Me and my boyfriend spent there 2 nights. Despite its name this place is not backpackers as commonly known in SA. It does not have dorms and the cheapest room for couple costs 480R/night. Room was very basic, which was quite dissapointing considering its price. It was very cold and damp room, we could not get warm there. Beds were...

We needed a weekend away from the craziness of life and felt like footloose travellers arriving at the backpackers under the trees in the shadow of the glorious mountain. After a welcome cup of tea, we were booked into our lovely, clean twin room with our own en suite bathroom. Wonderful, crisp linen and such scrumptious mattresses that we just...

This was my first stay at a backpackers and I truly enjoyed it. The room was very clean, the beds were exceptionally comfortable and the facility was full of character. The owner was delightful and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The morning horse ride was such a memorable event, that we will definitely return in future.

We stayed here for a night at the start of our travels along the garden route based on a recommendation in the lonely planet. Quite frankly, I have no idea why they recommended the hostel and can't believe they stayed at the same place! On arrival, the owner was quite abrupt and did not come across as very friendly. She...

I've stayed in one of the timber huts and also camped there. I must be getting old or something, but wow, have expectations changed for so called backpackers these days! Some of these reviews are just astounding! If you are a true traveller who appreciates basic accommodation, at a fair price, likes to be in surrounded by a lovely setting...

The hostel is a good stay if you want a cheap accomadation in a expensive town. For me a Backpackers should have doorms. So i think you should change your name... The walls in this hostel were like paper and you heared every word of people who are staying in the bordering rooms. The garden and veranda are very nice...

We booked an ensuite on a weekend. Lots to see in this lovely town. Quiet location of main road. Friendly hosts make you feel welcome. Cosy fire in lounge area. Bedroom was nice with good shower. Tip: avoid being next to the lovely veranda because it is where the smokers gather.

We stayed for 2 nights in a double en suite room, room was lovely, clean and comfortable, absolutely loved the tin bath & bucket idea for shower and sink. Only downside to the rooms are the thin walls. Kitchen facilities are good. Common area lovely, just a shame there's no bar. You do have to pay for wifi but this...

We stayed at Swellendam backpackets for only one night. ok backpackers if you are desperate for a bed. Got very little sleep due to chickens going off from 3 am. No laundry facilities that can be used by the guests. Internet is extra also.

Nice accommodation but the management is not involved with the guests. The rooms are small but clean and cosy. Internet is available but not for free. There is no bar in the hostel. Dinners are not being served however you can cook by yourself.
