Detailed Reviews
We spent two nights here. It's quite a large, slightly odd hotel with a Hollywood theme, and two stone elephants flanking its main entrance, in an out-of-the-way part of Khorat.
Our room was OK, if a bit shabby. Bathroom likewise, with a tendency for mould growth.
Breakfast was on the poor side for a non- Thai guest, and the coffee was dreadful. The restaurant was, however, able to produce good Thai food when we needed it at odd times.
Staff were charming and very helpful indeed.
Overall the hotel was excellent value for money, and gave us great service.

I've stayed in Korat a half dozen times, despite not yet finding the “perfect” hotel. To me, the perfect hotel offers excellent value, a reasonable room and breakfast option (paid or included) for the price, location in a pleasant area with nearby amenities (eateries, a park, convenient and well-priced transport access, a market-supermarket-convenience store, etc.).
In Korat, probably for me, the best location might be between the Thanon Chira railway station and “Yamo” (for its activities including nearby facilities, including the central terminal for song theaws). I have stayed a couple of times at the Korat Hotel, but would be happier with that place if they refreshed the rooms a bit. I had seen listings for the Punjadara previously; and phoned them once. But their quoted rate on that occasion was too high, so I stayed elsewhere. More recently, I phoned them a bit farther in advance, and got a quoted price of 850 baht, nett, with breakfast. Web booking sites offered comparable prices – the Punjadara's Website posted rack rates about 50% higher than this quote. I decided to accept that offer over the phone.
Arriving at Thanon Chira train station one midday, I was shown the way to the hotel, by walking to the right (eastward) from the station, parallel to the tracks. In the relatively early mornings (up to about 11 AM) this is the site of a busy and interesting Train Market – but at midday the market was already almost completely taken down – so walking that alleyway was convenient. (I would not have wanted to walk that way, with luggage, through the throngs of people during market-time.)
The hotel is quite plain looking from a distance. However, the entranceway is pleasant in a modest 3-star hotel manner. So is the lobby – though it might be worth pointing out the rather elegant sofa and chair sets in front of the lifts, and also in a corner of the lobby. These seem made-to-order for the group/family photos that many locals seek to take every 15 metres or so along a trip when on vacation. I saw several sets of such photos taken in those chairs over the course of my stay.
Checkin was quick and pleasant. I was paying cash, so settled the amount at check-in. I was handed a coupon for the gratis buffet breakfast, as well as a slip giving WiFi password information.
The Punjadara Hotel has conference facilities on its 2nd floor (the ground floor is numbered #1), a restaurant (apparently used for banquets) on the topmost 7th floor, hotel rooms on floors 3-6, a lounge, coffee shop, and restaurant (where the buffet breakfast is also served) around a corner behind reception on the ground (1st) floor. That area also had a rack with several Thai national newspapers, the Bangkok Post, and some local papers, available for guests to read.
Their meetings business looks brisk – with several upcoming events listed on a noticeboard. The following morning (a Sunday) I saw a group gathering on the 2nd floor for a meeting – yes, even on a Sunday. I could imagine worse places for such meetings. The hotel has two lifts - I encountered no problem in getting a lift quickly despite that group gathering on the 2nd floor as I was getting breakfast and otherwise moving about the hotel.
The rooms are fairly pleasant - at least this was the case for my room on the 6th floor. Nothing is brand new, but nothing was worn out, either. The TV was a CRT (e.g. not LCD or LED) type, relatively new looking but a no-name brand. It worked fine, like everything else in the room. Closet space was very generous – capable of dealing with lots of clothes on a much longer stay than might be the norm for hotel guests in Korat. My room looked northward, overlooking the FiveStar shopping and entertainment ccomplex, apparently owned by, and built about the same time as, the Punjadara Hotel. The complex includes a small supermarket (with good prices), a cinema, karaoke (which from the looks of things is the “travelling businessman” type rather than the “family” type), and a restaurant. A 7-11 and some ATMs are also adjacent. The room also overlooks the terminous for a bus company, but that terminous was not evident (e.g. no noise) during this stay. The bathroom is relatively simple – some will certainly call it dated. But everything was clean and in good working order.
Beds were comfortable, as were the chairs in the room. The room was quiet. Breakfast is geared more for locals, but that is fine for me. Toast, margarine, jam. Corn flakes and one other cold cereal (cocoa puffs?). Yoghurt. Plain khao thom (rice porridge) with nothing to go with it (no fresh or fried onions, chili in vinegar, no meat or fish, etc.). {The last item is a bit odd, as khao thom usually comes with chicken, pork, or fish, and has a selection of additives which one uses to taste.} They had an omlet station – and the resultant omlet was very nice (to me). Many Thai hotels have a salad bar in their breakfast buffet. The Punjadara's was good for a hotel charging this rate. As I have been increasing my intake of fresh fruits and veggies – the salad bar, the nearby fresh fruit, an omlet, yogurt, and coffee made a fine breakfast for me.
The flow of people around the hotel, including at breakfast, suggested that the hotel was neither empty nor full. Considering that this was slow season, patronage levels looked OK. All that I remember, other than myself, were Thai.
Is this the answer to my quest for a nicely located, appointed, and priced hotel in Korat? Maybe. I wouldn't mind staying here again. The Punjadara is a bit (but only a bit) far from Yamo to be perfectly located. But it ticks all the other boxes on my list. I might stay longer next time, and explore the neighbourhood around the Punjadara – to see if it could make a decent base for a short escape from Bangkok.
Korat? A place for a short escape from Bangkok? Well, maybe yes. Phimai (staying at the Phimai Inn) fits this bill. Phitsanulok does, also. Of course the more standard places (e.g. Kanchanaburi and Hua Hin) do the job nicely. It would be nice to add Korat to this list.
BTW. If you stay at the Punjadara, consider taking a walk along the local roadway westward from the hotel, parallel to the train tracks toward Thanon Chira train station. If you exit the hotel at its southern entrance, and turn right to the exit from the hotel's parking area, you approach that roadway from the east (e.g. and are across the north-south road into town). Do this after breakfast, and enjoy the Train Market. I don't see writeups for that market anywhere in English. It's an eclectic mix of vintage used hardware, car and bike parts, new clothes and accessories, food, phones, and more. They start to close down about 11 AM.

This hotel has a really excellent value for money. Rooms and bathrooms are very big and very clean although a bit old, staff is very helpfull and very polite. Buffet breakfast is satisfactory for quality and variety. In the lobby there are 2 computers with 24 hrs. free internet for guests. Location is close to the city centre, at about 5 min. walking distance. Rooms are on the 2 sides of the hotel: the quiter's side rooms have big sliding window that can't be opened; the other side's rooms have normal window that can be opened but overlook a club in which live music is played until late night; we choose this side, the music volume was acceptable, but someone may prefer the quiter side...
I can really recommend this hotel!

There are cheaper hotels to be had in Nakhon Ratchasima but the Punjadarra is very nice, has a great position and very big rooms. I paid 1,020 baht a night which is highish but it also includes a reasonable buffet breakfast. The hotel is very Thai in as much as it caters to Thais more so than westerners as there are not that many westerners visiting Nakhon. This is a nice thing because after all you are in Thailand, it's refreshing to be reminded of that.

I stayed at this hotel for five nights. The hotel is position conveniently
Just outside the old city, close to several good restaurants, but not too close to the madding crowd.
The rooms are spacious, the beds not too hard. The bathroom is dated but clean. Breakfast ok but a little spartan for Europeans. The staff are friendly and speak English. Wifi is ok but can be slow at times. I would stay here again and rate this hotel good value for money.
Cheers Phil

We stayed two nights here passing through Korat. We got a deal online so paid just 750 baht per night. The rooms are big and clean. The staff speak good English and are very friendly. The breakfast buffet has a lot of choice and included in the room price is excellent value. It's a 5 minute walk from the centre of the old city. There is a 7/11 a few doors down and a bar next door with cheap beer and live bands. If you get a room at the back of the hotel you can hear a pin drop.
Would stay again.

We wanted to spend the night in Korat on our way home and after being very disappointed with the Chomsurang, we decided to spring with the 1100 baht for the Punjadara. Friendly English speaking staff was very helpful. Room was large and clean. Bed was hard. Other than the price we were quite happy.

I stayed a total of 6 nights. Did change room once because of roaches. Having said that I think they were coming up the drain and once the shower was used a lot did not see them again. The rooms are large but could use a desk to work on. The air con filters need a good clean.
I first day the staff was not very friendly but was better later in the week. Rooms were quite.
