When we made travels across South Africa back in 2011, we enjoyed this lodge very much. That's why we came back to visit it this year on our way to our final summer holiday destination. Lovely enclosed garden with pool, friendly dogs and a nice terrace. The rooms are comfortable and neat. And the owners advised us on diner reservations...

Warm welcome. Nice and hygienic rooms with a beautifull garden and pool. Breakfast was great. A walk through the idyllic village of Swellendam is possible at any time of the day. Tip: if you have the change to go to fire @ ten for dinner, you should really go there. It's a 10 minute walk from the guest house.

Arrived late with our family of 7. Rooms fairly basic. Fell down dangerous steps from bathroom in the middle of the night, not a good start. Things definitely went downhill from then on. Breakfast was a meagre affair, no choice of eggs, apart from scrambled or fried. The portion of tomato was so small it was comical! Hosts were rather...

Clean, tidy, spacious accommodation. Very friendly and helpful hosts. The fact that there is a pool is a big plus point in summer. We didn't feel like going out for supper so got a take away pizza and had it with a glass of wine at the pool.

Friendly owners, perfect location, beautiful garden, great breakfast complete with a sunbird feeding right in front of us whilst having our coffees. Marion gave us good advice about the surrounding area. This was the perfect stop off before entering nearby De Hoop National Park and also within easy reach of Cape Agulhas. We highly recommend this establishment.

The rooms are spacious and perfectly situated around the garden and pool area. Each room has seating facilities on the veranda where one can enjoy a glas of wine at sunset. Breakfast on the patio is good. Worthwhile.

This guest house is in a perfect location right on the Main Street. Fantastic backdrop of mountains and gorgeous gardens and pool area. There are some fabulous restaurants nearby (book in advance for the best rated ones on Trip Advisor). The friendly and helpful couple than run the place also advised us of great walks locally. Fil and Marion were wonderful, they couldn't have been more helpful to us as we had had an unfortunate start to our stay in S.A. having left the road just 5kms. from Swellendam. Marula Lodge is clean, comfortable and well positioned for restaurants to eat at night. Breakfast was also v. good. Thanks.
