Given it being the location as a tourist destination, you may think that Mesilla offers a great variety of traditional breakfast. In fact, this is the only place in Mesilla that serves hot breakfast (there are coffee/pastry shops as well). Luckily, its very good as well. Beautiful patio just off the main plaza with shade and the music a little...

Not sure what I'd call this place. The owner has the restaurant and the 2 rooms next door. As we prefer to stay at quaint inns or Bed and Breakfast places, our options were limited. This really isn't either. The size was good but after paying the owner (the only time we saw her) we got a very quick tour...

Sorry you were so disappointed....Yes we were concerned with the bride next door...There were 11 attendants and we were not prepaired for that type of traffic in our room or the facility ......especially when we had other guest staying. When the reservation was made the offer of the breakfast was extended, but not required. We are a Historic Inn and...

Josefina's is a neat little place that serves some great food. Nothing super fancy, just delicious. Love the egg quesadilla for breakfast and just has the turkey wrap for lunch. Both just great. And the setting is quaint, historic and very soothing. Waitress and chef are great and the chef came out to see if we liked the turkey wrap....

I booked the room for my wedding night and was very impressed with the room size and old world decor. It was charming. The defective Kuerig machine leaked coffee the next morning and my husband used two of the bathroom hand towels to clean up the spill. I received a nasty voice message from one of the owners while on...

We found this lovely restaurant by accident. As a matter of fact we found the whole town by accident and am so glad we did. We had a great breakfast on the loveliest patio in town. Next time we are headed east we will go to Josefinas's again to eat and maybe stay in one of the rooms they have...

Stayed over night for wife's birthday. Wanted to take advantage of wineries in the area and not have to drive. Simply stated the room exceeded our expectations. The inn only has two rooms one king and one queen. Both in close proximity to each other as the structure was clearly a large home historically. Our reception from the owner was...

Did not stay in the Inn, but we have eaten lunch there several times and found the atmosphere and the food to be very good. The menu is creative, the portions are good sized and taste great. Just a few steps from the town square, it's worth the trip.

Located right in the heart of Old Mesilla, New Mexico, Josefina’s Old Gate is definitely not your ordinary overnight stay. It’s not a bed & breakfast and it’s not a hotel. The entire Josefina’s area is an indoor café, a patio café, an antiques store, and the inn. The inn is comprised of only two rooms, a king suite and...

We were raised in Las Cruces and just coming home for a short visit, but wanted something out of the ordinary. Josefina's fit that bill perfectly - a beautiful little gem of an Inn, just a few short steps away from the Old Mesilla Town Square. With every little detail you can tell the owner truly goes out of her...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This quaint adobe house known simply as “Josefina’s” has long been a symbol of warmth and welcome on the Historic Old Mesilla Plaza. Josefina’s is aptly named for the dynamic and outgoing woman who lived here for nearly 35 years and established the Luminaria Tradition of Mesilla. Dating back to the early 1900’s this home has served as a place to gather, socialize, and celebrate. This tradition lives on as “Josefina’s” opens its gates to the community and visitors of Mesilla.Once the site of holiday open houses and afternoon get-togethers, we now invite all to relax, spend time with friends and family, and enjoy the plaza in an intimate and comfortable setting. Whether you are gathering for a tea party on our patio, a luncheon in our café, celebrating a special anniversary in our Historic Inn, or shopping for that “must have” at Old Gate Antique’s, you are sure to find the warmth of Southern New Mexico charm. ... more   less

“We usually chose king rooms so you may wish to book the king room if that is your preference!”

“There are only two rooms, I picked the queen because the descriptions made the scale seem more intimate (biggest is not always best). The whole time we were there we never saw, as we called them the "Kings", so we cannot say for sure that ours was the best, but we were very happy with our selection. One or two complaints, since I am always good for a few; the beautiful hatched ceiling was cut up with a HVAC grill above the bed, as an architect I would have walked over 7 alligators before I would have allowed that to happen, and the sitting room has the couch under the TV--okay stage shot --who really lives or functions that way?”
