We just wanted a nice, clean, inexpensive room prior to the train ride, and El Meson worked out fine for us. I thought it was strange that check-in was between 2:00 and 6:00 pm, but I called in advance and said we'd be late, and someone was there to check us in.

We were in Chama to ride the Cumbres-Toltec train. We stayed at El Meson Lodge and were thrilled with the accommodations. Big room, fridge, microwave, sleeper sofa, tv and more at a very reasonable price. Definitely a repeat when in the area.

I will start by saying the room was clean. The decor is tired looking, but I could find no signs of uncleanliness. The TV is very old, and ours made a humming sound when in use. The beds were not bad. Our party had two rooms. The one closest to the office,102, had great wifi, but room 106 barely registered...

We chose to stay at El Meson Lodge while in Chama for the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. It is just a couple miles from town and the railroad. Our room was your basic standard-issue motel room, the most important fact being that it was clean, comfortable, and reasonable. The tight bathroom had a couple minor quirks but it was...

We have stayed here for a holiday weekend almost every year for many years. The staff is very friendly and make us feel at home. They have recently remodeled many of the rooms to make them more comfortable. The rooms are basic and clean. There is WiFi. The lodge is set back from the road so it is quieter, and...

Thank you, Ernesto and Rose for offering a comfortable place to rest our heads after a couple of planning meetings in Chama for an event held last week in memory of our son. The rooms were spacious and clean and comfortable. The hotel is nestled in a beautiful mountain setting--so quiet and peaceful. The volunteers who stayed there during the...

I have stayed here several times in the past and had reasonable experiences. This one is turning out different. First, the Lodge is being remodeled from front to back and top to bottom. That's good... except they didn't tell me this when I booked. "We didn't want to disappoint you" by turning you away. Well - I'm still disappointed. When...

The folks who run el meson were very nice and the room was super clean. It was warm, there was a microwave and a mini fridge, a couch, tv, table and chairs... Great value, I think the cheapest place in town.

Typical of small tourist towns everywhere Chama has a number of lodging choices, mostly NOT the big chains and most of them right tight along the roadside. This is what I appreciated about El Meson Lodge, it sits back off of the road in a quiet park setting. The rooms are what you would expect. Neat and clean with good...

This motel lies about 200 feet back from the main road in Chama. We arrived in the dark and passed the motel twice before noticing the sign which is at right angles to the road. However, the staff were friendly and helpful and the room nice and clean. But breakfast is not provided. This is not a great problem though...
