I don't like to think of myself as a hotel snob but I honestly don't stay at these "types" of places very often. I prefer to stay somewhere newer, that I know will likely be clean. These older motels are often a gamble but I saw all of the great reviews so I figured I should give them a try....

THANK YOU STEVE!! We try hard. The Sunset turns 57 this year! Family built her in the 50's and 60's. We may be the last remaining route 66 motel owned and managed by the family that built her! Please hurry back! Mike and Debbie Pogue - owners

We were driving from California to Georgia. His was one of the stops and the best one. Very cute and cozy. Dog friendly too. The owners are delightful. A great rate. The room was spacious and clean and warm.

We stayed for a sporting event and it was reasonably priced. The mattresses were newer and comfortable. It is definitely an older Motel, however, it is very roomy. I liked the fact that the bathroom was around a wall and hidden from view.

I stayed here the first night in town working a job at Wagon Wheel. I have stayed here before and they have excellent parking for a semi, but breakfast is either non-existant or too late to get started in the morning

On a stop over while on vacation we stopped at Sunset Motel. The owner/ front desk couple were delightful and so accommodating and friendly. Our double queen room was clean as a pin including the bathroom and everything was in working order. We will definitely stop here again.

Our truck broke down about a hundred feet or more from here and we had to spend the night. We were on our way to see some family in another city, so we had to call my brother to come and get us. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Excellent staff

While driving through Albuquerque I was looking for something east of the city and out of the traffic. I searched TripAdvisor for Moriarty, NM which was about 30 miles east and found this little gem with a very good rating. I was not disappointed. The desk clerk, who also was the owner, was very friendly and treated me like a...

Lee, thank you for taking time to write a thoughtful review. We very much appreciate your kind words. Portals such as tripadvisor.com allow well ran, independent motels like the Sunset Motel to do well - if we do a good job. The Sunset Motel was built in the 50's and 60's. My brother and I were raised behind the front...

I read the reviews on line. I agree with those that feel this is a clean and simple place. When I walked into my room I felt like I stepped back into the my childhood in the 1960's. I took pictures of the room and sent them to my wife. the owner is very pleasant and recommended a great local...

A pleasant and comfy stay. After reading the reviews I decided to give this motel a try while traveling through. Glad we did. Check in was a breeze, very friendly and courtesy staff and owners. It's a cozy little motel off the road of Moriarty. This motel has been around quite some time since 1959 and has been updated. Has...

While the room we were given had all that we needed for two nights of sleep, it still left much to be desired. The bedding seemed clean enough, but the carpet was heavily stained and appeared filthy. Amenities were lacking. No phone and the clock was a windup. The alarm didn't work. Fortunately, we had a cell phone with an...
