owls calling as they contemplate the night's hunt. Breathtaking mountain views are all around, each one more spectacular than the last. The individually decorated suites are pure luxury, with absolute attention to detail. Soft wineland colours set the tone for a perfect stay. Breakfast is an occasion, every day. Spend time in the newly renovated 65 year old house, either inside or on the veranda, enjoying the view of the pool and the vineyards. Celebrate "the best meal of the day" with either a Continental or a full breakfast that will include seasonal specials. The sparkling pool is at your disposal for those hot lazy afternoons. Relax in the shade with a magazine and an ice cold drink, before you cool off. Lazy winter days are a treat too. Snuggle up in your suite in a comfy armchair with your own personal fireplace - the perfect way to enjoy one of the local bottles of red wine. Meander through the garden, (both indigenous and other) on your way to your suite. Something special will be flowering at all times. In season, luscious figs will be found on the trees, and the scent of lemons may be in the air too. Take an early morning walk around the farm in December. The vines will be green and laden with fruit. In July, a few burgundy coloured leaves and bare sticks have their own attraction. Soak up the 360° view, especially the powerful Simonsberg mountains. ... more   less
