My husband & I really loved our stay here. Rustic yet as comfortable as could be. At night you can hear the lions roar and hear things walking outside your tent....exactly what I wanted on my safari!!! The game drives were great, food excellent, and the view of the watering hole with all the animals was an added bonus. While...

Wow! Super impressed by our three night stay that gave us time for five game drives. Rustic Open camp with very comfortable accommodation in sheltered tents. With no TV or music during the day there was just silence only interrupted by passing wildlife. We had a great run with the game drives and the guides are all passionate and knowledgable...

This was my second time in South Africa and I did Kruger last time and wanted to do some different experience. Well I didn't regret it at all! Shindzela is just 3 days of relaxing and spotting animals. You get your meals 3 times a day (which are really great!), 2 times a day a game drive with sundowners in...

What a wonderful lodge - great tents, in an unfenced setting, overlooking a water hole. Absolute value - good food, wonderful staff and ambience. The only downside for us was our guide. He was very inexperienced and was filling in for a regular employee who was on leave. His lack of communication was more than made up for by Raymond,...

We really enjoyed both the Timbavati reserve and the Shindzela camp. The place itself was great. The tented room was one of those half hut half tent type things which was great and with the zips windows down you can keep the temperature down when it's hot. There's a swimming pool right by a water hole and literally anything can...

We considered many options for our trip to Kruger and its outlying private concessions. No doubt others are also very good, but we selected Shindzela for value and based on reports from others. We were not disappointed. It was comfortable, despite the 39deg.C temperatures and the food and hospitality were excellent. Our only regret is that the waterhole was dry,...

I went to Shindzela with my family for a three day safari holiday. It was very well organised camp with great staff. The food was very good and the tour guides and the Safari guides were exceptional. In three days we had seen all the big five animals many times and are very pleased with all the staff in the...

Shindzela offers a wonderfully authentic bush experience. It may be a low cost offering among other camps in the Timbavati, but it certainly doesn't suffer in comparison with others we've stayed at elsewhere; quite the opposite, in fact. Our ranger and tracker, Johan & Geoffrey, were just awesome and we completely lucked out with game sightings. It might be difficult...

Wow what an incredible bush lodge for budget price. On arrival we were luckily enough to see a family of elephants drinking from the watering hole across from the lodge... this happened everyday!! Our guide Johan was amazing as well... always ensuring we got to see all the wildlife in our daily game drives. With the tracker they always tried...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Shindzela is an authentic tented bush camp situated in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, greater Kruger National Park. The camp accommodates a maximum of 16 guests and is unfenced, making it very much part of the wilderness. Shindzela is not built by an award winning architect, nor is it furnished by an interior designer. What you will find though, is a comfy bed, freshly laundered linen, and décor from local crafters and artists. Shindzela is a comfortable/rustic tented bush camp, where you can relax, enjoy our warm hospitality and immerse yourself in the African wilderness. We love our informal, relaxed atmosphere. Each safari tent is built on wooden decks, and has their own en-suite shower/toilet and hand basin. The camp also has a swimming pool and overlooks our little watering hole, from where you can watch animals come down to drink. ... more   less
