Waterbuck Lodge is a real slice of heaven & I will highly recommend it to anyone looking for a decent "home away from home" experience!! The staff are so welcoming & friendly, and you were always greeted with a smile. Spacious, beautiful and spotless rooms that were turned down every evening. Unbelievably knowledgable guides and their trackers, who always went... More

Experiencing the bush in this reserve is a real treat! with leopard and lion sightings being a common occurrence, friendly and knowledgeable rangers and trackers with serious skill. The highlight for me was a leopard sighting of a young male and his brother putting on a show in the middle to southern area of the reserve, I have included my... More

We have been visiting this lodge once a year now for last 7 years and cannot wait for our next visit. Some of the best sightings we have had in the African bush have been here including 2 leopard cubs in the drainage line just in front of the camp on our last trip. This place is special and a... My wife and I stayed at Monwana last year and Thornybush main lodge a couple of years ago and unfortunately we were disappointed by Waterbuck lodge The ranger and tracker were really nice as were the rest of the staff however the food really wasn't up to Thornybush's previous high standard The lunch was the same every day salad and... Absolutely fantastic. Our first ever safari which has been a great experience. All the staff were friendly and polite. Welcome drinks on arrival and after evening safaris. Food great and enjoyable. Relaxed atmosphere with only 4 guest lodges but the staff made sure things worked like clockwork especially our rAnger Franco. Franco and our tracker, Lodrick, were both very knowledgable... More

Staying in a game reserve is one of the top choices for tourists in the Kruger area. Anyway most of the choices are really expensive... We chose the Waterbuck because it was more similar to our standard and really liked it. The drive with the ranger were beautiful and interesting. Our room was very nice, with a great view on... Just returned from two days at Waterbuck with my husband and two sons (ages 16 and 19). We had rooms 3 and 4. The rooms are gorgeous and private. With a terrace overlooking the bush, an enormous bathroom with a tub surrounded by windows overlooking the bush and an indoor and outdoor shower. The shared areas were comfortable and beautiful... I have been on a few safaris in South Africa and hands down this was one of the best experiences I have had. Hannes is the most knowledgable guide I have safaried with. He not only knows about all of the animals, but he also knows all about the plants and how to track animals. I was fortunate enough to... More

Waterbuck is a small (8 pax) property. Accommodation is spacious, comfortable and offers the usual amenities one would find in a private game lodge. There are no unnecessary frills however. Hosts Hannes and Anita are outstanding and competent. Lodrick our tracker was really good too. The southern part of Thornybush offers good game viewing despite the drought. The quality of... More
