we were part of a large group. the main house was OK, even though the oven required a chair to be put to keep it closed , and other minor glitches . those who stayed i the cottages had to face: dirty sheets, marked towels , dirty couches , the gardens all badly kept . duvets which are something stuffed...

This little piece of heaven just outside of Robertson is the perfect weekend getaway. Only 2 hours drive from Cape Town nestled between the mountains. It is so peaceful here and the surroundings are incredibly beautiful. You can go on a hike, the children were on the bicycles the whole day, there is a small plunge pool too... There are...

The perfect place for a weekend of peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of city living. Only 2 hours drive from Cape Town, Die Laaitjie is set between the mountains in a valley with a river flowing through it, gorgeous views in all directions, country living and very limited cellphone reception (which is just great!). We were...

Three charming 4-bed cottages and a manor house sleeping 8. We didn't get a chance to scope the manor, but it looks fancier than the cottages. We loved the place and were there in mid-winter. Great views all round, including from the beds. For the more adventurous some good walking into the mountains and up the river to a waterfall,...

Admittedly not involved in the booking or selection of this charming get-away spot, we arrived at Die Laaitjie with absolutely zero expectations - for a family-and-friends weekend away after a wedding. The road, leading to this beautiful character filled farm (yes, its a farm, not a boutique hotel), is a perfect metaphor for Die Laaitjie itself...A little on the rough...

I've been to Die Laaitjie on several occasions and can't get enough of this getaway. Nestled in the mountains about 10km outside Robertson, this is the perfect place for a relaxing, get away from it all, holiday. There is no cell phone or internet connection meaning you can really escape from the stress of city life. This time we decided...

After seeing the website, we were really excited about this and thought maybe we have found a gem. This was not the case. The cottage was dirty - so dirty that the white couches had orange blankets over them. Everything was just a bit old and not clean. We were really very disappointed and will not return.

Two families spent a weekend in the cottages at Die Laaitjie. Thanks to glorious weather we were able to walk to the waterfall and rock pools and enjoy refreshing (cold!) swims in the pools. The walks were wonderful as lots of climbing over rocks was required which ended in many falls and laughter. Long tapas lunch was had under the...

Read the review posted by Adam in 2013 - everything is true. Without going into too much detail: the place is in serious need of basic maintenance and it needs a good cleaning. BUT read the above in context of the below: My family and I spent a week at Die Laatjie in December 2013 and we thoroughly enjoyed our...

To start off, what awesome hosts!! Roger, thank you for the stories and for your help over the weekend - and what a weekend it was!! 11 ladies + one hen weekend + torrential rain = FUN GUARANTEED! The weather was terrible - absolutely pouring buckets, which is not a common occurrence in this area - so all our plans...
