We had a early morning Safari in Nov 2016. It was a lifetime experience. We saw a leopard and hyena's competing for a kill. We saw Hyena's stalking Zebras with the stallion protecting the herd. Simply incredible!

I was greeted upon arrival by friendly Johan, one of the rangers who showed me to my room and gave a quick explanation of the daily activities. I arrived mid-afternoon, just in time for lunch. It was mainly cold pizza squares, but when you just want something to nibble on, they're okay. The rest of the meals, all buffet, prepared...

This was my first safari experience and everything about it made me want to do it all over again. Once you arrive you are greeted by who will become your guide for your entire stay and really the person you can go to and ask anything. I will say this, the guide makes all the difference. Mauritz was superb, friendly,...

The lodge has a fantastic location next to the river and the staff are excellent, as were the game drives and viewing. However the Lodge and the facilities are in need of refurbishment. This place could be so much better than it currently is.

Lodge is old and tired and needs a refurb. Food is all buffet, breakfast, lunch and dinner and average at best. We came back from evening game drive and had to go straight to dinner with no time for shower or G&T on the decking. Then most guests went to bed straight afterwards making us feel uncomfortable having a night...

There is much room for improvement when it comes to the rooms and hotel grounds. We felt like we were in summer camp again. For the price we expected a bit more. The staff was great and the service was really good. The game drives were amazing!

Upon arrival we were met by Johan, our rooms (2&3) were perfectly located with views over the river, which during our stays gave us Elephants, Rhino, Hippo, Giraffe, Baboons, Impala to name but a few. We were lucky to see the big 4 minus lions, which though they could be heard didn't traverse into our area, this though despite being...

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights in August and had an outstanding time. Umkumbe is marvellously located right at the Sabi river, which is mostly dry but attracts large numbers of elephant. These sometimes come so close to your lodgings it feels they're in your front garden. The pool area is another great place to see wildlife....

We stayed ate Umkumbe last week for 2 days and it was a great experience. We stayed in the Buffalo room, as it was a very rustic, confortable room. The best part of it was our guide Marius; he was very atencious and did his best all the time so we could see all the animais; it was clear that...
