A memorable and glorious stay thanks to host Clive and his team from his warm welcome until our farewell 3 days later, matched by the efforts and knowledge of Head Guide Gerhard on the morning and evening game viewing drives. Thoughtful understated elegance in lodge...More
Arriving by small plane was a great start to our holiday. Ranger Michael met us and we forged a great relationship with him: knowledgeable and low key with Michael really catering to our daughter's interests. The Eco Room was a highlight. A fantastic family experience....More
Awesome! Staff goes out off the way to make weekend special. Staff tunes into personal needs. Best wild see I have in my life! Saw the big five in one evening game drive. Rooms are nicely spaced so really feel alone in nature. Thanks for...More
First Do not trust the reservation team if you have kids ... they moved us to an adjacent lodge without anything for the kids without notice.
In general what a waste of a nice property .... the lodge itself is superb but in dire need...More

We deeply regret the reservation error that resulted in Lelapa Lodge not being available for the full duration of your family's intended stay with us in April, and completely understand how disappointing this must have been. Although we tried to provide a suitable...More
We had an unforgettable three nights at the lodge, it exceeded every single one of our expectations. Our every need (and more) was cared for and the staff were friendly and helpful at every turn. We were particularly impressed at how well our son (5)...More

Speak to the booking agent as you may be able to put your third child on the bed settee in the lounge area of the family lodge. We stayed twice with pur two kids in the bunk beds and enquirer about taking mil for the next trip. It would have been possible but didn't happen due to travel issues for her. They were willing to work with us though to avoid splitting us up or having mil on her own. Certainly the family lodge is big enough it is just whether the final bed is sufficient forth ethics child, age and size wise. Wonderful lodge, wonderful people and amazing sightings, enjoy.

Thank you for your enquiry.
May is generally a cooler month with very few mosquitos, I would however suggest using an insect repellent in the evenings (this is also supplied by the Lodge). It would not be necessary during the day.
Fortunately there are no tsetse flies in Madikwe.
We looking forward to welcoming you to Madikwe Safari Lodge.

Hi there, I went to Madikwe last summer and also brought my camera (Canon EOS 1DX; full format). I was very happy with my Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L lens in terms of zoom factor and handling. Usually the rangers get you very closely to the game, so even the 70 - 300mm will do in my opinion (though you will have to crop your fotos in post-production).
Enjoy your trip - Madikwe is amazing.
