I spent six days at the Mountain Valley Lodge while attending a gathering in Portal. The Cowboy Room was a very comfortable space that made me feel at home. The kitchen area, table by the window, and it's roominess made me feel like I was in a home away from home. The place was clean and well lit, the giant... More

We stayed here while birding in Portal,AZ. We have stayed at the only other motel in the area, and this was less expensive and better outfitted. Will go back again without hesitation. The proprietor was very nice and helpful, too. They have wonderful plant and water feature attracting many different birds, also.

A birder's paradise-- Cardinals, thrashers, warblers, doves and sparrows living among the Cottonwoods, Italian Cypresses and the Juniper Pines on site. You will find feathered friends fluttering and chirping the whole day through!! It was a great experience and I look forward to our next visit. A Clean, spacious, 2 bedroom home accommodated my husband and two teenagers for two... More

we loved this place - very reasonably priced and nicely appointed room - We try to avoid chains when we are on the road and this stay confirmed that it is the right way to travel. A great base to explore the Chiricahua Mountains.

I would never in a million years have imagined this place could possibly be as good as it was. It's in a teeny tiny town very close to Portal AZ and the Cave Creek recreational area. The Cowboy Room, in which I stayed, is huge, with a king bed, a small kitchen area (complete with microwave fridge, small table AND... More

We stayed in the Casita, a very nice three room cabin that is dog-friendly. It even has a private enclosed back yard so you can let your dog out in the middle of the night if needed. There is a full kitchen, a living room and a bedroom. Everything was very clean, and the owner was friendly and helpful. There... More

My wife and I parked our 29' 5th wheel in one of four RV sites all of which were small and close but pleasant and quiet. Dan, the owner, was friendly, helpful and eager to please. We had WIFI but no cell service. (Verison might have worked) We stayed two nights but were only at the park to sleep. We... More

We stayed in the Cowboy Room, formerly the village barbershop, but nicely converted into a spacious, attractive, comfortable room. Had fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Sitting out on the porch gave a wonderful view of the Chricahua Mountains.Very well-priced at $68+tax. Greg, our host, was very nice, if a bit vague. Wish we'd stayed more than one night.

Always wondered what it was like on Eastern side of Chiricahua Mtns. Is fantastic! Stayed at Mtn. Valley Lodge's RV area all to ourselves. Both 30 & 50 A full hookups for good price. New owner Dan is a great guy and the place has laundry room and nice surroundings. This location is great for day trips into the Cave... More

We rented a cabin for 4 days while we went birding in the Cave Creek Canyon area. The cabin was clean and comfortable with one bedroom, a living room and a small dining nook. Unfortunately there was no stove so we had to go out for dinners and that was a bit of a challenge in Rodeo. The local pub... More
