This was my fifth time to Phu Quoc and the island's gone from a couple flights a week to several a day, including giant airplanes. And so many resorts. So I was all ready to talk about how it was overcrowded and not the same charming place. But, wow, Freedomland kept Phu Quoc as my favorite Vietnam getaway. They're really...

My young daughter and I stayed at Freedomland for a whole week and could have stayed for a month. This relaxing homestay set in beautiful countryside is only a short walk to the beach and is hosted by a lovely couple, Rita and Peter. Approximately 18 bungalows with outdoor bathrooms are discretely positioned to ensure maximum privacy for all guests....

We planned to spend some days relaxing on Phu Quoc after backpacking Vietnam for three weeks. First we wanted to choose one of these fancy resorts but I am very glad that we decided otherwise! The property is built with love in the detail, the bungalows are large, clean and welcoming. Rita makes amazing cocktails and I had the best...

If you are a Saigon settler there is no better place to go than Phu Quoc islands and stay at this "Gourmet" Hostel retreat place. The setting is perfect, you have your own private and simple bungalow to relax but the common areas are specially created for the "nomads" to talk. The dinners are simply fantastic, so good.

Despite 48 hours of travel to get back home to Boston, our 6 days and night on Phu Quoc were completely worth it. Not just because of the gorgeous beaches or the perfect tropical climate, which are already two keys to an island vacation, but because of our unique and wonderful experience at Freedomland. Everything at the resort was perfect...

Rita and Peter - Congratulations on hosting your first wedding at Freedomland. What can I say - food, staff, food, bar, food, service, food, massage, food - just amazing. My mouth waters every time I view the pictures of our many feasts. You made everyone feel at home with your friendly, laid back attitude, but still managed the professionalism that...

We stayed at Freemdomland based on the strength of the reviews below, assuming that this many people couldn't be wrong! Aside from the lovely bungalows each with their own hammock, sofa/deckchair, four poster bed and outdoor shower/bathroom; the beautiful jungle setting; the communal table sat beneath a web of sparking fairy lights; the nice little quirks like Rita's cafe or...

Freedonland is more than just a resort in the middle of wilderness. Freedomland provides you great hospitality, great great great food (please do not miss the communal dinner), great peace and a lovely stay in the middle of tropical trees away from the hustle bustle of the cities. This was definitely my best stay ever and I very strongly recommend...

We chose this place for the food experience and because we wanted to be a part of the communal experience around it. We also wanted to get back to our travelling roots so the simplicity, tranquility and beauty were actually a plus point for us. The reality is that the weather was so fantastic so the cold water, which is...

Where do we start with the superlatives? When we enquired about availability we immediately got an response to set up expectations about what Freedomland is and is not. This only cemented our determination to head over there. From the moment we arrived we loved everything about it. Our jungle hut (#15) was basic in setup, but really lovely in detail....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Freedomland offers an home style hospitality, where you can relax amongst friends you have just met, swapping stories over dinner after a day of adventure exploring the island or a day of total relaxation on the nearby beach. As each day goes by, you will appreciate we are not a hotel. LOCATION: Located 15 minutes walk to Ong Lang beach, nestled in a jungle-like area in the North West of Phu Quoc island. 20Km from the airport (about 45 min. Drive); 10km from the main town (15 min. Drive) BUNGALOWS: We designed our bungalows in harmony with the surrounding environment. They are opened enough to allow air flow, furnished with fans (no A/C), wooden furniture locally made and mosquito nets. There is no tv plasma, no hot water (method Kneipp ;), no hairdryers, no minibar and no air conditioned in our bungalows. FOOD & DRINK: Exclusively for lucky freedomland guests, family and friends every night we cook a communal dinner when everyone has the opportunity to meet, enjoy the food and the ambiance. Peter's cuisine is a skilful blend of vietnamese and European cuisine. All the guests fell in love with the Peter's cooking, and he likes sharing his love for food. ... more   less
