Been to South Africa four times and this is the only place that we have placed first on the team sheet every time. Initially we used Rothman as a resting place along the Garden Route but more recently we have stayed because of the sheer class and beauty of the property - expertly run by Andreas and Franzisca. The suites...

We travelled the Garden Route and R62 from Cape Town to Franschoek to Swellendam to Oudtshoorn to Plettenberg Bay. 2 nights at Rothman Manor was the highlight of our 17-day trip. So much so that we booked a further night on our way back to Cape Town. Andreas and Franziska who own and manage the lodge are a delightful couple,...

We stayed at Rothman Manor for one night when driving en route to Cape Town from Knysna whilst on our honeymoon. On arrival we were greeted by Andreas who was extremely welcoming and he kindly told us that we had been upgraded to the honeymoon suite which was a lovely touch and it was a beautiful room. It had a...

I have visited South Africa 5 times now and each year visited I have tried to get into this luxury guest house. This was my first visit and with my partner who has never visited South Africa before. We both thought the suite was stunning, a wonderful melange of traditional African décor with a touch of 21st Century technology and...

We stayed for two nights with my parents and sister. This is a beautiful place, the rooms are large and nicely decorated and the beds so comfortable. The grounds are very peaceful with lots of nice touches like the hot tub overlooking the land. The owners are charming and friendly and breakfast under the oak tree is delicious. If you...

The Rothman Manor Guesthouse provides such a high standard for quality of rooms and breakfast, appropriate level of hospitality and beautiful garden setting, that other guesthouses should take note - this is the gold standard, the benchmark to which they should aspire. The attention to detail is evident everywhere - the rooms are decorated with a great collection of African...

Stayed here one night as a stopover on our honeymoon in early October, too bad we didn't stay more! We were upgraded from the double room we were supposed to stay in to the honeymoon suite - it was a beautifully decorated large apartment with so many finishing touches. But the gardens and overall outdoor setting took the cake, you...

We stayed here for two nights. As there was availability, the owner upgraded our room for free. The rooms are top quality - furnishing, size and comfort. If weather permits, breakfast is served in the garden under a large tree. The array of breakfast is great - hot and cold food, all fresh. The eco reserve is a novelty. The...

My wife and I visited S. Africa for the World Cup as well as sight-seeing. Swellendam was our first stop as we began the garden route, and our last stop on our way back to Cape Town. Andreas and his wife were gracious hosts and made sure our every need was taken care of. No details were missed - from...
