Following the high recommendations from our friend, we had very high expectations to Madikwe Safari Lodge. Yet they manager to exceed our expectations. The service at Kopana Logde was extremely friendly through out our 3 night stay. The facilities were at very high standard. Our ranger Jean-Pierre (JP) was extremely enthusiastic about his job and shared his broad knowledge nicely...

We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers, this was the very beginning of our adventure in South Africa, and what a way to start! I have personally tried the Kruger experience and thought at the time it was great, but it now pales into insignificance once you have been here. Unfortunately we went off the back of a...

Very nice lodge. Pain to get to the pool from some rooms. Experience not quite as top shelf as their sister Lion Sands resort. View from rooms not as cool, and resort rules limit the off track experience which made Lion Sands memorable. Very cool pool area overlooking watering hole with elephants, giraffes, etc. Resort area not as pretty as...

At the Lelapa (Family) lodge of Madikwe, we had the BEST mix of adventure and relaxation, luxury and reality-- what an absolutely life-changing trip that really set the precedent for the rest of our trips. Now, here is our story of how we felt like ROYALTY. You certainly get what you pay for- and even then, after all was done,...

Madikwe Safari lodge was our first stop on our South African Safari. I'm going to break this review down into the lodge and its staff and secondly the game reserve as a whole. We stayed at Kapano which is the smaller sister in the Madikwe Safari lodge family. It comprised of four suites, each with its own plunge pool. It...

We stayed for two nights in August as part of a four week trip to SA. Firstly the road to this lodge is long and tiresome on dust tracks with a lot of stones and ridges. Very worrying when we were in a new hire car. I was imagining the excess bill as we were driving along hearing all the...

My accommodation was in Dithaba Lodge - a small complex with only 4 suites but it had every facility you could wish for! Accommodation, food and staff were all excellent. Easy access from Johannesburg with regular Federal Air flights. Highly recommend and look forward to returning again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The rich red timbres of the African earth are reflected in the warm tones of Madikwe Safari Lodge. Cradled between rolling hills, overlooking game-filled plains intersected by the Marico River and framed by the Dwarsberg Hills, just 20 suites are clustered in three intimate camps. With circular fireplaces at the heart of every suite, and big glass doors to blur the boundary between inside and out, Madikwe embodies the warm, bold heart of this spectacularly rugged corner of Africa. Spacious wooden decks embrace inviting plunge pools, and book-filled shelves in quiet corners entice and captivate, while large pizza ovens add a fun twist to meal times. ... more   less
