Need to chill out?.. warm weather, beautiful location, great food and the big 5. Toro Yaka is the place. Only spent 2 nights there..wish it could have been longer. Amazing place. Nicole and Steve run Toro Yaka. Game drives - the guide is knowledgeable and entertaining. Whilst there is no guarantee you will see all the big 5 .. there...

The passion, skill and commitment of Steve and Nicole, the owners, has meant that staying at ToroYaka (which means my dream) was not just their dream but becomes everyone's dream. Nicole's skills include being a brilliant chef, massage therapist and host and these skills are complimented by Steve's knowledge, experience and skill as a Ranger and Conservationist. Nicole has this...

We were only at Toro Yaka for a night but had a great experience. The camp is very nicely setup, with nice rooms and a great pool area - and the food and service was amazing. Nicole and her team go out of their way with small touches throughout the stay to make sure guests have a great experience. We...

Tora Yaka is amazing. We stayed here with friends after 3 nights at Talamati and 3 nights at Shimuweni Bushveld Camps in Kruger National Park. A bit of luxury to end our trip to the bush! Run by Nicolle and Steve and their wonderful team, we could not have asked for more. Nicolle produced the most delicious meals, going above...

From the moment you arrive, you are treated to perfection. The meals are superb. The staff is warm and caring. The safaris were up close, informative and perfectly planned. The room was well appointed, spacious, maintained throughout the day, and stocked with everything you didn't know you'd need! We stayed at 4 other places, this one was by far the...

My husband and I visited after a fantastic 6 days in Kruger National Park. We saw so much - the Big Five on each of our first two days. Arrived at Toro Yaka to be greeted personally by Nicole and her friendly staff. We were thoroughly spoiled with three delicious meals a day, two game drives a day and sun...

I persuaded Andrew P (see recent review) that this should be our Kruger destination and I am very happy for him and us that we did so. I daresay if you choose a Sabi Sands lodge, you will have even more luxurious rooms etc, but you will have to compete with loads of other landrovers chasing "sightings", as well as...

Steve and Nicole have really set the bar too high for the rest of the Kruger competition. Steve has been guiding for over 22 years and it clearly shows he has lost no passion. He could identify birds by sounds and/or sights, tell you the history of the Kruger area, anything you want to know about animals and many other...

Simply: there was nothing to fault in our 4 night stay. This was one of those experiences where I could wax lyrical about every moment but instead I'll give a small flavour and just recommend you go and find out for yourself. What made this place special? In no particular order: The ongoing personal touches carefully thought through by Nicole....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Owner/Manager team Steve & Nicole Baillie would like to invite you to visit Toro Yaka Bush Lodge. This special lodge is nestled in the heart of the Balule Nature Reserve, a 38 000 hectare conservancy, which forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park area. ToroYaka means “My Dream” in Northern Sotho, one of South Africa’s local languages, and the creation of Toro Yaka Bush Lodge has fulfilled the dreams of Steve and Nicole, by establishing a haven of peace and tranquility from which to share their passion for nature. The lodge has been designed in a modern elegant style, with a relaxed atmosphere, allowing guests to sit back, relax and feel at home. The six en-suite double rooms ensure tranquility and comfort at all times. Steve has spent more than a decade sharing his knowledge and love for the bush with clients from all over the world at luxury game lodges throughout South Africa. Nicole is a qualified holistic massage therapist and takes care of all the tiny details. Together with the Toro Yaka Staff, they will ensure your stay to be a memorable one. Balule is home to a large variety of plants and animals. From the smallest spider to the largest elephant, from the tiniest flower to a 1000 year old Leadwood tree, owls at night and eagles by day, every aspect of the ecosystem is explored. The Olifants River, which flows year round through the Balule, is home to hippos and crocodiles, and the whole area is one of scenic splendor, with the northern tip of the Drakensberg mountain range being visible from many points. Together with all of this, Toro Yaka Bush Lodge offers you good home cooked food, friendly service, warm South African Hospitality and loads of enthusiasm. ... more   less
