This was our 4th Safari and we would wholeheartedly recommend a visit to the Great Fish River Lodge, we had an amazing 3 nights here and had many special animal sightings a wonderful experience seeing Lion Cubs drink from a waterhole just how you would see kittens drinking from a bowl of milk, and a magical moment with a herd...

This was the most wonderful end to exploring the Garden Route. The kindest and most efficient staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Breath taking travels across the Estate searching for and finding the animals. Perfect sunrises and sunsets and always the joy of returning to the Lodge with the warmest of welcomes and delicious food and drink. It was really...

The Lodge is itself on the small side but quite quaint. It's size though is perfect for the amount of guests at any one time. Plenty of areas to si and reflect about...

Never have I stayed in such a beautiful place. From arrival....greeting at the main house with drinks and hot towels...it just satisfies every need. Within half an hour we were being driven to the lodge and greeted by a large male giraffe en route! The main lodge itself is out of this world and the individual lodges are just as...

Stayed as a family with our three grown up kids. We loved the accommodation and our individual plunge pools where we whiled away many happy hours, watching the odd rogue elephant, zebra, kudu or baboon. The game drives were great and we never wanted them to end...we saw almost everything except that elusive leopard and rooms and lodge very comfortable...

Great Fish River Lodge is magnificent. We were absolutely pampered and loved it. Wonderful Game Drives with Adrian our Ranger (incredibly knowledgeable) and the genial Vuyani, our Spotter who makes the best Amarula Coffee at 07:30 in the morning. Add to that the efficiency of Manager Ryan and the affable Thandi to look after every need we really couldn't go...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This founding lodge with only 9 privately situated suites features a classic-contemporary style of simple elegance that embraces the lodge's splendid setting high up on a steep bank overlooking the Great Fish River. The colour scheme comprises a calm and natural palette of earthy tones, from khaki browns to charcoal greys.Pewter and glass add an effortless yet understated glamour to the furnishings; artefacts such as ostrich eggshells, hides and horns create subtle points of interest and relevance to the lodge's surrounds, whilst natural linens and plenty of texture preserve its simple but sophisticated atmosphere.Watch majestic kudu meander down to the river from the Lodge's expansive viewing decks, or observe playful Cape clawless otters swimming in the cool waters below from the comfort of your private balcony. Suites are spacious and feature en-suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor showers, personal in-room bars and private decks with plunge pools overlooking the vast reserve. ... more   less
